The directed landscape from Brownian motion
We define an almost sure bijection which constructs the directed landscape from a sequence of infinitely many independent Brownian motions. This is the analogue of the RSK correspondence in this setting. The Brownian motions arise as a marginal of the extended Busemann process for the directed landscape, and the inverse map gives an explicit and natural coupling where Brownian last passage percolation converges in probability to the directed landscape. We use this map to prove that the directed landscape on a strip can be reconstructed from the Airy line ensemble. Along the way, we describe two more new versions of RSK in the semi-discrete setting, build a general theory of sorting via Pitman operators, and construct extended Busemann processes for the directed landscape and Brownian last passage percolation.

An extended generalization of RSK via the combinatorics of type $A$ quiver representations
The classical Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence is a bijection from nonnegative integer matrices to pairs of semi-standard Young tableaux. Based on the work of, among others, Burge, Hillman, Grassl, Knuth and Gansner, it is known that a version of this correspondence gives, for any nonzero integer partition $λ$, a bijection from arbitrary fillings of $λ$ to reverse plane partitions of shape $λ$, via Greene--Kleitman invariants. By bringing out the combinatorial aspects of our recent results on quiver representations, we construct a family of bijections from fillings of $λ$ to reverse plane partitions of shape $λ$ parametrized by a choice of Coxeter element in a suitable symmetric group. We recover the above version of the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence for a particular choice of Coxeter element depending on $λ$.

Growth diagram proofs for the Littlewood identities
The (dual) Cauchy identity has an easy algebraic proof utilising a commutation relation between the up and (dual) down operators. By using Fomin's growth diagrams, a bijective proof of the commutation relation can be "bijectivised" to obtain RSK like correspondences. In this paper we give a concise overview of this machinery and extend it to Littlewood type identities by introducing a new family of relations between these operators, called projection identities. Thereby we obtain infinite families of bijections for the Littlewood identities generalising the classical ones. We believe that this approach will be useful for finding bijective proofs for Littlewood type identities in other settings such as for Macdonald polynomials and their specialisations, alternating sign matrices or vertex models.

$qt$RSK${}^*$: A probabilistic dual RSK correspondence for Macdonald polynomials
We introduce a probabilistic generalization of the dual Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence, called $qt$RSK${}^*$, depending on two parameters $q$ and $t$. This correspondence extends the $q$RS$t$ correspondence, recently introduced by the authors, and allows the first tableaux-theoretic proof of the dual Cauchy identity for Macdonald polynomials. By specializing $q$ and $t$, one recovers the row and column insertion version of the classical dual RSK correspondence as well as of $q$- and $t$-deformations thereof which are connected to $q$-Whittaker and Hall--Littlewood polynomials. When restricting to Jack polynomials and $\{0,1\}$-matrices corresponding to words, we prove that the insertion tableaux obtained by $qt$RSK${}^*$ are invariant under swapping letters in the input word. Our approach is based on Fomin's growth diagrams and the notion of probabilistic bijections.

Representations from matrix varieties, and filtered RSK
Matrix Schubert varieties (Fulton '92) carry natural actions of Levi groups. Their coordinate rings are thereby Levi-representations; what is a combinatorial counting rule for the multiplicities of their irreducibles? When the Levi group is a torus, (Knutson-Miller '04) answers the question. We present a general solution, a common refinement of the multigraded Hilbert series, the Cauchy identity, and the Littlewood-Richardson rule. Our result applies to any ``bicrystalline'' algebraic variety; we define these using the operators of (Kashiwara '95) and of (Danilov-Koshevoi '05, van Leeuwen '06). The proof introduces a ``filtered'' generalization of the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence.

Growth Diagrams for Schubert RSK
Motivated by classical combinatorial Schubert calculus on the Grassmannian, Huang--Pylyavskyy introduced a generalized theory of Robinson-Schensted-Knuth (RSK) correspondence for studying Schubert calculus on the complete flag variety via insertion algorithms. The inputs of the correspondence are certain biwords, the insertion objects are bumpless pipe dreams, and the recording objects are certain chains in Bruhat order. In particular, they defined plactic biwords and showed that classical Knuth relations can be generalized to plactic biwords. In this paper, we give an analogue of Fomin's growth diagrams for this generalized RSK correspondence on plactic biwords. We show that this growth diagram recovers the bijection between pipe dreams and bumpless pipe dreams of Gao--Huang.

Insertion algorithms for Type $\mathrm{B}$ and $\mathrm{D}$ Gelfand $W$-graphs
Like the RSK correspondence for symmetric groups, Garfinkle defined a domino correspondence for type $\mathrm{B}$ and $\mathrm{D}$ Coxeter groups. Similar to the Knuth relations, Taskin and Pietraho give the plactic relations for the domino correspondence and Bonnafé use them to classify the cells for type $\mathrm{B}$ Coxeter groups. We give some further properties of the plactic relations and use these relations to describe the bidirected edges and the molecules of Gelfand $W$-graphs for type $\mathrm{B}$ and $\mathrm{D}$ Coxeter groups.

