Restricted Partitions and $SL_2$ Cohomology
The aim of this paper is twofold. First, we study the number of partitions of a positive integer $m$ into at most $n$ parts in a given set $A$. We prove that such a number is bounded by the $n$-th Fibonacci number $F(n)$ for any $m$ and some family of sets $A$ including sets of powers of an integer. Then, in the second part of the paper, we provide new results in bounding the cohomology of the simple algebraic group $SL_2$ with coefficients in Weyl modules.
(I,F)-partition of planar graphs without cycles of length 4, 6, or 9
A graph $G$ is $(I,F)$-partitionable if its vertex set can be partitioned into two parts such that one part is an independent set, and the other induces a forest. In this paper, we prove that every planar graph without cycles of length $4, 6, 9$ is $(I,F)$-partitionable.
Odd Chromatic Number of Graph Classes
A graph is called odd (respectively, even) if every vertex has odd (respectively, even) degree. Gallai proved that every graph can be partitioned into two even induced subgraphs, or into an odd and an even induced subgraph. We refer to a partition into odd subgraphs as an odd colouring of G. Scott [Graphs and Combinatorics, 2001] proved that a graph admits an odd colouring if and only if it has an even number of vertices. We say that a graph G is k-odd colourable if it can be partitioned into at most k odd induced subgraphs. We initiate the systematic study of odd colouring and odd chromatic number of graph classes. In particular, we consider for a number of classes whether they have bounded odd chromatic number. Our main results are that interval graphs, graphs of bounded modular-width and graphs of bounded maximum degree all have bounded odd chromatic number.
Combinatorial wall-crossing for the sign representation of prime size
We present an algorithm to calculate the result of combinatorial wall-crossing at every step starting with the column partition of prime size. This algorithm is confirmed by computer calculations. The output of the algorithm is consistent with Bezrukavnikov's conjecture in the case of the sign representation.
On the number of parts in all partitions enumerated by the Rogers-Ramanujan identities
The celebrated Rogers-Ramanujan identities equate the number of integer partitions of $n$ ($n\in\mathbb N_0$) with parts congruent to $\pm 1 \pmod{5}$ (respectively $\pm 2 \pmod{5}$) and the number of partitions of $n$ with super-distinct parts (respectively super-distinct parts greater than $1$). In this paper, we establish companion identities to the Rogers-Ramanujan identities on the number of parts in all partitions of $n$ of the aforementioned types, in the spirit of earlier work by Andrews and Beck on a partition identity of Euler.
On subtensors of high partition rank
We prove that for every positive integer $d \ge 2$ there exist polynomial functions $F_d, G_d: \mathbb{N} \to \mathbb{N}$ such that for each positive integer $r$, every order-$d$ tensor $T$ over an arbitrary field and with partition rank at least $G_d(r)$ contains a $F_d(r) \times \cdots \times F_d(r)$ subtensor with partition rank at least $r$. We then deduce analogous results on the Schmidt rank of polynomials in zero or high characteristic.
The Critical Beta-splitting Random Tree II: Overview and Open Problems
In the critical beta-splitting model of a random $n$-leaf rooted tree, clades are recursively (from the root) split into sub-clades, and a clade of $m$ leaves is split into sub-clades containing $i$ and $m-i$ leaves with probabilities $\propto 1/(i(m-i))$. Study of structure theory and explicit quantitative aspects of this model (in discrete or continuous versions) is an active research topic. For many results there are different proofs, probabilistic or analytic, so the model provides a testbed for a ``compare and contrast" discussion of techniques. This article provides an overview of results proved in the sequence of similarly-titled articles I, III, IV and related articles. We mostly do not repeat proofs given elsewhere: instead we seek to paint a ``Big Picture" via graphics and heuristics, and emphasize open problems.
