In this paper we study certain fundamental and distinguished subsets of weights of an arbitrary highest weight module over a complex semisimple Lie algebra. These sets ${\rm wt}_J \mathbb{V}^λ$ are defined for each highest weight module $\mathbb{V}^λ$ and each subset $J$ of simple roots; we term them "standard parabolic subsets of weights". It is shown that for any highest weight module, the sets of simple roots whose corresponding standard parabolic subsets of weights are equal form intervals in the poset of subsets of the set of simple roots under containment. Moreover, we provide closed-form expressions for the maximum and minimum elements of the aforementioned intervals for all highest weight modules $\mathbb{V}^λ$ over semisimple Lie algebras $\mathfrak{g}$. Surprisingly, these formulas only require the Dynkin diagram of $\mathfrak{g}$ and the integrability data of $\mathbb{V}^λ$. As a consequence, we extend classical work by Satake, Borel-Tits, Vinberg, and Casselman, as well as recent variants by Cellini-Marietti to all highest weight modules.
We further compute the dimension, stabilizer, and vertex set of standard parabolic faces of highest weight modules, and show that they are completely determined by the aforementioned closed-form expressions. We also compute the $f$-polynomial and a minimal half-space representation of the convex hull of the set of weights. These results were recently shown for the adjoint representation of a simple Lie algebra, but analogues remain unknown for any other finite- or infinite-dimensional highest weight module. Our analysis is uniform and type-free, across all semisimple Lie algebras and for arbitrary highest weight modules.

Consider the generalized flag manifold $G/B$ and the corresponding affine flag manifold $\mathcal{Fl}_G$. In this paper we use curve neighborhoods for Schubert varieties in $\mathcal{Fl}_G$ to construct certain affine Gromov-Witten invariants of $\mathcal{Fl}_G$, and to obtain a family of "affine quantum Chevalley" operators $Λ_0, \ldots, Λ_n$ indexed by the simple roots in the affine root system of $G$. These operators act on the cohomology ring $\mathrm{H}^*(\mathcal{Fl}_G)$ with coefficients in $\mathbb{Z}[q_0, \ldots,q_n]$. By analyzing commutativity and invariance properties of these operators we deduce the existence of two quantum cohomology rings, which satisfy properties conjectured earlier by Guest and Otofuji for $G= \mathrm{SL}_n(\mathbb{C})$. The first quantum ring is a deformation of the subalgebra of $\mathrm{H}^*(\mathcal{Fl}_G)$ generated by divisors. The second ring, denoted $\mathrm{QH}^*_{\mathrm{af}}(G/B)$, deforms the ordinary quantum cohomology ring $\mathrm{QH}^*(G/B)$ by adding an affine quantum parameter $q_0$. We prove that $\mathrm{QH}^*_{\mathrm{af}}(G/B)$ is a Frobenius algebra, and that the new quantum product determines a flat Dubrovin connection. Further, we develop an analogue of Givental and Kim formalism for this ring and we deduce a presentation of $\mathrm{QH}^*_{\mathrm{af}}(G/B)$ by generators and relations. The ideal of relations is generated by the integrals of motion for the periodic Toda lattice associated to the dual of the extended Dynkin diagram of $G$.

Given a framed quiver, i.e. one with a frozen vertex associated to each mutable vertex, there is a concept of green mutation, as introduced by Keller. Maximal sequences of such mutations, known as maximal green sequences, are important in representation theory and physics as they have numerous applications, including the computations of spectrums of BPS states, Donaldson-Thomas invariants, tilting of hearts in the derived category, and quantum dilogarithm identities. In this paper, we study such sequences and construct a maximal green sequence for every quiver mutation-equivalent to an orientation of a type A Dynkin diagram.

For a finite subgroup $G$ of the special unitary group $SU_2$, we study the centralizer algebra $Z_k(G) = End_G(V^{\otimes k})$ of $G$ acting on the $k$-fold tensor product of its defining representation $V= \mathbb{C}^2$. These subgroups are in bijection with the simply-laced affine Dynkin diagrams. The McKay correspondence relates the representation theory of these groups to the associated Dynkin diagram, and we use this connection to show that the structure and representation theory of $Z_k(G)$ as a semisimple algebra is controlled by the combinatorics of the corresponding Dynkin diagram.

