New Lower Bounds for Permutation Codes using Linear Block Codes
In this paper we prove new lower bounds for the maximal size of permutation codes by connecting the theory of permutation codes with the theory of linear block codes. More specifically, using the columns of a parity check matrix of an $[n,k,d]_q$ linear block code, we are able to prove the existence of a permutation code in the symmetric group of degree $n$, having minimum distance at least $d$ and large cardinality. With our technique, we obtain new lower bounds for permutation codes that enhance the ones in the literature and provide asymptotic improvements in certain regimes of length and distance of the permutation code.

Let $\overrightarrow{G}$ be a directed graph with no component of orderless than~$3$, and let $Γ$ be a finite Abelian group such that
$|Γ|\geq 4|V(\overrightarrow{G})|$ or if $|V(\overrightarrow{G})|$ is large enough with respect to an arbitrarily fixed $\varepsilon>0$ then
$|Γ|\geq (1+\varepsilon)|V(\overrightarrow{G})|$. We show that there exists an injective mapping $\varphi$ from $V(\overrightarrow{G})$ to the group $Γ$ such that $\sum_{x\in V(C)}\varphi(x) = 0$ for every connected component $C$ of $\overrightarrow{G}$, where $0$ is the identity element of $Γ$. Moreover we show some applications of this result to group distance magic labelings.
Extensions of Schreiber's theorem on discrete approximate subgroups in $\mathbb{R}^d$
In this paper we give an alternative proof of Schreiber's theorem which says that an infinite discrete approximate subgroup in $\mathbb{R}^d$ is relatively dense around a subspace. We also deduce from Schreiber's theorem two new results. The first one says that any infinite discrete approximate subgroup in $\mathbb{R}^d$ is a restriction of a Meyer set to a thickening of a linear subspace in $\mathbb{R}^d$, and the second one provides an extension of Schreiber's theorem to the case of the Heisenberg group.
Existence of regular $3$-hypertopes with $2^n$ chambers
For any positive integers $n, s, t, l$ such that $n \geq 10$, $s, t \geq 2$, $l \geq 1$ and $n \geq s+t+l$, a new infinite family of regular 3-hypertopes with type $(2^s, 2^t, 2^l)$ and automorphism group of order $2^n$ is constructed.

Using Reiner's definition of Stirling numbers of the second kind in types $B$ and $D$, we generalize two well-known identities concerning the classical Stirling numbers of the second kind. The first identity relates them with Eulerian numbers and the second identity interprets them as entries in a transition matrix between the elements of two standard bases of the polynomial ring $R[x]$. Finally, we generalize these identities to the group of colored permutations $G_{m,n}$.
A classification of the m-graphical regular representation of finite groups
In this paper we extend the classical notion of digraphical and graphical regular representation of a group and we classify, by means of an explicit description, the finite groups satisfying this generalization. A graph or digraph is called regular if each vertex has the same valency, or, the same out-valency and the same in-valency, respectively. An m-(di)graphical regular representation (respectively, m-GRR and m-DRR, for short) of a group G is a regular (di)graph whose automorphism group is isomorphic to G and acts semiregularly on the vertex set with m orbits. When m=1, this definition agrees with the classical notion of GRR and DRR. Finite groups admitting a 1-DRR were classified by Babai in 1980, and the analogue classification of finite groups admitting a 1-GRR was completed by Godsil in 1981. Pivoting on these two results in this paper we classify finite groups admitting an m-GRR or an m-DRR, for arbitrary positive integers m. For instance, we prove that every non-identity finite group admits an m-GRR, for every m>4.
Regular maps of order $2$-powers
In this paper, we consider the possible types of regular maps of order $2^n$, where the order of a regular map is the order of automorphism group of the map. For $n \le 11$, M. Conder classified all regular maps of order $2^n$. It is easy to classify regular maps of order $2^n$ whose valency or covalency is $2$ or $2^{n-1}$. So we assume that $n \geq 12$ and $2\leq s,t\leq n-2$ with $s\leq t$ to consider regular maps of order $2^n$ with type $\{2^s, 2^t\}$. We show that for $s+t\leq n$ or for $s+t>n$ with $s=t$, there exists a regular map of order $2^n$ with type $\{2^s, 2^t\}$, and furthermore, we classify regular maps of order $2^n$ with types $\{2^{n-2},2^{n-2}\}$ and $\{2^{n-3},2^{n-3}\}$. We conjecture that, if $s+t>n$ with $s<t$, then there is no regular map of order $2^n$ with type $\{2^s, 2^t\}$, and we confirm the conjecture for $t=n-2$ and $n-3$.

