A remark about 6j symbols and young semi-normal form
We compute some 6j symbols in the category of polynomial representations of $GL(\infty)$.
Polynomial representation for the expected length of minimal spanning trees
In this paper, we investigate the polynomial integrand of an integral formula that yields the expected length of the minimal spanning tree of a graph whose edges are uniformly distributed over the interval [0, 1]. In particular, we derive a general formula for the coefficients of the polynomial and apply it to express the first few coefficients in terms of the structure of the underlying graph; e.g. number of vertices, edges and cycles.
Representing Boolean Functions Using Polynomials: More Can Offer Less

Polynomial threshold gates are basic processing units of an artificial neural network. When the input vectors are binary vectors, these gates correspond to Boolean functions and can be analyzed via their polynomial representations. In practical applications, it is desirable to find a polynomial representation with the smallest number of terms possible, in order to use the least possible number of input lines to the unit under consideration. For this purpose, instead of an exact polynomial representation, usually the sign representation of a Boolean function is considered. The non-uniqueness of the sign representation allows the possibility for using a smaller number of monomials by solving a minimization problem. This minimization problem is combinatorial in nature, and so far the best known deterministic algorithm claims the use of at most $0.75\times 2^n$ of the $2^n$ total possible monomials. In this paper, the basic methods of representing a Boolean function by polynomials are examined, and an alternative approach to this problem is proposed. It is shown that it is possible to use at most $0.5\times 2^n = 2^{n-1}$ monomials based on the $\{0, 1\}$ binary inputs by introducing extra variables, and at the same time keeping the degree upper bound at $n$. An algorithm for further reduction of the number of terms that used in a polynomial representation is provided. Examples show that in certain applications, the improvement achieved by the proposed method over the existing methods is significant.

Standard multipartitions and a combinatorial affine Schur-Weyl duality

We introduce the notion of standard multipartitions and establish a one-to-one correspondence between standard multipartitions and irreducible representations with integral weights for the affine Hecke algebra of type A with a parameter q which is not a root of unity. We then extend the correspondence to all Kleshchev multipartitions for Ariki-Koike algebras of integral type. By the affine Schur--Weyl duality, we further extend this to a correspondence between standard multipartitions and Drinfeld multipolynomials of integral type whose associated irreducible polynomial representations completely determine all irreducible polynomial representations for the quantum loop algebra. We will see, in particular, the notion of standard multipartitions gives rise to a combinatorial description of the affine Schur--Weyl duality in terms of a column-reading vs. row reading of residues of a multipartition.
Representations of general linear groups and categorical actions of Kac-Moody algebras
This is an expanded version of the lectures given by the author on the 3rd school "Lie algebras, algebraic groups and invariant theory" in Togliatti, Russia. In these notes we explain the concept of a categorical Kac-Moody action by studying an example of the category of rational representations of a general linear group in positive characteristic. We also deal with some more advanced topics: a categorical action on the polynomial representations and crystals of categorical actions.
Highest weight sl_2-categorifications I: crystals

We define highest weight categorical actions of sl_2 on highest weight categories and show that basically all known examples of categorical sl_2-actions on highest weight categories (including rational and polynomial representations of general linear groups, parabolic categories O of type $A$, categories O for cyclotomic Rational Cherednik algebras) are highest weight in our sense. Our main result is an explicit combinatorial description of (the labels of) the crystal on the set of simple objects. A new application of this is to determining the supports of simple modules over the cyclotomic Rational Cherednik algebras starting from their labels.
On polynomial representation functions for multilinear forms
Given an infinite sequence of positive integers $\cA$, we prove that for every nonnegative integer $k$ the number of solutions of the equation $n=a_1+...+a_k$, $a_1,\,..., a_k\in \cA$, is not constant for $n$ large enough. This result is a corollary of our main theorem, which partially answers a question of Sárközy and Sós on representation functions for multilinear forms. Additionally, we obtain an Erdős-Fuchs type result for a wide variety of representation functions.
Deformed Kazhdan-Lusztig elements and Macdonald polynomials

We introduce deformations of Kazhdan-Lusztig elements and specialised nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials, both of which form a distinguished basis of the polynomial representation of a maximal parabolic subalgebra of the Hecke algebra. We give explicit integral formula for these polynomials, and explicitly describe the transition matrices between classes of polynomials. We further develop a combinatorial interpretation of homogeneous evaluations using an expansion in terms of Schubert polynomials in the deformation parameters.

This paper introduces a simple and computationally efficient algorithm for conversion formulae between moments and cumulants. The algorithm provides just one formula for classical, boolean and free cumulants. This is realized by using a suitable polynomial representation of Abel polynomials. The algorithm relies on the classical umbral calculus, a symbolic language introduced by Rota and Taylor in 1994, that is particularly suited to be implemented by using software for symbolic computations. Here we give a MAPLE procedure. Comparisons with existing procedures, especially for conversions between moments and free cumulants, as well as examples of applications to some well-known distributions (classical and free) end the paper.

We describe a software package for constructing minimal free resolutions of GL_n(Q)-equivariant graded modules M over Q[x_1, ..., x_n] such that for all i, the ith syzygy module of M is generated in a single degree. We do so by describing some algorithms for manipulating polynomial representations of the general linear group GL_n(Q) following ideas of Olver and Eisenbud-Floystad-Weyman.

The concept of permutograph is introduced and properties of integral functions on permutographs are established. The central result characterizes the class of integral functions that are representable as lattice polynomials. This result is used to establish lattice polynomial representations of piecewise linear functions on convex domains and continuous selectors on linear orders.
A combinatorial realization of Schur-Weyl duality via crystal graphs and dual equivalence graphs

For any polynomial representation of the special linear group, the nodes of the corresponding crystal may be indexed by semi-standard Young tableaux. Under certain conditions, the standard Young tableaux occur, and do so with weight 0. Standard Young tableaux also parametrize the vertices of dual equivalence graphs. Motivated by the underlying representation theory, in this paper, we explainthis connection by giving a combinatorial manifestation of Schur-Weyl duality. In particular, we put a dual equivalence graph structure on the 0-weight space of certain crystal graphs, producing edges combinatorially from the crystal edges. The construction can be expressed in terms of the local characterizations given by Stembridge for crystal graphs and the author for dual equivalence graphs.

We determine the necessary and sufficient combinatorial conditions for which the tensor product of two irreducible polynomial representations of $GL(n,\mathbb{C})$ is isomorphic to another. As a consequence we discover families of Littlewood-Richardson coefficients that are non-zero, and a condition on Schur non-negativity.

The Yangian of the Lie algebra $gl_N$ has a distinguished family of irreducible finite-dimensional representations, called elementary representations. They are parametrized by pairs, consisting of a skew Young diagram and a complex number. Each of these representations has an explicit realization, it extends the classical realization of the irreducible polynomial representations of $gl_N$ by means of the Young symmetrizers. We explicitly construct analogues of these elementary representations for the twisted Yangian, which corresponds to the Lie algebra $so_N$. Our construction provides solutions to several open problems in the classical representation theory. In particular, we obtain analogues of the Young symmetrizers for the Brauer centralizer algebra.