Our discussion is centered around three categories of results. (i) There is a CLT for leaf heights, and the analytic proofs can be extended to provide surprisingly precise analysis of other height-related aspects. (ii) There is an explicit description of the limit {\em fringe distribution} relative to a random leaf, whose graphical representation is essentially the format of the cladogram representation of biological phylogenies. (iii) There is a canonical embedding of the discrete model into a continuous-time model, that is a random tree CTCS(n) on $n$ leaves with real-valued edge lengths, and this model turns out more convenient to study. The family (CTCS(n), n \ge 2) is consistent under a ``delete random leaf and prune" operation. That leads to an explicit inductive construction of (CTCS(n), n \ge 2) as $n$ increases, and then to a limit structure CTCS($\infty$) formalized via exchangeable partitions.
Many open problems remain, in particular to elucidate a relation between CTCS($\infty$) and the $β(2,1)$ coalescent.
The Aharoni--Korman conjecture for posets whose incomparability graph is locally finite
Aharoni and Korman (Order 9 (1992) 245--253) have conjectured that every ordered set without infinite antichains possesses a chain and a partition into antichains so that each part intersects the chain. The conjecture is verified for posets whose incomparability graph is locally finite. It follows that the conjecture is true for $(3 + 1)$-free posets with no infinite antichains.

We provide a refined combinatorial identity for the set of partitions of $\{1,\dots, n\}$, which plays an important role in investigating several limit theorems related to finite free convolutions. Firstly, we present the finite free analogue of Sakuma and Yoshida's limit theorem. That is, we provide the limit of $\{D_{1/m}((p_d^{\boxtimes_d m})^{\boxplus_d m})\}_{m\in \mathbb{N}}$ as $m\rightarrow\infty$ in two cases: (i) $m/d\rightarrow t$ for some $t>0$, or (ii) $m/d\rightarrow0$. The second application presents a central limit theorem for finite free multiplicative convolution. We establish a connection between this theorem and the multiplicative free semicircular distributions through combinatorial identities. Our last result gives alternative proofs for Kabluchko's limit theorems concerning the unitary Hermite and the Laguerre polynomials.
Packing colourings in complete bipartite graphs and the inverse problem for correspondence packing
Applications of graph colouring often involve taking restrictions into account, and it is desirable to have multiple (disjoint) solutions. In the optimal case, where there is a partition into disjoint colourings, we speak of a packing. However, even for complete bipartite graphs, the list chromatic number can be arbitrarily large, and its exact determination is generally difficult. For the packing variant, this question becomes even harder.
In this paper, we study the correspondence- and list packing numbers of (asymmetric) complete bipartite graphs. In the most asymmetric cases, Latin squares come into play. Our results show that every $z \in \mathbb Z^+ \setminus {3}$ can be equal to the correspondence packing number of a graph. Additionally, we disprove a recent conjecture that relates the list packing number and the list flexibility number.
Triangular Diagonal Harmonics Conjectures
The purpose of this paper is mostly to present conjectures that extend, to the ``triangular partition'' context (partitions ``under any line'' in the terminology of Blaziak-Haiman-Morse-Pun-Seelinger), properties of Frobenius of multivariate diagonal harmonics modules
A unified treatment of families of partition functions
We present a unified framework of combinatorial descriptions, and the analogous asymptotic growth of the coefficients of two general families of functions related to integer partitions. In particular, we resolve several conjectures and verify several claims that are posted on the On-Line Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences. We perform the asymptotic analysis by systematically applying the Mellin transform, residue analysis, and the saddle point method. The combinatorial descriptions of these families of generalized partition functions involve colorings of Young tableaux, along with their ``divisor diagrams'', denoted with sets of colors whose sizes are controlled by divisor functions.