For each $d\geq 3$, $n \geq 10$, and $k_1, k_2, \ldots, k_{d-1}\geq 2$ with $k_1+k_2+\ldots+k_{d-1}\leq n-1$, we construct a regular $d$-polytope whose automorphism group is of order $2^n$ and whose Schläfli type is $\{2^{k_1},2^{k_2}, \ldots, 2^{k_{d-1}}\}$.
On the non-existence of certain transitive actions of solvable groups on symplectic spreads
We prove the following result. Let q be a power of an odd prime and let Sp(2m,q) denote the symplectic group of degree 2m over F_q. Then if q=1 mod 4, no solvable subgroup of Sp(2m,q) acts transitively on a complete symplectic spread defined on the underlying vector space of dimension 2m, unless m=1 and q=5. The solvable group Sp(2,3) of order 24 acts transitively on a complete symplectic spread defined on a two-dimensional vector space over F_5. By contrast, when q=3 mod 4, there is a metacyclic group of order 2m(q^m+1) that acts transitively on a complete symplectic spread.
A note on strong Skolem starters
In 1991, Shalaby conjectured that any additive group $\mathbb{Z}_n$, where $n\equiv1$ or 3 (mod 8) and $n \geq11$, admits a strong Skolem starter and constructed these starters of all admissible orders $11\leq n\leq57$. Only finitely many strong Skolem starters have been known. Recently, in [O. Ogandzhanyants, M. Kondratieva and N. Shalaby, \emph{Strong Skolem Starters}, J. Combin. Des. {\bf 27} (2018), no. 1, 5--21] was given an infinite families of them. In this note, an infinite family of strong Skolem starters for $\mathbb{Z}_n$, where $n\equiv3$ mod 8 is a prime integer, is presented.

Buch, Kresch, Shimozono, Tamvakis, and Yong defined Hecke insertion to formulate a combinatorial rule for the expansion of the stable Grothendieck polynomials $G_π$ indexed by permutations in the basis of stable Grothendieck polynomials $G_λ$ indexed by partitions. Patrias and Pylyavskyy introduced a shifted analogue of Hecke insertion whose natural domain is the set of maximal chains in a weak order on orbit closures of the orthogonal group acting on the complete flag variety. We construct a generalization of shifted Hecke insertion for maximal chains in an analogous weak order on orbit closures of the symplectic group. As an application, we identify a combinatorial rule for the expansion of "orthogonal" and "symplectic" shifted analogues of $G_π$ in Ikeda and Naruse's basis of $K$-theoretic Schur $P$-functions.
Strong difference families of special types
Strong difference families of special types are introduced to produce new relative difference families from the point of view of both asymptotic existences and concrete examples. As applications, group divisible designs of type $30^u$ with block size $6$ are discussed, $r$-rotational balanced incomplete block designs with block size $6$ are derived for $r\in\{6,10\}$, and several classes of optimal optical orthogonal codes with weight $5$, $6$, $7$, or $8$ are obtained.
Schubert Derivations on the Infinite Wedge Power
The {\em Schubert derivation} is a distinguished Hasse-Schmidt derivation on the exterior algebra of a free abelian group, encoding the formalism of Schubert calculus for all Grassmannians at once. The purpose of this paper is to extend the Schubert derivation to the infinite exterior power of a free ${\mathbb Z}$-module of infinite rank (fermionic Fock space). Classical vertex operators naturally arise from the {\em integration by parts formula}, that also recovers the generating function occurring in the {\em bosonic vertex representation} of the Lie algebra $gl_\infty({\mathbb Z})$, due to Date, Jimbo, Kashiwara and Miwa (DJKM). In the present framework, the DJKM result will be interpreted as a limit case of the following general observation: the singular cohomology of the complex Grassmannian $G(r,n)$ is an irreducible representation of the Lie algebra of $n\times n$ square matrices.}

