Lusztig polytopes and FFLV polytopes
In this paper we prove that in type $\tt A_n$, the Feigin-Fourier-Littelmann-Vinberg (FFLV) polytope coincides with the Minkowski sum of Lusztig polytopes arising from various reduced decompositions. Using this result, we formulate a conjecture about the crystal structures on FFLV polytopes.

Demazure crystals for Kohnert polynomials
Published • View PublicationBIB
Kohnert polynomials are polynomials indexed by unit cell diagrams in the first quadrant defined earlier by the author and Searles that give a common generalization of Schubert polynomials and Demazure characters for the general linear group. Demazure crystals are certain truncations of normal crystals whose characters are Demazure characters. For each diagram satisfying a southwest condition, we construct a Demazure crystal whose character is the Kohnert polynomial for the given diagram, resolving an earlier conjecture of the author and Searles that these polynomials expand nonnegatively into Demazure characters. We give explicit formulas for the expansions with applications including a characterization of those diagrams for which the corresponding Kohnert polynomial is a single Demazure character.

Affine Demazure crystals for specialized nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials
Published in Algebr. Comb. 4 (2021), no 5, 777-793 • View PublicationBIB
We give a crystal-theoretic proof that nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials specialized to $t=0$ are affine Demazure characters. We explicitly construct an affine Demazure crystal on semistandard key tabloids such that removing the affine edges recovers the finite Demazure crystals constructed earlier by the authors. We also realize the filtration on highest weight modules by Demazure modules by defining explicit embedding operators which, at the level of characters, parallels the recursion operators of Knop and Sahi for specialized nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials. Thus we prove combinatorially in type A that every affine Demazure module admits a finite Demazure flag.

Weighted words at degree two, II: flat partitions, regular partitions, and application to level one perfect crystals
Published • View PublicationBIB
In a recent work, Keith and Xiong gave a refinement of Glaisher's theorem by using a Sylvester-style bijection. In this paper, we introduce two families of colored partitions, flat and regular partitions, and generalize the bijection of Keith and Xiong to these partitions. We then state two results, the first at degree one, where partitions have parts with primary colors, and the second result at degree two for secondary-colored partitions, using the result of the first paper of this series. These results allow us to easily retrieve the Frenkel-Kac character formulas of level one standard modules for the type $A_{2n}^{(2)}, D_{n+1}^{(2)}$ and $B_n^{(1)}$, and also to make the connection between the result stated in paper one and the representation theory.

Lusztig data of Kashiwara-Nakashima tableaux in type D
Published in Algebras and Representation Theory, 24, (2021), 959-989 • View PublicationBIB
We describe the embedding from the crystal of Kashiwara-Nakashima tableaux in type $D$ of an arbitrary shape into that of $\mathbf{i}$-Lusztig data associated to a family of reduced expressions $\mathbf{i}$ which are compatible with the maximal Levi subalgebra of type $A$. The embedding is described explicitly in terms of well-known combinatorics of type $A$ including the Schützenberger's jeu de taquin and an analog of RSK algorithm.

Weighted words at degree two, I: Bressoud's algorithm as an energy transfer
Published • View PublicationBIB
In a recent paper, we generalized a partition identity stated by Siladić in his study of the level one standard module of type $A_2^{(2)}$. The proof used weighted words with an arbitrary number of primary colors and all the secondary colors obtained from these primary colors, and a brand new variant of the bijection of Bressoud for Schur's partition identity. In this paper, the first of two, we analyze this variant of Bressoud's algorithm in the framework of statistical mechanics, where an integer partition is viewed as an amount of energy shared, according to certain properties, between several states. This viewpoint allows us to generalize the previous result by considering a more general family of minimal difference conditions. For example, we generalize the Siladić identity to overpartitions. In the second paper, we connect this result to the Glaisher theorem and give some applications to level one perfect crystals.

Locks fit into keys: a crystal analysis of lock polynomials
Published • View PublicationBIB
Lock polynomials and lock Kohnert tableaux are natural analogues to key polynomials and key Kohnert tableaux, respectively. In this paper, we compare lock polynomials to the much-studied key polynomials and show that the difference of a key polynomial and lock polynomial for the same composition is monomial positive. We also examine the conditions for which key and lock polynomials are symmetric or quasisymmetric. We accomplish these goals combinatorially using key Kohnert tableaux and lock Kohnert tableaux. In particular, for the difference of a key minus a lock, we focus on the behavior of crystal operators on Kohnert tableaux. The Type A Demazure crystal can be realized on the vertex set of key Kohnert tableaux, and we show with an explicit combinatorial definition that a similar crystal-like structure exists on the vertex set of lock Kohnert tableaux. Finally, we construct an injective, weight-preserving map from lock Kohnert tableaux to key Kohnert tableaux that intertwines the crystal operators.

