This is the second of two papers introducing and investigating two bivariate zeta functions associated to unipotent group schemes over rings of integers of number fields. In the first part, we proved some of their properties such as rationality and functional equations. Here, we calculate such bivariate zeta functions of three infinite families of nilpotent groups of class 2 generalising the Heisenberg group of three by three unitriangular matrices over rings of integers of number fields. The local factors of these zeta functions are also expressed in terms of sums over finite hyperoctahedral groups, which provides formulae for joint distributions of three statistics on such groups.

An $S$-ring (a Schur ring) is said to be separable with respect to a class of groups $\mathcal{K}$ if every its algebraic isomorphism to an $S$-ring over a group from $\mathcal{K}$ is induced by a combinatorial isomorphism. We prove that every Schur ring over an abelian group $G$ of order $4p$, where $p$ is a prime, is separable with respect to the class of abelian groups. This implies that the Weisfeiler-Leman dimension of the class of Cayley graphs over $G$ is at most 2.

New series of $2^{2m}$-dimensional universally strongly perfect lattices $Λ_I $ and $Γ_J $ are constructed with $$2BW_{2m} ^{\#} \subseteq Γ_J \subseteq BW_{2m} \subseteq Λ_I \subseteq BW _{2m}^{\#} .$$ The lattices are found by restricting the spin representations of the automorphism group of the Barnes-Wall lattice to its subgroup ${\mathcal U}_m:={\mathcal C}_m (4^H_{\bf 1}) $. The group ${\mathcal U}_m$ is the Clifford-Weil group associated to the Hermitian self-dual codes over ${\bf F} _4$ containing ${\bf 1}$, so the ring of polynomial invariants of ${\mathcal U}_m$ is spanned by the genus-$m$ complete weight enumerators of such codes. This allows us to show that all the ${\mathcal U}_m$ invariant lattices are universally strongly perfect. We introduce a new construction, $D^{(cyc)}$ for chains of (extended) cyclic codes to obtain (bounds on) the minimum of the new lattices.

In this paper, we provide a mathematical framework for characterizing AMD codes that are R-optimal. We introduce a new combinatorial object, the reciprocally-weighted external difference family (RWEDF), which corresponds precisely to an R-optimal weak AMD code. This definition subsumes known examples of existing optimal codes, and also encompasses combinatorial objects not covered by previous definitions in the literature. By developing structural group-theoretic characterizations, we exhibit infinite families of new RWEDFs, and new construction methods for known objects such as near-complete EDFs. Examples of RWEDFs in non-abelian groups are also discussed.

We study an impartial game introduced by Anderson and Harary. The game is played by two players who alternately choose previously-unselected elements of a finite group. The first player who builds a generating set from the jointly-selected elements wins. We determine the nim-numbers of this game for finite groups of the form $T \times H$, where $T$ is a $2$-group and $H$ is a group of odd order. This includes all nilpotent and hence abelian groups.

We provide a computer-assisted proof that if G is any finite group of order kp, where k < 48 and p is prime, then every connected Cayley graph on G is hamiltonian (unless kp = 2). As part of the proof, it is verified that every connected Cayley graph of order less than 48 is either hamiltonian connected or hamiltonian laceable (or has valence less than three).

The Murnaghan--Nakayama rule is a combinatorial rule for the character values of symmetric groups. We give a new combinatorial proof by explicitly finding the trace of the representing matrices in the standard basis of Specht modules. This gives an essentially bijective proof of the rule. A key lemma is an extension of a straightening result proved by the second author to skew-tableaux. Our module theoretic methods also give short proofs of Pieri's rule and Young's rule.

Permutations and associated algebras allow the construction of half and quarter BPS operators in maximally supersymmetric Yang Mills theory with $U(N)$, $SO(N)$ and $Sp(N) $ gauge groups. The construction leads to bases for the operators, labelled by Young diagrams and associated group theory data, which have been shown to be orthogonal under the inner product defined by the free field two-point functions. In this paper, we study in detail the orientifold projection map between the Young diagram basis for $U(N)$ theories and the Young diagram basis for $ SO(N)$ (and $ Sp(N)$) half-BPS operators. We find a simple connection between this map and the plethystic refinement of the Littlewood Richardson coefficients which couple triples of Young diagrams where two of them are identical. This plethystic refinement is known to be computable using an algorithm based on domino tilings of Young diagrams. We discuss the domino combinatorics of the orientifold projection map in terms of giant graviton branes. The permutation construction of $SO(N)$ operators is used to find large N generating functions. The structure of these generating functions is elucidated using the combinatorics of words, organised according to their periodicity. Aperiodic words in the $U(N)$ theory are Lyndon words and an $SO(N)$ analogue of Lyndon words is defined using a minimal periodicity condition. We calculate the normalization factor for the orthogonal basis of Young diagram operators in the baryonic sector of $SO(N)$.