Log-Concavity of Infinite Product and Infinite Sum Generating Functions
We expand on the remark by Andrews on the importance of infinite sums and products in combinatorics. Let $\{g_d(n)\}_{d\geq 0,n \geq 1}$ be the double sequences $σ_d(n)= \sum_{\ell \mid n} \ell^d$ or $ψ_d(n)= n^d$. We associate double sequences $\left\{ p^{g_{d} }\left( n\right) \right\}$ and $\left\{ q^{g_{d} }\left( n\right) \right\} $, defined as the coefficients of \begin{eqnarray*} \sum_{n=0}^{\infty} p^{g_{d} }\left( n\right) \, t^{n} & := & \prod_{n=1}^{\infty} \left( 1 - t^{n} \right)^{-\frac{ \sum_{\ell \mid n} μ(\ell) \, g_d(n/\ell) }{n} }, \\ \sum_{n=0}^{\infty} q^{g_{d} }\left( n\right) \, t^{n} & := & \frac{1}{1 - \sum_{n=1}^{\infty} g_d(n) \, t^{n} }. \end{eqnarray*} These coefficients are related to the number of partitions $\mathrm{p}\left( n\right) = p^{σ_{1 }}\left ( n\right) $, plane partitions $pp\left( n\right) = p^{σ_{2 }}\left( n\right) $ of $n$, and Fibonacci numbers $F_{2n} = q^{ψ_{1 }}\left( n\right) $. Let $n \geq 3$ and let $n \equiv 0 \pmod{3}$. Then the coefficients are log-concave at $n$ for almost all $d$ in the exponential and geometric cases. The coefficients are not log-concave for almost all $d$ in both cases, if $n \equiv 2 \pmod{3}$. Let $n\equiv 1 \pmod{3}$. Then the log-concave property flips for almost all $d$.
Maximal Clique and Edge-Ranking Bounds of Biclique Cover Number
The biclique cover number $(\text{bc})$ of a graph $G$ denotes the minimum number of complete bipartite (biclique) subgraphs to cover all the edges of the graph. In this paper, we show that $\text{bc}(G) \geq \lceil \log_2(\text{mc}(G^c)) \rceil \geq \lceil \log_2(χ(G)) \rceil$ for an arbitrary graph $G$, where $χ(G)$ is the chromatic number of $G$ and $\text{mc}(G^c)$ is the number of maximal cliques of the complementary graph $G^c$, i.e., the number of maximal independent sets of $G$. We also show that $\lceil \log_2(\text{mc}(G^c)) \rceil$ could be a strictly tighter lower bound of the biclique cover number than other existing lower bounds. We can also provide a bound of $\text{bc}(G)$ with respect to the biclique partition number ($\text{bp}$) of $G$: $\text{bc}(G) \geq \lceil \log_2(\text{bp}(G) + 1) \rceil$ or $\text{bp}(G) \leq 2^{\text{bc}(G)} - 1$ if $G$ is co-chordal. Furthermore, we show that $\text{bc}(G) \leq χ_r'(T_{{K}^c})$, where $G$ is a co-chordal graph such that each vertex is in at most two maximal independent sets and $χ_r'({T}_{{K}^c})$ is the optimal edge-ranking number of a clique tree of $G^c$.
An application of Grothendieck theorem to the theory of multicorrelation sequences, multiple recurrence and partition regularity of quadratic equations
We use Grothendieck theorem to prove a structure theorem for multicorrelation sequences of length two, associated with two (not necessarily commuting) measure preserving actions on a probability space. We use this to deduce a multiple recurrence result concerning products of linear terms, and a partition regularity result of certain systems of quadratic equations, building on the work of Frantzikinakis and Host.
A q-analog of certain symmetric functions and one of its specializations
Let the symmetric functions be defined for the pair of integers $\left( n,r\right) $, $n\geq r\geq 1$, by $p_{n}^{\left( r\right) }=\sum m_{λ}$ where $m_{λ}$ are the monomial symmetric functions, the sum being over the partitions $λ$ of the integer $n$ with length $r$. We introduce by a generating function, a $q$-analog of $p_{n}^{\left( r\right) }$ and give some of its properties. This $q$-analog is related to its the classical form using the $q$-Stirling numbers. We also start with the same procedure the study of a $p,q$-analog of $p_{n}^{\left( r\right) }$.
