Minimal doubling for small subsets in compact Lie groups
We prove a sharp bound for the minimal doubling of a small measurable subset of a compact connected Lie group. Namely, let $G$ be a compact connected Lie group of dimension $d_G$, we show that for for all measurable subsets $A$, we have $$μ_G(A^2) \geq \left(2^{d_G-d_H} - Cμ_G(A)^{\frac{2}{d_G-d_H}}\right)μ_G(A)$$ where $d_H$ is the maximal dimension of a proper closed subgroup $H$ and $C > 0$ is a dimensional constant. This settles a conjecture of Breuillard and Green, and recovers and improves - with completely different methods - a recent result of Jing--Tran--Zhang corresponding to the case $G=SO_3(\mathbb{R})$. As is often the case, the above doubling inequality stems from a special case of general product-set estimates. We prove that for all $ε>0$ and for any pair of sufficiently small measurable subsets $A,B$ a Brunn--Minkowski-type inequality holds:
$$ μ_G(AB)^{\frac{1}{d_G-d_H}} \geq (1-ε)\left( μ_G(A)^{\frac{1}{d_G-d_H}} + μ_G(B)^{\frac{1}{d_G-d_H}}\right).$$
Going beyond the scope of the Breuillard--Green conjecture, we prove a stability result asserting that the only subsets with close to minimal doubling are essentially neighbourhoods of proper subgroups i.e. of the form $$H_δ:=\{g \in G: d(g,H)<δ\}$$ where $H$ denotes a proper closed subgroup of maximal dimension, $d$ denotes a bi-invariant distance on $G$ and $δ>0$.
Our approach relies on a combination of two toolsets: optimal transports and its recent applications to the Brunn--Minkowski inequality, and the structure theory of compact approximate subgroups.
The Poisson degeneracy locus of a flag variety
We present a comprehensive study of the degeneracy loci of the full flag varieties of all complex semisimple Lie groups equipped with the standard Poisson structures. The reduced Poisson degeneracy loci are shown to stratify under the action of the canonical maximal torus into open Richardson varieties $\mathcal{R}_v^w$ for pairs of Weyl group elements $v \leq w$ that extend the covering relation of the Bruhat order. Four different combinatorial descriptions of those pairs are given, and it is shown that their Bruhat intervals are power sets. The corresponding closed Richardson varieties $\overline{\mathcal{R}_v^m}$ are shown to be isomorphic to $(\mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^1)^d$ for $d \geq 0$ in a compatible way with the stratification. As a consequence, we obtain that the reduced Poisson degeneracy loci of all full flag varieties are connected, and all of their irreducible components are isomorphic to $(\mathbb{C}\mathbb{P}^1)^n$ for some $n \geq 0$; they are not equidimensional in general. Using the framework of projected Richardson varieties, these results are extended to all partial flag varieties. The top dimension of irreducible components of the reduced Poisson degeneracy locus in the full flag case is proved to be equal to the cardinality of Kostant's cascade of roots and the reflective length of the longest Weyl group element. It is shown that the Poisson degeneracy loci of flag varieties are not reduced in general.
A coarse geometric approach to graph layout problems