Let $Γ$ be the graph on the roots of the $E_8$ root system, where any two distinct vertices $e$ and $f$ are connected by an edge with color equal to the inner product of $e$ and $f$. For any set $c$ of colors, let $Γ_c$ be the subgraph of $Γ$ consisting of all the $240$ vertices, and all the edges whose color lies in $c$. We consider cliques, i.e., complete subgraphs, of $Γ$ that are either monochromatic, or of size at most $3$, or a maximal clique in $Γ_c$ for some color set $c$, or whose vertices are the vertices of a face of the $E_8$ root polytope. We prove that, apart from two exceptions, two such cliques are conjugate under the automorphism group of $Γ$ if and only if they are isomorphic as colored graphs. Moreover, for an isomorphism $f$ from one such clique $K$ to another, we give necessary and sufficient conditions for $f$ to extend to an automorphism of $Γ$, in terms of the restrictions of $f$ to certain special subgraphs of $K$ of size at most 7.
Symmetric designs and four dimensional projective special unitary groups
In this article, we study symmetric $(v, k, λ)$ designs admitting a flag-transitive and point-primitive automorphism group $G$ whose socle is $PSU_{4}(q)$. We prove that there exist eight non-isomorphic such designs for which $λ\in\{3,6,18\}$ and $G$ is either $PSU_{4}(2)$, or $PSU_{4}(2):2$.
Spectra of biperiodic planar networks
A biperiodic planar network is a pair $(G,c)$ where $G$ is a graph embedded on the torus and $c$ is a function from the edges of $G$ to non-zero complex numbers. Associated to the discrete Laplacian on a biperiodic planar network is its spectrum: a triple $(C,S,ν)$, where $C$ is a curve and $S$ is a divisor on it. We give a complete classification of networks (modulo a natural equivalence) in terms of their spectral data. The space of networks has a large group of cluster automorphisms arising from the $Y-Δ$ transformations. We show that the spectrum provides action-angle coordinates for the discrete cluster integrable systems defined by these automorphisms.
Telescopic groups and symmetries of combinatorial maps
In the present paper, we show that many combinatorial and topological objects, such as maps, hypermaps, three-dimensional pavings, constellations and branched coverings of the two--sphere admit any given finite automorphism group. This enhances the already known results by Frucht, Cori -- Machì, Širáň -- Škoviera, and other authors. We also provide a more universal technique for showing that ``any finite automorphism group is possible'', that is applicable to wider classes or, in contrast, to more particular sub-classes of said combinatorial and geometric objects. Finally, we show that any given finite automorphism group can be realised by sufficiently many non-isomorphic such entities (super-exponentially many with respect to a certain combinatorial complexity measure).
A note on non-reduced reflection factorizations of Coxeter elements
We extend a result of Lewis and Reiner from finite Coxeter groups to all Coxeter groups by showing that two reflection factorizations of a Coxeter element lie in the same Hurwitz orbit if and only if they share the same multiset of conjugacy classes.
On the Non-Commuting Graph of Dihedral Group
For a nonabelian group G, the non-commuting graph $Γ_G$ of $G$ is defined as the graph with vertex set $G-Z(G)$, where $Z(G)$ is the center of $G$, and two distinct vertices of $Γ_G$ are adjacent if they do not commute in $G$. In this paper, we investigate the detour index, eccentric connectivity and total eccentricity polynomials of non-commuting graph on $D_{2n}$. We also find the mean distance of non-commuting graph on $D_{2n}$.

The PLR-moves of neo-Riemannian theory, when considered as reflections on the edges of an equilateral triangle, define the Coxeter group $\widetilde S_3$. The elements are in a natural one-to-one correspondence with the triangles in the infinite Tonnetz. The left action of $\widetilde S_3$ on the Tonnetz gives rise to interesting chord sequences. We compare the system of transformations in $\widetilde S_3$ with the system of Schritte and Wechsel introduced by Hugo Riemann in 1880. Finally, we consider the point reflection group as it captures well the transition from Riemann's infinite Tonnetz to the finite Tonnetz of neo-Riemannian theory.
