In this paper, we study combinatorics of congruence subgroups of the modular group. More precisely, we consider the matrix equation that naturally arises in the theory of Coxeter friezes and investigate its irreducible solutions. We give new properties for minimal monomial solutions. Furthermore, we introduce the notion of minimal dynomial solutions and study their irreducibility.

Let $W_a$ be an affine Weyl group. In 1987 Jian Yi Shi gave a characterization of the elements $w \in W_a$ in terms of $Φ^+$-tuples $(k(w,α))_{α\in Φ^+}$ called the Shi vectors. Using these coefficients, a formula is provided to compute the standard length of $W_a$. In this note we express the twisted affine length function of $W_a$ in terms of the Shi coefficients.

Let $Γ$ be a countable group and let $G$ be the Schreier graph of the free part of the Bernoulli shift of $Γ$ (with respect to some finite subset $F \subseteq Γ$). We show that the Borel fractional chromatic number of $G$ is equal to $1$ over the measurable independence number of $G$. As a consequence, we asymptotically determine the Borel fractional chromatic number of $G$ when $Γ$ is the free group, answering a question of Meehan.

In previous work we equipped quiver Grassmannians for nilpotent representations of the equioriented cycle with an action of an algebraic torus. We show here that the equivariant cohomology ring is acted upon by a product of symmetric groups and we investigate this permutation action via GKM techniques. In the case of (type A) flag varieties, or Schubert varieties therein, we recover Tymoczko's results on permutation representations.
Pinnacle Set Properties

Let pi = pi_1 pi_2 ... pi_n be a permutation in the symmetric group S_n written in one-line notation. The pinnacle set of pi, denoted Pin pi, is the set of all pi_i such that pi_{i-1} < pi_i > pi_{i+1}. This is an analogue of the well-studied peak set of pi where one considers values rather than positions. The pinnacle set was introduced by Davis, Nelson, Petersen, and Tenner who showed that it has many interesting properties. In particular, they proved that the number of subsets of [n] = {1, 2, ..., n} which can be the pinnacle set of some permutation is a binomial coefficient. Their proof involved a bijection with lattice paths and was somewhat involved. We give a simpler demonstration of this result which does not need lattice paths. Moreover, we show that our map and theirs are different descriptions of the same function. Davis et al. also studied the number of pinnacle sets with maximum m and cardinality d which they denoted by p(m,d). We show that these integers are ballot numbers and give two proofs of this fact: one using finite differences and one bijective. Diaz-Lopez, Harris, Huang, Insko, and Nilsen found a summation formula for calculating the number of permutations in S_n having a given pinnacle set. We derive a new expression for this number which is faster to calculate in many cases. We also show how this method can be adapted to find the number of orderings of a pinnacle set which can be realized by some pi in S_n.
Twisted Linearized Reed-Solomon Codes: A Skew Polynomial Framework

We provide an algebraic description for sum-rank metric codes, as quotient space of a skew polynomial ring. This approach generalizes at the same time the skew group algebra setting for rank-metric codes and the polynomial setting for codes in the Hamming metric. This allows to construct twisted linearized Reed-Solomon codes, a new family of maximum sum-rank distance codes extending at the same time Sheekey's twisted Gabidulin codes in the rank metric and twisted Reed-Solomon codes in the Hamming metric. Furthermore, we provide an analogue in the sum-rank metric of Trombetti-Zhou construction, which also provides a family of maximum sum-rank distance codes. As a byproduct, in the extremal case of the Hamming metric, we obtain a new family of additive MDS codes over quadratic fields.
Geodesic Growth of some 3-dimensional RACGs
We give explicit formulas for the geodesic growth series of a Right Angled Coxeter Group (RACG) based on a link-regular graph that is 4-clique free, i.e. without tetrahedrons
Quantum partial automorphisms of finite graphs
The partial automorphisms of a graph $X$ having $N$ vertices are the bijections $σ:I\to J$ with $I,J\subset\{1,\ldots,N\}$ which leave invariant the edges. These bijections form a semigroup $\widetilde{G}(X)$, which contains the automorphism group $G(X)$. We discuss here the quantum analogue of this construction, with a definition and basic theory for the quantum semigroup of quantum partial automorphisms $\widetilde{G}^+(X)$, which contains both $G(X)$, and the quantum automorphism group $G^+(X)$. We comment as well on the case $N=\infty$, which is of particular interest, due to the fact that $\widetilde{G}^+(X)$ is well-defined, while its subgroup $G^+(X)$, not necessarily, at least with the currently known methods.

In this note we generalise some of the work of Klarner on free semigroups of affine maps acting on the real line by using a classical approach from geometric group theory (the Ping-Pong lemma). We also investigate the boundaries within which Klarner's necessary condition for a semigroup to be related is applicable.

We enlarge a Coxeter group into a category, with one object for each finite parabolic subgroup, encoding the combinatorics of double cosets. This category, the singular Coxeter monoid, is connected to the geometry of partial flag varieties. Our main result is a presentation of this category by generators and relations. We also provide a new description of reduced expressions for double cosets. We describe all the braid relations between such reduced expressions, and prove an analogue of Matsumoto's theorem. This gives a proper development of ideas first introduced by Geordie Williamson. In type A we also equip the singular Coxeter monoid with a diagrammatic presentation using webs.
Line graphs of Multi-Graphs and the forbidden graph $E_6$
The line graph $Γ$ of a multi-graph $Δ$ is the graph whose vertices are the edges of $Δ$, where two such edges are adjacent if and only if they meet in a single vertex of $Δ$.
We provide several characterizations of such line graphs and in particular show that a graph is a line graph if and only if it does not contain one of $33$ graphs, all of which correspond to bases of anisotropic vectors of a $6$-dimensional orthogonal geometry of $-$-type over a field with two elements, or, equivalently, to sets of $6$ generating reflections in the Weyl group of type $E_6$.