The Fomin-Kirillov algebra $\mathcal E_n$ is a noncommutative quadratic algebra with a generator for every edge of the complete graph on $n$ vertices. For any graph $G$ on $n$ vertices, we define $\mathcal E_G$ to be the subalgebra of $\mathcal E_n$ generated by the edges of $G$. We show that these algebras have many parallels with Coxeter groups and their nil-Coxeter algebras: for instance, $\mathcal E_G$ is a free $\mathcal E_H$-module for any $H\subseteq G$, and if $\mathcal E_G$ is finite-dimensional, then its Hilbert series has symmetric coefficients. We determine explicit monomial bases and Hilbert series for $\mathcal E_G$ when $G$ is a simply-laced finite Dynkin diagram or a cycle, in particular showing that $\mathcal E_G$ is finite-dimensional in these cases. We also present conjectures for the Hilbert series of $\mathcal E_{\tilde{D}_n}$, $\mathcal E_{\tilde{E}_6}$, and $\mathcal E_{\tilde{E}_7}$, as well as for which graphs $G$ on six vertices $\mathcal E_G$ is finite-dimensional.
The number of complete exceptional sequences for a Dynkin algebra

We consider Dynkin algebras, these are the hereditary artin algebras of finite representation type. The indecomposable modules for a Dynkin algebra correspond bijectively to the positive roots of a Dynkin diagram. Given a Dynkin algebra with n simple modules, a complete exceptional sequence is a sequence M_1,..., M_n of indecomposable modules such that Hom(M_i,M_j) = 0 = Ext(M_i,M_j) for i > j. The aim of this paper is to determine the number of complete exceptional sequences for any Dynkin algebra.
There are direct connections between the representation theory of a Dynkin algebra A and the lattice L of non-crossing partitions of the same Dynkin type: As Ingalls and Thomas have shown, the lattice of the thick subcategories of mod A can be identified with L. Hubery and Krause have pointed out that this identification provides a bijection between the complete exceptional sequences for A and the maximal chains in L. Thus, our calculations may also be considered as a categorification of results concerning non-crossing partitions.

In a recent paper, Barot and Marsh presented an explicit construction of presentation of a finite Weyl group by any seed of corresponding cluster algebra, i.e. by any diagram mutation-equivalent to an orientation of a Dynkin diagram with given Weyl group. Extending their construction to the affine case, we obtain presentations for all affine Coxeter groups. Furthermore, we generalize the construction to the settings of diagrams arising from unpunctured triangulated surfaces and orbifolds, which leads to presentations of corresponding groups as quotients of numerous distinct Coxeter groups.
The root posets and their rich antichains
Let $Δ$ be a (connected) Dynkin diagram of rank $n\ge 2$ and $Φ_+ = Φ_+(Δ)$ the corresponding root poset (it consists of all positive roots with respect to a fixed root basis). The width of $Φ_+$ is $n$. We will show that $Φ_+$ is "conical": it is the disjoint union of $n$ solid chains.
The rich antichains in $Φ_+$ are the antichains of cardinality $n-1$. It is well known that the number of rich antichains is equal to the cardinality of $Φ_+$. The set $\mathcal R(Δ)$ of rich antichains in $Φ_+$ can itself be considered as a poset which is quite similar, but not always isomorphic, to $Φ_+$.
We will show that there always exists a unique rich antichain $A$ such that any rich antichain is contained in the ideal generated by $A$. For $Δ\neq \Bbb E_6$ all roots in $A$ have the same length, namely $e_2$, where $e_1 \le e_2 \le \dots \le e_n$ are the exponents of $Δ.$ For $Δ= \Bbb E_6$, the antichain $A$ consists of four roots of length $e_2 = 4$ and one root of length $5$.

We give a new interpretation of the chromatic polynomial of a simple graph G in terms of the Kac-Moody Lie algebra with Dynkin diagram G. We show that the chromatic polynomial is essentially the q-Kostant partition function of this Lie algebra evaluated on the sum of the simple roots. Applying the Peterson recurrence formula for root multiplicities, we obtain a new realization of the chromatic polynomial as a weighted sum of paths in the bond lattice of G.
Minor theory for surfaces and divides of maximal signature
The paper is partially withdrawn: in its current form, Lemma 2.3 is false, so that our proof of Theorem A and Proposition B has an important gap. We were unable to fix it yet. Any help is most welcome. We prove that the restriction of surface minority to fiber surfaces of divides is a well-quasi-order. Here surface minority is the partial order on isotopy classes of surfaces embedded in the 3-space associated with incompressible subsurfaces. The proof relies on a refinement of the Robertson-Seymour Theorem that involves colored graphs embedded into the plane. Our result implies that every property of fiber surfaces of divides that is preserved by surface minority is characterized by a finite number of prohibited minors. For the signature to be equal to the first Betti number is such a property. We explicitly determine the corresponding prohibited minors. As an application we establish a correspondance between divide links of maximal signature and Dynkin diagrams.

In this paper, we give a characterization of digraphs $Q, |Q|\leq 4$ such that the associated Hecke-Kiselman monoid $H_Q$ is finite. In general, a necessary condition for $H_Q$ to be a finite monoid is that $Q$ is acyclic and its Coxeter components are Dynkin diagram. We show, by constructing examples, that such conditions are not sufficient.