We define a range of new coarse geometric invariants based on various graph-theoretic measures of complexity for finite graphs, including: treewidth, pathwidth, cutwidth and bandwidth. We prove that, for bounded degree graphs, these invariants can be used to define functions which satisfy a strong monotonicity property, namely they are monotonically non-decreasing with respect to a large-scale geometric generalisation of graph inclusion, and as such have potential applications in coarse geometry and geometric group theory. On the graph-theoretic side, we prove asymptotically optimal bounds on most of the above widths for the family of all finite subgraphs of any bounded degree graph whose separation profile is known to be of the form $r^a\log(r)^b$ for some $a>0$. This large class includes Diestel-Leader graphs, all Cayley graphs of non-virtually cyclic polycyclic groups, uniform lattices in almost all connected unimodular Lie groups, and many hyperbolic groups.
On the Divisibility of Degrees of Representations of Lie Algebras
Let $\mathfrak g$ be a reductive Lie algebra, and $m$ a positive integer. There is a natural density of irreducible representations of $\mathfrak g$, whose degrees are not divisible by $m$. For $\mathfrak g=\mathfrak{gl}_n$, this density decays exponentially to $0$ as $n \to \infty$. Similar results hold for simple Lie algebras and Lie groups, and there are versions for self-dual and orthogonal representations.
Parahoric Lie algebras and parasymmetric Macdonald polynomials
The main goal of this paper is to categorify the specialized parasymmetric (intermediate) Macdonald polynomials. These polynomials depend on a parabolic subalgebra of a simple Lie algebra and generalize the symmetric and nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials.
To achieve this we introduce cyclic modules of the parahoric subalgebras of the affine Kac-Moody Lie algebras such that their characters coincide with the specializations of the parasymmetric polynomials at zero and infinity. These cyclic modules are proved to coincide with standard and costandard objects in certain categories of representations of parahoric algebras. We show that the categories in question are stratified, i.e. they are graded highest weight categories. As a consequence, we derive an analog of the Peter-Weyl theorem describing the bi-module of functions on the parahoric and parabolic Lie groups via the mentioned above standard and costandard modules.
Planar networks and simple Lie groups beyond type A
The general linear group $GL_{n}$, along with its adjoint simple group $PGL_n$, can be described by means of weighted planar networks. In this paper we give a network description for simple Lie groups of types $B$ and $C$. The corresponding networks are axially symmetric modulo a sequence of cluster mutations along the axis of symmetry. We extend to this setting the result of Gekhtman, Shapiro, and Vainshtein on the Poisson property of Postnikov's boundary measurement map. We also show that $B$ and $C$ type networks with positive weights parametrize the totally nonnegative part of the respective group. Finally, we construct network parametrizations of double Bruhat cells in symplectic and odd-dimensional orthogonal groups, and identify the corresponding face weights with Fock-Goncharov cluster coordinates.
Free nilspaces, double-coset nilspaces, and Gowers norms
Compact finite-rank nilspaces have become central in the nilspace approach to higher-order Fourier analysis, notably through their role in a general form of the inverse theorem for the Gowers norms. This paper studies these nilspaces per se, and in connection with further refinements of this inverse theorem that have been conjectured recently. Our first main result states that every compact finite-rank nilspace is obtained by taking a free nilspace (a nilspace based on an abelian group of the form $\mathbb{Z}^{r}\times \mathbb{R}^s$) and quotienting this by a discrete group action of a specific type, describable in terms of polynomials. We call these group actions "higher-order lattice actions", as they generalize actions of lattices in $\mathbb{Z}^r\times \mathbb{R}^s$. The second main result (which relies on the first one) represents every compact finite-rank nilspace as a double-coset space $K\backslash G / Γ$ where $G$ is a nilpotent Lie group of a specific kind. Our third main result extends the aforementioned results to $k$-step compact nilspaces (not necessarily of finite rank), by representing any such nilspace as a quotient of infinite products of free nilspaces and also as double coset spaces $K\backslash G/Γ$ where $G$ is a degree-$k$ nilpotent pro-Lie group. These results open the study of compact nilspaces to areas more classical than nilspace theory, such as the theory of topological group actions. The results also require developing the theory of topological non-compact nilspaces, for which we provide groundwork in this paper. Applications include new inverse theorems for Gowers norms on any finite abelian group. These theorems are purely group theoretic in that the correlating harmonics are based on double-coset spaces. This yields progress towards the Jamneshan-Tao conjecture.
Structural rigidity and flexibility using graphs of groups
In structural rigidity, one studies frameworks of bars and joints in Euclidean space. Such a framework is an articulated structure consisting of rigid bars, joined together at joints around which the bars may rotate. In this paper, we will describe articulated motions of realisations of hypergraphs that uses the terminology of graph of groups, and describe the motions of such a framework using group theory. Our approach allows to model a variety of situations, such as parallel redrawings, scenes, polytopes, realisations of graphs on surfaces, and even unique colourability of graphs. This approach allows a concise description of various dualities in rigidity theory. We also provide a lower bound on the dimension of the infinitesimal motions of such a framework in the special case when the underlying group is a Lie group.
Inductive and divisional posets