A well known class of objects in combinatorial design theory are {group divisible designs}. Here, we introduce the $q$-analogs of group divisible designs. It turns out that there are interesting connections to scattered subspaces, $q$-Steiner systems, design packings and $q^r$-divisible projective sets.
We give necessary conditions for the existence of $q$-analogs of group divsible designs, construct an infinite series of examples, and provide further existence results with the help of a computer search.
One example is a $(6,3,2,2)_2$ group divisible design over $\operatorname{GF}(2)$ which is a design packing consisting of $180$ blocks that such every $2$-dimensional subspace in $\operatorname{GF}(2)^6$ is covered at most twice.

Let $H$ be a multiplicatively written monoid with identity $1_H$ (in particular, a group). We denote by $\mathcal P_{\rm fin,\times}(H)$ the monoid obtained by endowing the collection of all finite subsets of $H$ containing a unit with the operation of setwise multiplication $(X,Y) \mapsto \{xy: x \in X, y \in Y\}$; and study fundamental features of the arithmetic of this and related structures, with a focus on the submonoid, $\mathcal P_{\text{fin},1}(H)$, of $\mathcal P_{\text{fin},\times}(H)$ consisting of all finite subsets $X$ of $H$ with $1_H \in X$.
Among others, we prove that $\mathcal{P}_{\text{fin},1}(H)$ is atomic (i.e., each non-unit is a product of irreducibles) iff $1_H \ne x^2 \ne x$ for every $x \in H \setminus \{1_H\}$. Then we obtain that $\mathcal{P}_{\text{fin},1}(H)$ is BF (i.e., it is atomic and every element has factorizations of bounded length) iff $H$ is torsion-free; and show how to transfer these conclusions to $\mathcal P_{\text{fin},\times}(H)$.
Next, we introduce "minimal factorizations" to account for the fact that monoids may have non-trivial idempotents, in which case standard definitions from Factorization Theory degenerate. Accordingly, we obtain conditions for $\mathcal P_{\text{fin},\times}(H)$ to be BmF (meaning that each non-unit has minimal factorizations of bounded length); and for $\mathcal{P}_{\text{fin},1}(H)$ to be BmF, HmF (i.e., a BmF-monoid where all the minimal factorizations of a given element have the same length), or minimally factorial (i.e., a BmF-monoid where each element has an essentially unique minimal factorization). Finally, we prove how to realize certain intervals as sets of minimal lengths in $\mathcal P_{\text{fin},1}(H)$.
Many proofs come down to considering sumset decompositions in cyclic groups, so giving rise to an intriguing interplay with Arithmetic Combinatorics.
Simplicity of augmentation submodules for transformation monoids

For finite permutation groups, simplicity of the augmentation submodule is equivalent to $2$-transitivity over the field of complex numbers. We note that this is not the case for transformation monoids. We characterize the finite transformation monoids whose augmentation submodules are simple for a field $\mathbb{F}$ (assuming the answer is known for groups, which is the case for $\mathbb C$, $\mathbb R$, and $\mathbb Q$) and provide many interesting and natural examples such as endomorphism monoids of connected simplicial complexes, posets, and graphs (the latter with simplicial mappings).

The goal of this paper is to study the link between the topology of the degenerate flag varieties and combinatorics of the Dellac configurations. We define three new classes of algebraic varieties closely related to the degenerate flag varieties of types A and C. The construction is based on the quiver Grassmannian realization of the degenerate flag varieties and odd symplectic and odd and even orthogonal groups. We study basic properties of our varieties; in particular, we construct cellular decomposition in all the three cases above (as well as in the case of even symplectic group). We also compute the Poincaré polynomials in terms of certain statistics on the set of symmetric Dellac configurations.

This paper gives a Schur-Weyl duality approach to the representation theory of the affine Hecke algebras of type C with unequal parameters. The first step is to realize the affine braid group of type $C_k$ as the group of braids on $k$ strands with two poles. Generalizing familiar methods from the one pole (type A) case, this provides commuting actions of the quantum group $U_q\mathfrak{g}$ and the affine braid group of type $C_k$ on a tensor space $M\otimes N \otimes V^{\otimes k}$. Special cases provide Schur-Weyl pairings between the affine Hecke algebra of type $C_k$ and the quantum group of type $\mathfrak{gl}_n$, resulting in natural labelings of many representations of the affine Hecke algebras of type C by partitions. Following an analysis of the structure of weights of affine Hecke algebra representations (extending the one parameter case to the three parameter case necessary for affine Hecke algebras of type C), we provide an explicit identification of the affine Hecke algebra representations that appear in tensor space (essentially by identifying their Langlands parameters).
A Combinatorial Approach to Rauzy-type Dynamics III: The Sliding Dynamics, Diameter and Algorithm
Rauzy-type dynamics are group actions on a collection of combinatorial objects. The first and best known example (the Rauzy dynamics) concerns an action on permutations, associated to interval exchange transformations (IET) for the Poincaré map on compact orientable translation surfaces. The equivalence classes on the objects induced by the group action have been classified by Kontsevich and Zorich in [KZ03] and correspond bijectively to the connected components of the strata of the moduli space of abelian differentials.
In a paper [Boi14] Boissy proposed a Rauzy-type dynamics that acts on a subset of the permutations (the standard permutations) and conjectured that the Rauzy classes of this dynamics are exactly the Rauzy classes of the Rauzy dynamics restricted to standard permutations. In this paper, we apply the labelling method introduced in [D18] to classify this dynamics thus proving Boissy's conjecture.
Finally, this paper conclude our serie of three papers on the study of the Rauzy dynamics by presenting two new results on the Rauzy classes: An quadratic algorithm for outputting a path between two connected permutations and a tight $Θ(n)$ bound on the diameter of the Rauzy classes for the alternating distance.
Interleaved group products

