Two-dimensional crystal melting and D4-D2-D0 on toric Calabi-Yau singularities

We construct a two-dimensional crystal melting model which reproduces the BPS index of D2-D0 states bound to a non-compact D4-brane on an arbitrary toric Calabi-Yau singularity. The crystalline structure depends on the toric divisor wrapped by the D4-brane. The molten crystals are in one-to-one correspondence with the torus fixed points of the moduli space of the quiver gauge theory on D-branes. The F- and D-term constraints of the gauge theory are regarded as a generalization of the ADHM constraints on instantons. We also show in several examples that our model is consistent with the wall-crossing formula for the BPS index.

This paper shows that the cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebras of type $A$, and the gradings on these algebras, are intimately related to the classical seminormal forms. We start by classifying all seminormal bases and then give an explicit "integral" closed formula for the Gram determinants of the Specht modules in terms of the combinatorics which utilizes the KLR gradings. We then use seminormal forms to give a deformation of the KLR algebras of type $A$. This makes it possible to study the cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebras in terms of the semisimple representation theory and seminormal forms. As an application we construct a new distinguished graded cellular basis of the cyclotomic KLR algebras of type $A$.

We describe a cluster algebra algorithm for calculating q-characters of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules for any untwisted quantum affine algebra. This yields a geometric q-character formula for tensor products of Kirillov-Reshetikhin modules. In simply laced type this formula extends Nakajima's formula for q-characters of standard modules in terms of homology of graded quiver varieties.

This overview paper has two parts. In the first part, we review the development of $\mathbb F_1$-geometry from the first mentioning by Jacques Tits in 1956 until the present day. We explain the main ideas around $\mathbb F_1$, embedded into the historical context, and give an impression of the multiple connections of $\mathbb F_1$-geometry to other areas of mathematics.
In the second part, we review (and preview) the geometry of blueprints. Beyond the basic definitions of blueprints, blue schemes and projective geometry, this includes a theory of Chevalley groups over $\mathbb F_1$ together with their action on buildings over $\mathbb F_1$; computations of the Euler characteristic in terms of $\mathbb F_1$-rational points, which involve quiver Grassmannians; $K$-theory of blue schemes that reproduces the formula $K_i(\mathbb F_1)=π^{st}_i(S^0)$; models of the compactifications of $\Spec \mathbb Z$ and other arithmetic curves; and explanations about the connections to other approaches towards $\mathbb F_1$ like monoidal schemes after Deitmar, $B_1$-algebras after Lescot, $Λ$-schemes after Borger, relative schemes after Toën and Vaquié, log schemes after Kato and congruence schemes after Berkovich and Deitmar.

We study rotation of invariant vectors in tensor products of minuscule representations. We define a combinatorial notion of rotation of minuscule Littelmann paths. Using affine Grassmannians, we show that this rotation action is realized geometrically as rotation of components of the Satake fibre. As a consequence, we have a basis for invariant spaces which is permuted by rotation (up to global sign). Finally, we diagonalize the rotation operator by showing that its eigenspaces are given by intersection homology of quiver varieties. As a consequence, we generalize Rhoades' work on the cyclic sieving phenomenon.

We prove the equivalence of (a slightly modified version of) the wall-crossing formula of Manschot, Pioline and Sen and the wall-crossing formula of Kontsevich and Soibelman. The former involves abelian analogues of the motivic Donaldson-Thomas type invariants of quivers with stability introduced by Kontsevich and Soibelman, for which we derive positivity and geometricity properties.

BPS spectrum with finite number of states are found for higher rank four dimensional N=2 theory engineered from six dimensional A_{N-1} (2,0) theory on a Riemann surface with various kinds of defects. The wall crossing formula is interpreted as the quantum dilogarithm identity. Various methods including quiver representation theory, maximal green mutation, and cluster algebra are used extensively. The spectral generator and its refined version for the higher rank theory are written down using the explicit spectrum information. The finite chamber has an interesting N^3 behavior in the large N limit.