Skew Howe duality for crystals and the cactus group
The crystals for a finite-dimensional complex reductive Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ encode the structure of its representations, yet can also reveal surprising new structure of their own. We study the cactus group $C_{\mathfrak{g}}$, constructed using the Dynkin diagram of $\mathfrak{g}$, and its combinatorial action on any $\mathfrak{g}$-crystal via Schützenberger involutions. We compare this action with that of the Berenstein-Kirillov group on Gelfand-Tsetlin patterns. Henriques and Kamnitzer define an action of $C_n=C_{\mathfrak{gl}_n}$ on $n$-tensor products of $\mathfrak{g}$-crystals, for any $\mathfrak{g}$ as above. We discuss the crystal corresponding to the $\mathfrak{gl}_n \times \mathfrak{gl}_m$-representation $Λ^N(\mathbb{C}^n \otimes \mathbb{C}^m),$ derive skew Howe duality on the crystal level and show that the two types of cactus group actions agree in this setting. A future application of this result is discussed in studying two families of maximal commutative subalgebras of the universal enveloping algebra, the shift of argument and Gaudin algebras, where an algebraically constructed monodromy action matches that of the cactus group.

Connectedness of Lakshmibai-Seshadri path crystals for hyperbolic Kac-Moody algebras of rank 2
Published • View PublicationBIB
Let $\mathfrak{g}$ be a hyperbolic Kac-Moody algebra of rank $2$. We give a necessary and sufficient condition for the crystal graph of the Lakshmibai-Seshadri path crystal $\mathbb{B}(λ)$ to be connected for an arbitrary integral weight $λ$.
Erratum to "$B_2$-crystals: Axioms, structure, models" [J. Combin. Theory, Ser. A, 116 (2009), 265--289]

In this erratum we explain how to implement some axioms stated in our paper of 2009 so as to obtain a purely "local" characterization for finite $B_2$-crystals, which was declared but not clarified at some moments there. Also we correct some inaccuracies in that paper.

Generalisations of Capparelli's and Primc's identities, II: perfect $A_{n-1}^{(1)}$ crystals and explicit character formulas
Published • View PublicationBIB
In the first paper of this series, we gave infinite families of coloured partition identities which generalise Primc's and Capparelli's classical identities. In this second paper, we study the representation theoretic consequences of our combinatorial results. First, we show that the difference conditions we defined in our $n^2$-coloured generalisation of Primc's identity, which have a very simple expression, are actually the energy function with values in $\{0,1,2\}$ for the perfect crystal of the tensor product of the vector representation and its dual in $A_{n-1}^{(1)}$. Then we introduce a new type of partitions, grounded partitions, which allows us to retrieve connections between character formulas and partition generating functions without having to perform a specialisation. Finally, using the formulas for the generating functions of our generalised partitions, we recover the Kac-Peterson character formula for the characters of all the irreducible highest weight $A_{n-1}^{(1)}$-modules of level $1$, and give a new character formula as a sum of infinite products with obviously positive coefficients in the generators $e^{- α_i} \ (i \in \{0, \dots , n-1\}),$ where the $α_i$'s are the simple roots.

Generalisations of Capparelli's and Primc's identities, I: coloured Frobenius partitions and combinatorial proofs
Published • View PublicationBIB
In these two companion papers, we give infinite families of partition identities which generalise Primc's and Capparelli's identities, and study their consequences on the theory of crystal bases of the affine Lie algebra $A_{n-1}^{(1)}.$ In this first paper, we focus on combinatorial aspects. We give a $n^2$-coloured generalisation of Primc's identity by constructing a $n^2 \times n^2$ matrix of difference conditions, Primc's original identities corresponding to $n=2$ and $n=3$. While most coloured partition identities in the literature connect partitions with difference conditions to partitions with congruence conditions, in our case, the natural way to generalise these identities is to relate partitions with difference conditions to coloured Frobenius partitions. This gives a very simple expression for the generating function. With a particular specialisation of the colour variables, our generalisation also yields a partition identity with congruence conditions. Then, using a bijection from our new generalisation of Primc's identity, we deduce a multi-parameter family of identities on $(n^2-1)$-coloured partitions which generalise Capparelli's identity, also in terms of coloured Frobenius partitions. The particular case $n=2$ is Capparelli's identity and the case $n=3$ recovers an identity of Meurman and Primc. In the second paper, we will focus on crystal theoretic aspects. We will show that the difference conditions we defined in our $n^2$-coloured generalisation of Primc's identity are actually energy functions for certain $A_{n-1}^{(1)}$ crystals. We will then use this result to retrieve the Kac-Peterson character formula and derive a new character formula as a sum of infinite products for all the irreducible highest weight $A_{n-1}^{(1)}$-modules of level $1$.