We call a poset factorable if its characteristic polynomial has all positive integer roots. Inspired by inductive and divisional freeness of a central hyperplane arrangement, we introduce and study the notion of inductive posets and their superclass of divisional posets. It then motivates us to define the so-called inductive and divisional abelian (Lie group) arrangements, whose posets of layers serve as the main examples of our posets. Our first main result is that every divisional poset is factorable. Our second main result shows that the class of inductive posets contains strictly supersolvable posets, the notion recently introduced due to Bibby and Delucchi (2022). This result can be regarded as an extension of a classical result due to Jambu and Terao (1984), which asserts that every supersolvable hyperplane arrangement is inductively free. Our third main result is an application to toric arrangements, which states that the toric arrangement defined by an arbitrary ideal of a root system of type $A$, $B$ or $C$ with respect to the root lattice is inductive.
Measure growth in compact semisimple Lie groups and the Kemperman Inverse Problem
Suppose $G$ is a compact semisimple Lie group, $μ$ is the normalized Haar measure on $G$, and $A, A^2 \subseteq G$ are measurable. We show that $$μ(A^2)\geq \min\{1, 2μ(A)+ημ(A)(1-2μ(A))\}$$ with the absolute constant $η>0$ (independent from the choice of $G$) quantitatively determined. We also show a more general result for connected compact groups without a toric quotient and resolve the Kemperman Inverse Problem from 1964.
Generating functions for some series of characters of classical Lie groups
There exist a number of well known multiplicative generating functions for series of Schur functions. Amongst these are some related to the dual Cauchy identity whose expansion coefficients are rather simple, and in some cases periodic in parameters specifying the Schur functions. More recently similar identities have been found involving expansions in terms of characters of the symplectic group. Here these results are extended and generalised to all classical Lie groups. This is done through the derivation of explicit recurrence relations for the expansion coefficients based on the action of the Weyl groups of both the symplectic and orthogonal groups. Copious results are tabulated in the form of explicit values of the expansion coefficients as functions of highest weight parameters. An alternative approach is then based on dual pairs of symplectic and/or orthogonal groups. A byproduct of this approach is that expansions in terms of spin orthogonal group characters can always be recovered from non-spin cases.

We point out how to use the classical characteristic method, that is used to solve quasilinear PDE's, to obtain the matrix exponential of some lower triangle infinite matrices. We use the Lie Frechet structure of the Riordan group described in [4]. After that we describe some linear dynamical systems in $\mathbb{K}[[x]]$ with a concrete involution being a symmetry or a time-reversal symmetry for them. We take this opportunity to assign some dynamical properties to the Pascal Triangle.

This paper continues the study of two numbers that are associated with Lie groups. The first number is $N(G,m)$, the number of conjugacy classes of elements in $G$ whose order divides $m$. The second number is $N(G,m,s)$, the number of conjugacy classes of elements in $G$ whose order divides $m$ and which have $s$ distinct eigenvalues, where we view $G$ as a matrix group in its smallest-degree faithful representation. We describe systematic algorithms for computing both numbers for $G$ a connected and simply-connected exceptional Lie group. We also provide explicit results for all of $N(G,m)$, $N(G_2,m,s)$, and $N(F_4,m,s)$. The numbers $N(G,m,s)$ were previously known only for the classical Lie groups; our results for $N(G,m)$ agree with those already in the literature but are obtained differently.