This work connects the idea of a "blow-up" of a quiver with that of injectivity, showing that for a class of monic maps $Φ$, a quiver is $Φ$-injective if and only if all blow-ups of it are as well. This relationship is then used to characterize all quivers that are injective with respect to the natural embedding of $P_{n}$ into $C_{n}$.

Caldero and Zelevinsky studied the geometry of quiver Grassmannians for the Kronecker quiver and computed their Euler characteristics by examining natural stratification of quiver Grassmannians. We consider generalized Kronecker quivers and compute virtual Poincare polynomials of certain varieties which are the images under projections from strata of quiver Grassmannians to ordinary Grassmannians. In contrast to the Kronecker quiver case, these polynomials do not necessarily have positive coefficients. The key ingredient is the explicit formula for noncommutative cluster variables given by Ralf Schiffler and the first author.

We give a geometric realization of a subcategory of the $m$-cluster category $\mathcal{C}^m$ of type $\widetilde{A}_{p,q}$, by using $(m+2)$-angulations of an annulus with $p+q$ marked points. We also give a bijection between an equivalence class of $(m+2)$-angulations and the mutation class of coloured quivers of type $\widetilde{A}_{p,q}$.

We study cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebras $R^{Λ_0}(β)$ in type $A^{(2)}_{2\ell}$, where $Λ_0$ is the fundamental weight. The algebras are natural $A^{(2)}_{2\ell}$-type analogue of Iwahori-Hecke algebras associated with the symmetric group, from the viewpoint of the Fock space theory developed by the first author and his collaborators. We give a formula for the dimension of the algebra, and a simple criterion to tell the representation type. The criterion is a natural generalization of Erdmann and Nakano's for the Iwahori-Hecke algebras. Except for the examples coming from cyclotomic Hecke algebras, no results of these kind existed for cyclotomic quiver Hecke algebras, and our results are the first instances beyond the case of cyclotomic Hecke algebras.
On Jacobian algebras from closed surfaces
We show that the quivers with potentials associated to ideal triangulations of marked surfaces with empty boundary are not rigid, and their completed Jacobian algebras are finite-dimensional and symmetric.
Bipartite Field Theories: from D-Brane Probes to Scattering Amplitudes

We introduce and initiate the investigation of a general class of 4d, N=1 quiver gauge theories whose Lagrangian is defined by a bipartite graph on a Riemann surface, with or without boundaries. We refer to such class of theories as Bipartite Field Theories (BFTs). BFTs underlie a wide spectrum of interesting physical systems, including: D3-branes probing toric Calabi-Yau 3-folds, their mirror configurations of D6-branes, cluster integrable systems in (0+1) dimensions and leading singularities in scattering amplitudes for N=4 SYM. While our discussion is fully general, we focus on models that are relevant for scattering amplitudes. We investigate the BFT perspective on graph modifications, the emergence of Calabi-Yau manifolds (which arise as the master and moduli spaces of BFTs), the translation between square moves in the graph and Seiberg duality and the identification of dual theories by means of the underlying Calabi-Yaus, the phenomenon of loop reduction and the interpretation of the boundary operator for cells in the positive Grassmannian as higgsing in the BFT. We develop a technique based on generalized Kasteleyn matrices that permits an efficient determination of the Calabi-Yau geometries associated to arbitrary graphs. Our techniques allow us to go beyond the planar limit by both increasing the number of boundaries of the graphs and the genus of the underlying Riemann surface. Our investigation suggests a central role for Calabi-Yau manifolds in the context of leading singularities, whose full scope is yet to be uncovered.

We study geometric and combinatorial properties of the degenerate flag varieties of type A. These varieties are acted upon by the automorphism group of a certain representation of a type A quiver, containing a maximal torus T. Using the group action, we describe the moment graphs, encoding the zero- and one-dimensional T-orbits. We also study the smooth and singular loci of the degenerate flag varieties. We show that the Euler characteristic of the smooth locus is equal to the large Schröder number and the Poincaré polynomial is given by a natural statistics counting the number of diagonal steps in a Schröder path. As an application we obtain a new combinatorial description of the large and small Schröder numbers and their q-analogues.