Enumerating pattern-avoiding permutations by leading terms
The number of 123-avoiding permutation on $\{1,2,\ldots,n\}$ with a fixed leading terms is counted by the ballot numbers. The same holds for $132$-avoiding permutations. These results were proved by Miner and Pak using the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth (RSK) correspondence to connect permutations with Dyck paths. In this paper, we first provide an alternate proof of these enumeration results via a direct counting argument. We then study the number of pattern-avoiding permutations with a fixed prefix of length $t\geq1$, generalizing the $t=1$ case. We find exact expressions for single and pairs of patterns of length three as well as the pair $3412$ and $3421$. These expressions depend on $t$, the extrema, and the order statistics. We also define $r$-Wilf equivalence for permutations with a single fixed leading term $r$, and classify the $r$-Wilf-equivalence classes for both classical and vincular patterns of length three.

Asymptotics of Some Plancherel Averages via Polynomiality Results
Published in La Matematica 2 (2023), 668-691 • View PublicationBIB
Consider Young diagrams of $n$ boxes distributed according to the Plancherel measure. So those diagrams could be the output of the RSK algorithm, when applied to random permutations of the set $\{1,\ldots,n\}$. Here we are interested in asymptotics, as $n\to \infty$, of expectations of certain functions of random Young diagrams, such as the number of bumping steps of the RSK algorithm that leads to that diagram, the side length of its Durfee square, or the logarithm of its probability. We can express these functions in terms of hook lengths or contents of the boxes of the diagram, which opens the door for application of known polynomiality results for Plancherel averages. We thus obtain representations of expectations as binomial convolutions, that can be further analyzed with the help of Rice's integral or Poisson generating functions. Among our results is a very explicit expression for the constant appearing in the almost equipartition property of the Plancherel measure.

Super Multiset RSK and a Mixed Multiset Partition Algebra
Through dualities on representations on tensor powers and symmetric powers respectively, the partition algebra and multiset partition algebra have been used to study long-standing questions in the representation theory of the symmetric group. In this paper we extend this story to exterior powers, introducing the mixed multiset partition algebra as well as a generalization of the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth algorithm to two-row arrays of multisets with elements from two alphabets. From this algorithm, we obtain enumerative results which reflect representation-theoretic decompositions of this algebra. Furthermore, we use the generalized RSK algorithm to describe the decomposition of a polynomial ring in sets of commuting and anti-commuting variables as a module over both the general linear group and the symmetric group.

Intertwining the Busemann process of the directed polymer model
Published in Electron. J. Probab. 30: 1-80 (2025) • View PublicationBIB
We study the Busemann process and competition interfaces of the planar directed polymer model with i.i.d.\ weights on the vertices of the planar square lattice, in both the general case and the solvable inverse-gamma case. We prove new regularity properties of the Busemann process without reliance on unproved assumptions on the shape function. For example, each nearest-neighbor Busemann function is strictly monotone and has the same random set of discontinuities in the direction variable. When all Busemann functions on a horizontal line are viewed together, the Busemann process intertwines with an evolution that obeys a version of the geometric Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence. When specialized to the inverse-gamma case, this relationship enables an explicit distributional description: the Busemann function on a nearest-neighbor edge has independent increments in the direction variable, and its distribution comes from an inhomogeneous planar Poisson process. The distribution of the asymptotic competition interface direction of the inverse-gamma polymer is discrete and supported on the Busemann discontinuities which -- unlike in zero-temperature last-passage percolation -- are dense. Further implications follow for the eternal solutions and the failure of the one force -- one solution principle of the discrete stochastic heat equation solved by the polymer partition function.

Binomial Cayley Graphs and Applications to Dynamics on Finite Spaces
Published • View PublicationBIB
Binomial Cayley graphs are obtained by considering the binomial coefficient of the weight function of a given Cayley graph and a natural number. We introduce these objects and study two families: one associated with symmetric groups and the other with powers of cyclic groups. We determine various combinatorial properties of these graphs through the spectral analysis of their adjacency matrices. In the case of symmetric groups, we establish a relation between the multiplicity of the null eigenvalue and longest increasing sub-sequences of permutations by means of the RSK correspondence. Finally, we consider dynamical arrangements of finitely many elements in finite spaces, which we refer to as particle-box systems. We apply the results obtained on binomial Cayley graphs in order to describe their degeneracy.