By specialization of this $q$-analog in the series $\sum\nolimits_{n=0}^{ \infty }q^{\binom{n}{2}}t^{n}/n!$, we recover in a purely formal way$\ $a class of polynomials $J_{n}^{\left( r\right) }$ historically introduced as combinatorial enumerators, in particular of tree inversions. This also results in a new linear recurrence for those polynomials whose triangular table can be constructed, row by row, from the initial conditions $ J_{r}^{\left( r\right) }=1$. The form of this recurrence is also given for the reciprocal polynomials of $J_{n}^{\left( r\right) }$, known to be the sum enumerators of parking functions. Explicit formulas for $J_{n}^{\left( r\right) }$ and their reciprocals are deduced, leading inversely to new representations of these polynomials as forest statistics.
Graphs with minimum fractional domatic number
The domatic number of a graph is the maximum number of vertex disjoint dominating sets that partition the vertex set of the graph. In this paper we consider the fractional variant of this notion. Graphs with fractional domatic number 1 are exactly the graphs that contain an isolated vertex. Furthermore, it is known that all other graphs have fractional domatic number at least 2. In this note we characterize graphs with fractional domatic number 2. More specifically, we show that a graph without isolated vertices has fractional domatic number 2 if and only if it has a vertex of degree 1 or a connected component isomorphic to a 4-cycle. We conjecture that if the fractional domatic number is more than 2, then it is at least 7/3.

Let $R_n=\mathbb{Q}[x_1,x_2,\ldots,x_n]$ be the ring of polynomial in $n$ variables and consider the ideal $\langle \mathrm{QSym}_{n}^{+}\rangle\subseteq R_n$ generated by quasisymmetric polynomials without constant term. It was shown by J.~C.~Aval, F.~Bergeron and N.~Bergeron that $\dim\big(R_n\big/\langle \mathrm{QSym}_{n}^{+} \rangle\big)=C_n$ the $n$th Catalan number. In the present work, we explain this phenomenon by defining a set of permutations $\mathrm{QSV}_{n}$ with the following properties: first, $\mathrm{QSV}_{n}$ is a basis of the Temperley--Lieb algebra $\mathsf{TL}_{n}(2)$, and second, when considering $\mathrm{QSV}_{n}$ as a collection of points in $\mathbb{Q}^{n}$, the top-degree homogeneous component of the vanishing ideal $\mathbf{I}(\mathrm{QSV}_{n})$ is $\langle \mathrm{QSym}_{n}^{+}\rangle$.
Our construction has a few byproducts which are independently noteworthy. We define an equivalence relation $\sim$ on the symmetric group $S_{n}$ using weak excedances and show that its equivalence classes are naturally indexed by noncrossing partitions. Each equivalence class is an interval in the Bruhat order between an element of $\mathrm{QSV}_{n}$ and a $321$-avoiding permutation. Furthermore, the Bruhat order induces a well-defined order on $S_{n}\big/\!\!\sim$. Finally, we show that any section of the quotient $S_{n}\big/\!\!\sim$ gives an (often novel) basis for $\mathsf{TL}_{n}(2)$.
Edge coalitions in graphs
An edge coalition in a graph $G=(V,E)$ consists of two disjoint sets of edges $E_1$ and $E_2$, neither of which is an edge dominating set but whose union $E_1\cup E_2$ is an edge dominating set. An edge coalition partition in a graph $G$ of order $n=|V|$ and size $m$ is an edge partition $π=\{E_1,\cdots,E_k\}$ so that every set $E_i$ of $π$ either is a singleton edge dominating set, or is not an edge dominating set but forms an edge coalition with another set $E_j$ which is not an edge dominating set. In this paper we introduce the concept of edge coalition and show that there exists edge coalition for some graphs and trees. The graphs $G$ with small and size number of edge coalition are characterized. Finally, coalition graphs of special graphs are studied.
Vector space partitions of $\operatorname{GF}(2)^8$
A vector space partition $\mathcal{P}$ of the projective space $\operatorname{PG}(v-1,q)$ is a set of subspaces in $\operatorname{PG}(v-1,q)$ which partitions the set of points. We say that a vector space partition $\mathcal{P}$ has type $(v-1)^{m_{v-1}} \dots 2^{m_2}1^{m_1}$ if precisely $m_i$ of its elements have dimension $i$, where $1\le i\le v-1$. Here we determine all possible types of vector space partitions in $\operatorname{PG}(7,2)$.