Motivated by the theory of cluster algebras, F. Chapoton, S. Fomin and A. Zelevinsky associated to each finite type root system a simple convex polytope called \emph{generalized associahedron}. They provided an explicit realization of this polytope associated with a bipartite orientation of the corresponding Dynkin diagram.
In the first part of this paper, using the parametrization of cluster variables by their $g$-vectors explicitly computed by S.-W. Yang and A. Zelevinsky, we generalize the original construction to any orientation. In the second part we show that our construction agrees with the one given by C. Hohlweg, C. Lange, and H. Thomas in the setup of Cambrian fans developed by N. Reading and D. Speyer.

We give a new combinatorial model of the Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals of type $A_n^{(1)}$ in terms of non-negative integral matrices based on the classical RSK algorithm, which has a simple description of the affine crystal structure without using a promotion operator. We also have a similar description of the Kirillov-Reshetikhin crystals associated to exceptional nodes in the Dynkin diagrams of classical affine or non-exceptional type.

Let $g$ be a simple Lie algebra and $Ab(g)$ the set of Abelian ideals of a Borel subalgebra of $g$. In this note, an interesting connection between $Ab(g)$ and the subsets of the Dynkin diagram of $g$ is discussed. We notice that the number of abelian ideals with $k$ generators equals the number of subsets of the Dynkin diagram with $k$ connected components. For $g$ of type $A_n$ or $C_n$, we provide a combinatorial explanation of this coincidence by constructing a suitable bijection. We also construct another general bijection between $Ab(g)$ and the subsets of the Dynkin diagram, which is based on the theory developed by Peterson and Kostant.

For an affine algebra of nonexceptional type in the large rank we show the fermionic formula depends only on the attachment of the node 0 of the Dynkin diagram to the rest, and the fermionic formula of not type A can be expressed as a sum of that of type A with Littlewood-Richardson coefficients. Combining this result with math.CO/9901037 and arXiv:1002.3715 we settle the X=M conjecture under the large rank hypothesis.

We define and study the category $\RepQ$ of representations of a quiver in $\VFun$ - the category of vector spaces "over $\Fun$". $\RepQ$ is an $\Fun$-linear category possessing kernels, co-kernels, and direct sums. Moreover, $\RepQ$ satisfies analogues of the Jordan-Hölder and Krull-Schmidt theorems. We are thus able to define the Hall algebra $\HQ$ of $\RepQ$, which behaves in some ways like the specialization at $q=1$ of the Hall algebra of $\on{Rep}(\Q, \mathbf{F}_q)$. We prove the existence of a Hopf algebra homomorphism of $ ρ': \U(\n_+) \rightarrow \HQ$, from the enveloping algebra of the nilpotent part $\n_+$ of the Kac-Moody algebra with Dynkin diagram $\bar{\Q}$ - the underlying unoriented graph of $\Q$. We study $ρ'$ when $\Q$ is the Jordan quiver, a quiver of type $A$, the cyclic quiver, and a tree respectively.

Combining the definition of 0-Hecke monoids with that of Kiselman semigroups, we define what we call Kiselman quotients of 0-Hecke monoids associated with simply laced Dynkin diagrams. We classify these monoids up to isomorphism, determine their idempotents and show that they are $\mathcal{J}$-trivial. For type $A$ we show that Catalan numbers appear as the maximal cardinality of our monoids, in which case the corresponding monoid is isomorphic to the monoid of all order-preserving and order-decreasing total transformations on a finite chain. We construct various representations of these monoids by matrices, total transformations and binary relations. Motivated by these results, with a mixed graph we associate a monoid, which we call a Hecke-Kiselman monoid, and classify such monoids up to isomorphism. Both Kiselman semigroups and Kiselman quotients of 0-Hecke monoids are natural examples of Hecke-Kiselman monoids.
Supersolvable lattices of $J$-classes
The purpose of this article is to investigate the combinatorial properties of the cross section lattice of a $J$-irreducible monoid associated with a semisimple algebraic group of one of the types $A_n$, $B_n$, or $C_n$. Our main tool is a theorem of Putcha and Renner which identifies the cross section lattice in the Boolean lattice of subsets of the nodes of a Dynkin diagram. We determine the join irreducibles of the cross section lattice. Exploiting this we find characterizations of the relatively complemented intervals. By a result of Putcha, this determines the Möbius function for $Λ$. We show that an interval of the cross section lattice is Boolean if and only if it is relatively complemented if and only if it is atomic. We characterize distributive cross section lattices, showing that they are products of chains. We determine which cross section lattices are supersolvable, and furthermore, we compute the characteristic polynomials of these supersolvable cross section lattices. At the end of the article we indicate some future research directions.

Given the toric (or toral) arrangement defined by a root system $Φ$, we describe the poset of its layers (connected components of intersections) and we count its elements. Indeed we show how to reduce to zero-dimensional layers, and in this case we provide an explicit formula involving the maximal subdiagrams of the affine Dynkin diagram of $Φ$. Then we compute the Euler characteristic and the Poincare' polynomial of the complement of the arrangement, which is the set of regular points of the torus.