Consider the polynomial ring in countably infinitely many variables over a field of characteristic zero, together with its natural action of the infinite general linear group G. We study the algebraic and homological properties of finitely generated modules over this ring that are equipped with a compatible G-action. We define and prove finiteness properties for analogues of Hilbert series, systems of parameters, depth, local cohomology, Koszul duality, and regularity. We also show that this category is built out of a simpler, more combinatorial, quiver category which we describe explicitly.
Our work is motivated by recent papers in the literature which study finiteness properties of infinite polynomial rings equipped with group actions. (For example, the paper by Church, Ellenberg and Farb on the category of FI-modules, which is equivalent to our category.) Along the way, we see several connections with the character polynomials from the representation theory of the symmetric groups. Several examples are given to illustrate that the invariants we introduce are explicit and computable.
Quivers with potentials associated to triangulated surfaces, part IV: Removing boundary assumptions

We prove that the quivers with potentials associated to triangulations of surfaces with marked points, and possibly empty boundary, are non-degenerate, provided the underlying surface with marked points is not a closed sphere with exactly 5 punctures. This is done by explicitly defining the QPs that correspond to tagged triangulations and proving that whenever two tagged triangulations are related by a flip, their associated QPs are related by the corresponding QP-mutation. As a byproduct, for (arbitrarily punctured) surfaces with non-empty boundary we obtain a proof of the non-degeneracy of the associated QPs which is independent from the one given by the author in the first paper of the series.
The main tool used to prove the aforementioned compatibility between flips and QP-mutations is what we have called \emph{Popping Theorem}, which, roughly speaking, says that an apparent lack of symmetry in the potentials arising from ideal triangulations with self-folded triangles can be fixed by a suitable right-equivalence.
On the Quiver Presentation of the Descent Algebra of the Symmetric Group

We describe a presentation for the descent algebra of the symmetric group $\sym{n}$ as a quiver with relations. This presentation arises from a new construction of the descent algebra as a homomorphic image of an algebra of forests of binary trees which can be identified with a subspace of the free Lie algebra. In this setting, we provide a new short proof of the known fact that the quiver of the descent algebra of $\sym{n}$ is given by restricted partition refinement. Moreover, we describe certain families of relations and conjecture that for fixed $n\in\mathbb{N}$, the finite set of relations from these families that are relevant for the descent algebra of $\sym{n}$ generates the ideal of relations, and hence yields an explicit presentation by generators and relations of the algebra.

Consider Kashiwara's crystal associated to a highest weight representation of a symmetric Kac-Moody algebra. There is a geometric realization of this object using Nakajima's quiver varieties, but in many particular cases it can also be realized by elementary combinatorial methods. Here we propose a framework for extracting combinatorial realizations from the geometric picture: We construct certain torus actions on the quiver varieties and use Morse theory to index the irreducible components by connected components of the subvariety of torus fixed points. We then discuss the case of affine sl(n). There the fixed point components are just points, and are naturally indexed by multi-partitions. There is some choice in our construction, leading to a family of combinatorial models for each highest weight crystal. Applying this construction to the crystal of the fundamental representation recovers a family of combinatorial realizations recently constructed by Fayers. This gives a more conceptual proof of Fayers' result as well as a generalization to higher level. We also discuss a relationship with Nakajima's monomial crystal.

Let Q be a finite quiver without oriented cycles, and let k be an algebraically closed field. The main result in this paper is that there is a natural bijection between the elements in the associated Coxeter group W_Q and the cofinite additive quotient-closed subcategories of the category of finite dimensional right modules over kQ. We prove this correspondence by linking these subcategories to certain ideals in the preprojective algebra associated to Q, which are also indexed by elements of W_Q.
On Maximal Green Sequences
Maximal green sequences are particular sequences of quiver mutations appearing in the context of quantum dilogarithm identities and supersymmetric gauge theory.
Interpreting maximal green sequences as paths in various natural posets arising in representation theory, we prove the finiteness of the number of maximal green sequences for cluster finite quivers, affine quivers and acyclic quivers with at most three vertices. We also give results concerning the possible numbers and lengths of these maximal green sequences.
