A topological graph is a graph drawn in the plane. A topological graph is $k$-plane, $k>0$, if each edge is crossed at most $k$ times. We study the problem of partitioning the edges of a $k$-plane graph such that each partite set forms a graph with a simpler structure. While this problem has been studied for $k=1$, we focus on optimal $2$-plane and $3$-plane graphs, which are $2$-plane and $3$-plane graphs with maximum density. We prove the following results. (i) It is not possible to partition the edges of a simple optimal $2$-plane graph into a $1$-plane graph and a forest, while (ii) an edge partition formed by a $1$-plane graph and two plane forests always exists and can be computed in linear time. (iii) We describe efficient algorithms to partition the edges of a simple optimal $2$-plane graph into a $1$-plane graph and a plane graph with maximum vertex degree $12$, or with maximum vertex degree $8$ if the optimal $2$-plane graph is such that its crossing-free edges form a graph with no separating triangles. (iv) We exhibit an infinite family of simple optimal $2$-plane graphs such that in any edge partition composed of a $1$-plane graph and a plane graph, the plane graph has maximum vertex degree at least $6$ and the $1$-plane graph has maximum vertex degree at least $12$. (v) We show that every optimal $3$-plane graph whose crossing-free edges form a biconnected graph can be decomposed, in linear time, into a $2$-plane graph and two plane forests.

Peterson and Proctor obtained a formula which expresses the multivariate generating function for $P$-partitions on a $d$-complete poset $P$ as a product in terms of hooks in $P$. In this paper, we give a skew generalization of Peterson--Proctor's hook formula, i.e., a formula for the generating function for $(P \setminus F)$-partitions for a $d$-complete poset $P$ and its order filter $F$, by using the notion of excited diagrams. Our proof uses the Billey-type formula and the Chevalley-type formula in the equivariant $K$-theory of Kac--Moody partial flag varieties. This generalization provides an alternate proof of Peterson--Proctor's hook formula.
The Tutte polynomial via lattice point counting

We recover the Tutte polynomial of a matroid, up to change of coordinates, from an Ehrhart-style polynomial counting lattice points in the Minkowski sum of its base polytope and scalings of simplices. Our polynomial has coefficients of alternating sign with a combinatorial interpretation closely tied to the Dawson partition. Our definition extends in a straightforward way to polymatroids, and in this setting our polynomial has Kálmán's internal and external activity polynomials as its univariate specialisations.
Simultaneous cores with restrictions and a question of Zaleski and Zeilberger
IMPORTANT NOTE: This paper is much rougher than I'd usually submit, and not entirely complete, though the main theorems and proofs should not be hard to follow. Given the ongoing strike at UK Universities it may be some time before I get to complete it to my satisfaction, and in the meantime people I've shared the preliminary draft with would like to be able to reference it. Hence I'm uploading it in its current form, and will update it later.
The main new result of this paper is to count the number of (n,n+1)-core partitions with odd parts, answering a question of Zaleski and Zeilberger with bounty a charitable contribution to the OEIS. Along the way, we prove a general theorem giving a recurrence for (n,n+1)-core parts whose smallest part and consecutive part differences are restricted to lie in an arbitrary set M. This theorem unifies many known results about (n,n+1)-core partitions with restrictions.
We end with discussions of extensions of the general theorem that keep track of the largest part, number of parts, and size of the partition, and about a few cases where the same methods work on more general simultaneous cores.
Partition-crossing hypergraphs
For a finite set $X$, we say that a set $H\subseteq X$ crosses a partition ${\cal P}=(X_1,\dots,X_k)$ of $X$ if $H$ intersects $\min (|H|,k)$ partition classes. If $|H|\geq k$, this means that $H$ meets all classes $X_i$, whilst for $|H|\leq k$ the elements of the crossing set $H$ belong to mutually distinct classes. A set system ${\cal H}$ crosses ${\cal P}$, if so does some $H\in {\cal H}$. The minimum number of $r$-element subsets, such that every $k$-partition of an $n$-element set $X$ is crossed by at least one of them, is denoted by $f(n,k,r)$.
The problem of determining these minimum values for $k=r$ was raised and studied by several authors, first by Sterboul in 1973 [Proc. Colloq. Math. Soc. J. Bolyai, Vol. 10, Keszthely 1973, North-Holland/American Elsevier, 1975, pp. 1387--1404]. The present authors determined asymptotically tight estimates on $f(n,k,k)$ for every fixed $k$ as $n\to \infty$ [Graphs Combin., 25 (2009), 807--816]. Here we consider the more general problem for two parameters $k$ and $r$, and establish lower and upper bounds for $f(n,k,r)$. For various combinations of the three values $n,k,r$ we obtain asymptotically tight estimates, and also point out close connections of the function $f(n,k,r)$ to Turán-type extremal problems on graphs and hypergraphs, or to balanced incomplete block designs.
Cylindric Reverse Plane Partitions and 2D TQFT