Let $G$ be the special linear group $\mathrm{SL}(2,q)$. We show that if $(a_1,\ldots,a_t)$ and $(b_1,\ldots,b_t)$ are sampled uniformly from large subsets $A$ and $B$ of $G^t$ then their interleaved product $a_1 b_1 a_2 b_2 \cdots a_t b_t$ is nearly uniform over $G$. This extends a result of the first author, which corresponds to the independent case where $A$ and $B$ are product sets. We obtain a number of other results. For example, we show that if $X$ is a probability distribution on $G^m$ such that any two coordinates are uniform in $G^2$, then a pointwise product of $s$ independent copies of $X$ is nearly uniform in $G^m$, where $s$ depends on $m$ only. Extensions to other groups are also discussed.
We obtain closely related results in communication complexity, which is the setting where some of these questions were first asked by Miles and Viola. For example, suppose party $A_i$ of $k$ parties $A_1,\dots,A_k$ receives on its forehead a $t$-tuple $(a_{i1},\dots,a_{it})$ of elements from $G$. The parties are promised that the interleaved product $a_{11}\dots a_{k1}a_{12}\dots a_{k2}\dots a_{1t}\dots a_{kt}$ is equal either to the identity $e$ or to some other fixed element $g\in G$, and their goal is to determine which of the two the product is equal to. We show that for all fixed $k$ and all sufficiently large $t$ the communication is $Ω(t \log |G|)$, which is tight. Even for $k=2$ the previous best lower bound was $Ω(t)$. As an application, we establish the security of the leakage-resilient circuits studied by Miles and Viola in the "only computation leaks" model.

Given a function defined over a parabolic subgroup of a Coxeter group, equidistributed with the length, we give a procedure to construct a function over the entire group, equidistributed with the length. Such a procedure permits to define functions equidistributed with the length in all the finite Coxeter groups. We can establish our results in the general setting of graded posets which satisfy some properties. These results apply to some known functions arising in Coxeter groups as the major index, the negative major index and the D-negative major index defined in type $A$, $B$ and $D$ respectively.

We extend the notion of face rings of simplicial complexes and simplicial posets to the case of finite-length (possibly infinite) simplicial posets with a group action. The action on the complex induces an action on the face ring, and we prove that the ring of invariants is isomorphic to the face ring of the quotient simplicial poset under a mild condition on the group action. We also identify a class of actions on simplicial complexes that preserve the homotopical Cohen-Macaulay property under quotients. When the acted-upon poset is the independence complex of a semimatroid, the $h$-polynomial of the ring of invariants can be read off the Tutte polynomial of the associated group action. Moreover, in this case an additional condition on the action ensures that the quotient poset is Cohen-Macaulay in characteristic 0 and every characteristic that does not divide an explicitly computable number. This implies the same property for the associated Stanley-Reisner rings. In particular, this holds for independence posets and rings associated to toric, elliptic and, more generally, $(p,q)$-arrangements. As a byproduct, we prove that posets of connected components (also known as posets of {layers}) of such arrangements are Cohen-Macaulay with the same condition on the characteristic.

We define a natural lattice structure on all subsets of a finite root system that extends the weak order on the elements of the corresponding Coxeter group. For crystallographic root systems, we show that the subposet of this lattice induced by antisymmetric closed subsets of roots is again a lattice. We then study further subposets of this lattice which naturally correspond to the elements, the intervals and the faces of the permutahedron and the generalized associahedra of the corresponding Weyl group. These results extend to arbitrary finite crystallographic root systems the recent results of G. Chatel, V. Pilaud and V. Pons on the weak order on posets and its induced subposets.

We show by construction that every rhombic lattice $Γ$ in $\mathbb{R}^{2}$ has a fundamental domain whose symmetry group contains the point group of $Γ$ as a subgroup of index $2$. This solves the last open case of a question raised in [3] on fundamental domains for planar lattices whose symmetry groups properly contain the point groups of the lattices.