On Combinatorial Models for Affine Crystals
We biject two combinatorial models for tensor products of (single-column) Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals of any classical type $A-D$: the quantum alcove model and the tableau model. This allows us to translate calculations in the former model (of the energy function, the combinatorial $R$-matrix, etc.) to the latter, which is simpler.
A crystal on decreasing factorizations in the $0$-Hecke monoid
Published in Electronic J. Comb. 27(2) (2020), #P2.29 • View PublicationBIB
We introduce a type $A$ crystal structure on decreasing factorizations of fully-commutative elements in the 0-Hecke monoid which we call $\star$-crystal. This crystal is a $K$-theoretic generalization of the crystal on decreasing factorizations in the symmetric group of the first and last author. We prove that under the residue map the $\star$-crystal intertwines with the crystal on set-valued tableaux recently introduced by Monical, Pechenik and Scrimshaw. We also define a new insertion from decreasing factorization to pairs of semistandard Young tableaux and prove several properties, such as its relation to the Hecke insertion and the uncrowding algorithm. The new insertion also intertwines with the crystal operators.

Isotopy classes of 3-periodic net embeddings
Published • View PublicationBIB
Entangled embedded periodic nets and crystal frameworks are defined, along with their dimension type, homogeneity type, adjacency depth and periodic isotopy type. We obtain periodic isotopy classifications for various families of embedded nets with small quotient graphs. We enumerate the 25 periodic isotopy classes of depth 1 embedded nets with a single vertex quotient graph. Additionally, we classify embeddings of n-fold copies of pcu with all connected components in a parallel orientation and n vertices in a repeat unit, and determine their maximal symmetry periodic isotopes. We also introduce the methodology of linear graph knots on the flat 3-torus [0, 1)^3. These graph knots, with linear edges, are spatial embeddings of the labelled quotient graphs of an embedded net which are associated with its periodicity bases.

Nakajima quiver varieties, affine crystals and combinatorics of Auslander-Reiten quivers
Published in Algebra Discrete Math. 34 (2022), no. 2, 244-272 • View PublicationBIB
We obtain an explicit crystal isomorphism between two realizations of crystal bases of finite dimensional irreducible representations of simple Lie algebras of type A and D. The first realization we consider is a geometric construction in terms of irreducible components of certain Nakajima quiver varieties established by Saito and the second is a realization in terms of isomorphism classes of quiver representations obtained by Reineke. We give a homological description of the irreducible components of Lusztig's quiver varieties which correspond to the crystal of a finite dimensional representation and describe the promotion operator in type A to obtain a geometric realization of Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals.

Crystal structure on King tableaux and semistandard oscillating tableaux
Published • View PublicationBIB
In 1976, King defined certain tableaux model, called King tableaux in this paper, counting weight multiplicities of irreducible representation of the symplectic group $Sp(2m)$ for a given dominant weight. Since Kashiwara defined crystals, it is an open problem to provide a crystal structure on King tableaux. In this paper, we present crystal structures on King tableaux and semistandard oscillating tableaux. The semistandard oscillating tableaux naturally appear as $Q$-tableaux in the symplectic version of RSK algorithms. As an application, we discuss Littlewood-Richardson coefficients for $Sp(2m)$ in terms of semistandard oscillating tableaux.

Bumping operators and insertion algorithms for queer supercrystals
Published in Sel. Math. New Ser. 28, 36 (2022) • View PublicationBIB
Results of Morse and Schilling show that the set of increasing factorizations of reduced words for a permutation is naturally a crystal for the general linear Lie algebra. Hiroshima has recently constructed two superalgebra analogues of such crystals. Specifically, Hiroshima has shown that the sets of increasing factorizations of involution words and fpf-involution words for a self-inverse permutation are each crystals for the queer Lie superalgebra. In this paper, we prove that these crystals are normal and identify their connected components. To accomplish this, we study two insertion algorithms that may be viewed as shifted analogues of the Edelman-Greene correspondence. We prove that the connected components of Hiroshima's crystals are the subsets of factorizations with the same insertion tableau for these algorithms, and that passing to the recording tableau defines a crystal morphism. This confirms a conjecture of Hiroshima. Our methods involve a detailed investigation of certain analogues of the Little map, through which we extend several results of Hamaker and Young.

Keys and Demazure crystals for Kac-Moody algebras
Published • View PublicationBIB
The Key map is an important tool in the determination of the Demazure crystals associated to Kac-Moody algebras. In finite type A, it can be computed in the tableau realization of crystals by a simple combinatorial procedure due to Lascoux and Sch{ü}tzenberger. We show that this procedure is a part of a more general construction holding in the Kac-Moody case that we illustrate in finite types and affine type A. In affine type A, we introduce higher level generalizations of core partitions which notably give interesting analogues of the Young lattice and are expected to parametrize distinguished elements of certain remarkable blocks for Ariki-Koike algebras.

Alcove paths and Gelfand-Tsetlin patterns
Published • View PublicationBIB
In their study of the equivariant K-theory of the generalized flag varieties $G/P$, where $G$ is a complex semisimple Lie group, and $P$ is a parabolic subgroup of $G$, Lenart and Postnikov introduced a combinatorial tool, called the alcove paths model. It provides a model for the highest weight crystals with dominant integral highest weights, generalizing the model by semistandard Young tableaux. In this paper, we prove a simple and explicit formula describing the crystal isomorphism between the alcove paths model and the Gelfand-Tsetlin patterns model for type $A$.