The ring of symmetric functions carries the structure of a Hopf algebra. When computing the coproduct of complete symmetric functions $h_λ$ one arrives at weighted sums over reverse plane partitions (RPP) involving binomial coefficients. Employing the action of the extended affine symmetric group at fixed level $n$ we generalise these weighted sums to cylindric RPP and define cylindric complete symmetric functions. The latter are shown to be $h$-positive, that is, their expansions coefficients in the basis of complete symmetric functions are non-negative integers. We state an explicit formula in terms of tensor multiplicities for irreducible representations of the generalised symmetric group. Moreover, we relate the cylindric complete symmetric functions to a 2D topological quantum field theory (TQFT) that is a generalisation of the celebrated $\mathfrak{\widehat{sl}}_n$-Verlinde algebra or Wess-Zumino-Witten fusion ring, which plays a prominent role in the context of vertex operator algebras and algebraic geometry.

Kühn, Osthus, and Townsend asked whether there exists a constant $C$ such that every strongly $Ct$-connected tournament contains all possible $1$-factors with at most $t$ components. We answer this question in the affirmative. This is best possible up to constant. In addition, we can ensure that each cycle in the $1$-factor contains a prescribed vertex.
Indeed, we derive this result from a more general result on partitioning digraphs which are close to semicomplete. More precisely, we prove that there exists a constant $C$ such that for any $k\geq 1$, if a strongly $Ck^4t$-connected digraph $D$ is close to semicomplete, then we can partition $D$ into $t$ strongly $k$-connected subgraphs with prescribed sizes, provided that the prescribed sizes are $Ω(n)$. This result improves the earlier result of Kühn, Osthus, and Townsend. Here, the condition of connectivity being linear in $t$ is best possible, and the condition of prescribed size being $Ω(n)$ is also best possible.

Half-space Macdonald processes

Macdonald processes are measures on sequences of integer partitions built using the Cauchy summation identity for Macdonald symmetric functions. These measures are a useful tool to uncover the integrability of many probabilistic systems, including the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) equation and a number of other models in its universality class. In this paper we develop the structural theory behind half-space variants of these models and the corresponding half-space Macdonald processes. These processes are built using a Littlewood summation identity instead of the Cauchy identity, and their analysis is considerably harder than their full-space counterparts.
We compute moments and Laplace transforms of observables for general half-space Macdonald measures. Introducing new dynamics preserving this class of measures, we relate them to various stochastic processes, in particular the log-gamma polymer in a half-quadrant (they are also related to the stochastic six-vertex model in a half-quadrant and the half-space ASEP). For the polymer model, we provide explicit integral formulas for the Laplace transform of the partition function. Non-rigorous saddle point asymptotics yield convergence of the directed polymer free energy to either the Tracy-Widom GOE, GSE or the Gaussian distribution depending on the average size of weights on the boundary.
Complete intersection P-partition rings
We present an alternate proof of a result of Féray and Reiner characterizing posets whose $P$-partition rings are complete intersections. This shortened proof relates the complete intersection property to a simple structural property of a graph associated to $P$.
Simple proofs and expressions for the restricted partition function and its polynomial part
In this note, we provide a simple derivation of expressions for the restricted partition function and its polynomial part. Our proof relies on elementary algebra on rational functions and a lemma that expresses the polynomial part as an average of the partition function.

We give a Pieri-type formula for the sum of $K$-$k$-Schur functions $\sum_{μ\leλ} g^{(k)}_μ$ over a principal order ideal of the poset of $k$-bounded partitions under the strong Bruhat order, which sum we denote by $\widetilde{g}^{(k)}_λ$. As an application of this, we also give a $k$-rectangle factorization formula $\widetilde{g}^{(k)}_{R_t\cupλ}=\widetilde{g}^{(k)}_{R_t} \widetilde{g}^{(k)}_λ$ where $R_t=(t^{k+1-t})$, analogous to that of $k$-Schur functions $s^{(k)}_{R_t\cupλ}=s^{(k)}_{R_t}s^{(k)}_λ$.
Dual Garside structures and Coxeter sortable elements

In Artin-Tits groups attached to Coxeter groups of spherical type, we give a combinatorial formula to express the simple elements of the dual braid monoids in the classical Artin generators. Every simple dual braid is obtained by lifting an $S$-reduced expression of its image in the Coxeter group, in a way which involves Reading's $c$-sortable elements. It has as an immediate consequence that simple dual braids are Mikado braids (the known proofs of this result either require topological realizations of the Artin groups or categorification techniques), and hence that their images in the Iwahori-Hecke algebras have positivity properties. In the classical types, this requires to give an explicit description of the inverse of Reading's bijection from $c$-sortable elements to noncrossing partitions of a Coxeter element $c$, which might be of independent interest. The bijections are described in terms of the noncrossing partition models in these types. While the proof of the formula is case-by-case, it is entirely combinatorial and we develop an approach which reduces a uniform proof to uniformly proving a lemma about inversion sets of $c$-sortable elements.