We study closures of conjugacy classes in the symmetric matrices of the orthogonal group and we determine which one are normal varieties. In contrast to the result for the symplectic group where all classes have normal closure, there is only a relatively small portion of classes with normal closure. We perform a combinatorial computation on top of the same methods used by Kraft-Procesi and Ohta.

We study the diameter of the graph $G(w)$ of reduced words of an element $w$ in a Coxeter group $W$ whose edges correspond to applications of the Coxeter relations. We resolve conjectures of Reiner--Roichman and Dahlberg--Kim by proving a tight lower bound on this diameter when $W=S_n$ is the symmetric group and by characterizing the equality cases. We also give partial results in other classical types which illustrate the limits of current techniques.
The automorphism group of the Andrásfai graph
Let $k \geq 1$ be an integer and $n=3k-1$. Let $\mathbb{Z}_n$ denote the additive group of integers modulo $n$ and let $C$ be the subset of $\mathbb{Z}_n$ consisting of the elements congruent to 1 modulo 3.
The Cayley graph $Cay(\mathbb{Z}_n; C)$ is known as the Andr$\acute{a}$sfai graph And($k$). In this note, we determine the automorphism group of this graph. We will show that $Aut(And(k))$ is isomorphic with the dihedral group $\mathbb{D}_{2n}$.
Designs, permutations, and transitive groups
A notion of $t$-designs in the symmetric group on $n$ letters was introduced by Godsil in 1988. In particular $t$-transitive sets of permutations form a $t$-design. We derive special lower bounds for $t=1$ and $t=2$ by a power moment method. For general $n,t$ we give a %linear programming lower bound . For $n\ge 4$ and $t=2,$ this bound is strong enough to show a lower bound on the size of such $t$-designs of $n(n-1)\dots (n-t+1),$ which is best possible when sharply $t$-transitive sets of permutations exist. This shows, in particular, that tight $2$-designs do not exist.

We enumerate Hurwitz orbits of shortest reflection factorizations of an arbitrary element in the infinite family $G(m, p, n)$ of complex reflection groups. As a consequence, we characterize the elements for which the action is transitive and give a simple criterion to tell when two shortest reflection factorizations belong to the same Hurwitz orbit. We also characterize the quasi-Coxeter elements (those with a shortest reflection factorization that generates the whole group) in $G(m, p, n)$.
On the Covering Number of $U_3(q)$
The covering number, $σ(G)$, of a finite, noncyclic group $G$ is the least positive integer $n$ such that $G$ is the union of $n$ proper subgroups. Here we investigate the covering numbers of the projective special unitary groups $U_3(q)$, give upper and lower bounds for $σ(U_3(q))$ when $q \geq 7$, and show that $σ(U_3(q))$ is asymptotic to $q^6/3$ as $q \rightarrow \infty$.

In this paper, we discuss centralizers in the Riordan group. We will see that Faà di Bruno's formula is an application of the Fundamental Theorem of Riordan arrays. Then the composition group of formal power series in ${\cal F}_1$ is studied to construct the centralizers of Bell type and Lagrange type Riordan arrays. Our tools are the $A$-sequences of Riordan arrays and Faà di Bruno's formula. Some combinatorial explanation and discussion about related algebraic topics are also given.

Let $\mathcal{H}$ be a Coxeter hyperplane arrangement in $n$-dimensional Euclidean space. Assume that the negative of the identity map belongs to the associated Coxeter group $W$. Furthermore assume that the arrangement is not of type $A_1^n$. Let $K$ be a measurable subset of the Euclidean space with finite volume which is stable by the Coxeter group $W$ and let $a$ be a point such that $K$ contains the convex hull of the orbit of the point $a$ under the group $W$. In a previous article the authors proved the generalized pizza theorem: that the alternating sum over the chambers $T$ of $\mathcal{H}$ of the volumes of the intersections $T\cap(K+a)$ is zero. In this paper we give a dissection proof of this result. In fact, we lift the identity to an abstract dissection group to obtain a similar identity that replaces the volume by any valuation that is invariant under affine isometries. This includes the cases of all intrinsic volumes. Apart from basic geometry, the main ingredient is a theorem of the authors where we relate the alternating sum of the values of certain valuations over the chambers of a Coxeter arrangement to similar alternating sums for simpler subarrangements called $2$-structures introduced by Herb to study discrete series characters of real reduced groups.
Crystals, regularisation and the Mullineux map

The Mullineux map is a combinatorial function on partitions which describes the effect of tensoring a simple module for the symmetric group in characteristic $p$ with the one-dimensional sign representation. It can also be interpreted as an isomorphism between crystal graphs for $\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_p$. We give a new combinatorial description of the Mullineux map by expressing this crystal isomorphism as a composition of isomorphisms between different crystals. These isomorphisms are defined in terms of new generalised regularisation maps introduced by Millan Berdasco.
We then given two applications of our new realisation of the Mullineux map, by providing purely combinatorial proofs of a conjecture of Lyle relating the Mullineux map with regularisation, and a theorem of Paget describing the Mullineux map in RoCK blocks of symmetric groups.