Let $G$ be a non-compact classical semisimple Lie group and let $G/V$ be the adjoint orbit with respect to a fixed element in $G$. These manifolds can be equipped with an almost-Kähler structure and we provide explicit formulae for the existence of special almost-complex structures on $G/V$ purely in terms of the combinatorics of the associated Vogan diagram. The formulae are given separately for Lie groups whose Lie algebras are of type $A_{\ell}$, $B_{\ell}$, $C_{\ell}$, $D_{\ell}$, where $\ell$ denotes the rank of the Lie algebra.
Incidence geometries with trialities coming from maps with Wilson trialities

Triality is a classical notion in geometry that arose in the context of the Lie groups of type $D_4$. Another notion of triality, Wilson triality, appears in the context of reflexible maps. We build a bridge between these two notions, showing how to construct an incidence geometry with a triality from a map that admits a Wilson triality. We also extend a result by Jones and Poulton, showing that for every prime power $q$, the group ${\rm L}_2(q^3)$ has maps that admit Wilson trialities but no dualities.
Methods of free probability
This is a joint introduction to classical and free probability, which are twin sisters. We first review the foundations of classical probability, notably with the main limiting theorems (CLT, CCLT, PLT, CPLT), and with a look into examples coming from Lie groups and random matrices. Then we present the foundations and main results of free probability, notably with free limiting theorems, and with a look into examples coming from quantum groups and random matrices. We discuss then a number of more advanced aspects, in relation with free geometry and with subfactor theory.
Cluster structures on braid varieties

We show the existence of cluster $\mathcal{A}$-structures and cluster Poisson structures on any braid variety, for any simple Lie group. The construction is achieved via weave calculus and a tropicalization of Lusztig's coordinates. Several explicit seeds are provided and the quiver and cluster variables are readily computable. We prove that these upper cluster algebras equal their cluster algebras, show local acyclicity, and explicitly determine their DT-transformations as the twist automorphisms of braid varieties. The main result also resolves the conjecture of B. Leclerc on the existence of cluster algebra structures on the coordinate rings of open Richardson varieties.
Prescribed graphon symmetries and flavors of rigidity
We prove that an arbitrary compact metrizable group can be realized as the automorphism group of a graphing; this is a continuous analogue to Frucht's theorem recovering arbitrary finite groups are automorphism groups of finite graphs.
The paper also contains a number of results the persistence of transitivity of a compact-group action upon passing to a limit of graphons. Call a compact group $\mathbb{G}$ graphon-rigid if, whenever it acts transitively on each member $Γ_n$ of a convergent sequence of graphons, it also acts transitively on the limit $\lim_n Γ$. We show that for a compact Lie group $\mathbb{G}$ graphon rigidity is equivalent to the identity component $\mathbb{G}_0$ being semisimple; as a partial converse to a result of Lovász and Szegedy, this is also equivalent to weak randomness: the property that the group have only finitely many irreducible representations in each dimension. Similarly, call a compact group $\mathbb{G}$ image-rigid if for every compact Lie group $\mathbb{H}$ the images of morphisms $\mathbb{G}\to \mathbb{H}$ form a closed set (of closed subgroups, in the natural topology). We prove that graphon rigidity implies image rigidity for compact groups that are either connected or profinite, and the two conditions are equivalent (and also equivalent to being torsion) for profinite abelian groups.

The aim of this paper is to determine the asymptotic growth rate of the complexity function of cut-and-project sets in the non-abelian case. In the case of model sets of polytopal type in homogeneous two-step nilpotent Lie groups we can establish that the complexity function asymptotically behaves like $r^{homdim(G) dim(H)}$. Further we generalize the concept of acceptance domains to locally compact second countable groups.
Convex Polyhedra in the $3$-Sphere and Tilings of the $2$-Sphere
We show that for every convex polyhedral sphere $P$ in $S^3$, there exist two canonical, non-edge-to-edge tilings of $S^{2}$ whose tiles are given by all the faces of $P$ and the dual convex polyhedral sphere $P^*$ to $P$. Under the identifications of $S^{3}$ with the Lie group $SU(2)$, and of $S^{2}$ with the unit sphere in the Lie algebra $su(2)$ of $SU(2)$, our result is obtained by considering the set $\widetilde P$ of outward unit normal vectors to $P$ and the maps from $\widetilde P$ to $S^{2}$ defined by using the left and right Maurer-Cartan forms on $SU(2)$.