Let $s(n)$ be the number of 1-shell totally symmetric plane partitions (TSPPs) of $n$. In this paper, an infinite family of congruences modulo powers of $5$ for $s(n)$ will be deduced through an elementary approach. Namely, $$s\left(2\cdot 5^{2α-1}n+5^{2α-1}\right)\equiv 0 \pmod{5^α}.$$
C-image partition regularity near zero
In \cite{dehind1}, the concept of image partition regularity near zero was first instigated. In contrast to the finite case , infinite image partition regular matrices near zero are very fascinating to analyze. In this regard the abstraction of Centrally image partition regular matrices near zero was introduced in \cite{biswaspaul}. In this paper we propose the notion of matrices that are C-image partition regular near zero for dense subsemigropus of $((0,\infty),+)$.

It is a well-known fact that over the complex numbers and for a fixed $k$ and $n$, a generic $s$ in $Sym^2V^*$ vanishes on some $k$-dimensional subspace of $V$ if and only if $n\geq 2k$. Tevelev found exact conditions for the extension of this statement for general symmetric and skew-symmetric multilinear forms, and we extend his work to all possible symmetric types, which corresponds to Schur modules for a general partition.

Let $p_k(n)$ be given by the $k$-th power of the Euler Product $\prod _{n=1}^{\infty}(1-q^n)^k=\sum_{n=0}^{\infty}p_k(n)q^{n}$. By investigating the properties of the modular equations of the second and the third order under the Atkin $U$-operator, we determine the generating functions of $p_{8k}(2^{2α} n +\frac{k(2^{2α}-1)}{3})$ $(1\leq k\leq 3)$ and $p_{3k} (3^{2β}n+\frac{k(3^{2β}-1)}{8})$ $(1\leq k\leq 8)$ in terms of some linear recurring sequences. Combining with a result of Engstrom about the periodicity of linear recurring sequences modulo $m$, we obtain infinite families of congruences for $p_k(n)$ modulo any $m\geq2$, where $1\leq k\leq 24$ and $3|k$ or $8|k$. Based on these congruences for $p_k(n)$, infinite families of congruences for many partition functions such as the overpartition function, $t$-core partition functions and $\ell$-regular partition functions are easily obtained.
Combinatorial proofs for identities related to generalizations of the mock theta functions $ω(q)$ and $ν(q)$

The two partition functions $p_ω(n)$ and $p_ν(n)$ were introduced by Andrews, Dixit and Yee, which are related to the third order mock theta functions $ω(q)$ and $ν(q)$, respectively. Recently, Andrews and Yee analytically studied two identities that connect the refinements of $p_ω(n)$ and $p_ν(n)$ with the generalized bivariate mock theta functions $ω(z;q)$ and $ν(z;q)$, respectively. However, they stated these identities cried out for bijective proofs. In this paper, we first define the generalized trivariate mock theta functions $ω(y,z;q)$ and $ν(y,z;q)$. Then by utilizing odd Ferrers graph, we obtain certain identities concerning to $ω(y,z;q)$ and $ν(y,z;q)$, which extend some early results of Andrews that are related to $ω(z;q)$ and $ν(z;q)$. In virtue of the combinatorial interpretations that arise from the identities involving $ω(y,z;q)$ and $ν(y,z;q)$, we finally present bijective proofs for the two identities of Andrews-Yee.

Stirling Numbers in Braid Matroid Kazhdan-Lusztig Polynomials

Restricted Whitney numbers of the first kind appear in the combinatorial recursion for the matroid Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials. In the special case of braid matroids (the matroid associated to the partition lattice, the complete graph, the type A Coxeter arrangement and the symmetric group) these restricted Whitney numbers are Stirling numbers of the first kind. We use this observation to obtain a formula for the coefficients of the Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials for braid matroids in terms of sums of products of Stirling numbers of the first kind. This results in new identities between Stirling numbers of the first kind and Stirling numbers of the second kind, as well as a non-recursive formula for the braid matroid Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials.