Complete flagged homogeneous polynomials
We introduce a new basis for the polynomial ring which lifts the complete homogeneous symmetric polynomials while retaining representation theoretic significance. Using a specialized RSK algorithm we give an explicit nonnegative expansion into key polynomials and, generalizing the special rim hook tabloids of Eğecioğlu and Remmel, give an explicit signed expansion for key polynomials into this new basis.

Knuth moves for Schubert polynomials
In our previous work we have introduced an analogue of Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence for Schubert calculus of the complete flag varieties. The objects inserted are certain biwords, the outcomes of insertion are bumpless pipe dreams, and the recording objects are decorated chains in Bruhat order. In this paper we study a class of biwords that have a certain associativity property; we call them plactic biwords. We introduce analogues of Knuth moves on plactic biwords, and prove that any two plactic biwords with the same insertion bumpless pipe dream are connected by those moves.

The sum of all width-one matrices
A nonnegative integer matrix is said to be width-one if its nonzero entries lie along a path consisting of steps to the south and to the east. These matrices are important in optimal transport theory: the northwest corner algorithm, for example, takes supply and demand vectors and outputs a width-one matrix. The problem in this paper is to write down an explicit formula for the sum of all width-one matrices (with given dimensions $n \times n$ and given sum $d$ of the entries). We prove two strikingly different formulas. The first, a ${}_4 F_3$ hypergeometric series with unit argument, is obtained by applying the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence to the width-one matrices; the second is obtained via Stanley-Reisner theory. Computationally, our two formulas are complementary to each other: the first formula outperforms the second if $d$ is fixed and $n$ increases, while the second outperforms the first if $n$ is fixed and $d$ increases. We also show how our result yields a new non-recursive formula for the mean value of the discrete earth mover's distance (i.e., the solution to the transportation problem), whenever the cost matrix has the Monge property.

Fluctuations of Schensted row insertion
We investigate asymptotic probabilistic phenomena arising from the application of the Schensted row insertion algorithm, a key component of the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth (RSK) correspondence, to random inputs. Our analysis centers on a random tableau $T$ with a given shape $λ$, which may itself be random or deterministic. We examine the stochastic properties of the position of the new box created when inserting a deterministic entry into $T$. Specifically, we focus on the fluctuations of this position around its expected value as the size of the Young diagram $λ$ approaches infinity. Our findings reveal that these fluctuations are asymptotically Gaussian, with the mean and variance expressed in terms of Kerov's transition measure of the diagram $λ$. An important application of this analysis is the RSK algorithm applied to a finite, long sequence of independent, identically distributed random variables. While there remains a gap in the reasoning for this case, we present an explicit conjecture regarding its behavior.

RSK-Complete Cycle Decompositions
We characterize the class of cycle decompositions that can achieve all Young tableau shapes (except the trivial ones with a single row or a single column) under the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth (RSK) correspondence, a property that we call RSK-completeness. We prove that for even $n$, cyclic permutations comprise the only fixed cycle decomposition that is RSK-complete. For odd $n$, cyclic permutations and almost cyclic permutations which have a cycle of length $n-1$ are the only RSK-complete cycle decompositions.

Bounded Littlewood identity related to alternating sign matrices
Published in Forum of Mathematics, Sigma 12 (2024) e124 • View PublicationBIB
An identity that is reminiscent of the Littlewood identity plays a fundamental role in recent proofs of the facts that alternating sign triangles are equinumerous with totally symmetric self-complementary plane partitions and that alternating sign trapezoids are equinumerous with holey cyclically symmetric lozenge tilings of a hexagon. We establish a bounded version of a generalization of this identity. Further, we provide combinatorial interpretations of both sides of the identity. The ultimate goal would be to construct a combinatorial proof of this identity (possibly via an appropriate variant of the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence) and its unbounded version as this would improve the understanding of the relation between alternating sign trapezoids and plane partition objects.

Rowmotion on 321-avoiding permutations
Published • View PublicationBIB
We give a natural definition of rowmotion for $321$-avoiding permutations, by translating, through bijections involving Dyck paths and the Lalanne--Kreweras involution, the analogous notion for antichains of the positive root poset of type $A$. We prove that some permutation statistics, such as the number of fixed points, are homomesic under rowmotion, meaning that they have a constant average over its orbits. Our setting also provides a more natural description of the celebrated Armstrong--Stump--Thomas equivariant bijection between antichains and non-crossing matchings in types $A$ and $B$, by showing that it is equivalent to the Robinson--Schensted--Knuth correspondence on $321$-avoiding permutations permutations.

Non symmetric Cauchy kernel, crystals and last passage percolation
Published in Tunisian J. Math. 6 (2024) 249-297 • View PublicationBIB
We use non-symmetric Cauchy kernel identities to get the law of last passagepercolation models in terms of Demazure characters. The construction is basedon some restrictions of the RSK correspondence that we rephrase in a unifiedway which is compatible with crystal basis theory.
