The main goal of this paper is to show that the (multi-homogeneous) coordinate ring of a partial flag variety $\mathbb{C} [G / P_K^{-}]$ admits a cluster algebra structure if $G$ is any simply-connected semisimple complex algebraic group. We use derivation properties and a special lifting map to prove that the cluster algebra structure $\mathcal{A}$ of the coordinate ring $\mathbb{C}[N_K]$ of a Schubert cell constructed by Goodearl and Yakimov can be lifted, in an explicit way, to a cluster structure $\hat{\mathcal{A}}$ living in the coordinate ring of the corresponding partial flag variety. Then we use a minimality condition to prove that the cluster algebra $\hat{\mathcal{A}}$ is indeed equal to $\mathbb{C}[G / P_K^{-}]$.

The totally nonnegative flag variety was introduced by Lusztig. It has enriched combinatorial, geometric, and Lie-theoretic structures. In this paper, we introduce a (new) $J$-total positivity on the full flag variety of an arbitrary Kac-Moody group, generalizing the (ordinary) total positivity.
We show that the $J$-totally nonnegative flag variety has a cellular decomposition into totally positive $J$-Richardson varieties. Moreover, each totally positive $J$-Richardson variety admits a favorable decomposition, called a product structure. Combined with the generalized Poincare conjecture, we prove that the closure of each totally positive $J$-Richardson variety is a regular CW complex homeomorphic to a closed ball. Moreover, the $J$-total positivity on the full flag provides a model for the (ordinary) totally nonnegative partial flag variety. As a consequence, we prove that the closure of each (ordinary) totally positive Richardson variety is a regular CW complex homeomorphic to a closed ball, confirming conjectures of Galashin, Karp and Lam.

We characterize the quotients among lattice path matroids (LPMs) in terms of their diagrams. This characterization allows us to show that ordering LPMs by quotients yields a graded poset, whose rank polynomial has the Narayana numbers as coefficients.
Furthermore, we study full lattice path flag matroids and show that -- contrary to arbitrary positroid flag matroids -- they correspond to points in the nonnegative flag variety. At the basis of this result lies an identification of certain intervals of the strong Bruhat order with lattice path flag matroids.
A recent conjecture of Mcalmon, Oh, and Xiang states a characterization of quotients of positroids. We use our results to prove this conjecture in the case of LPMs.

We conduct a systematic study of the Ehrhart theory of certain slices of rectangular prisms. Our polytopes are generalizations of the hypersimplex and are contained in the larger class of polypositroids introduced by Lam and Postnikov; moreover, they coincide with polymatroids satisfying the strong exchange property up to an affinity. We give a combinatorial formula for all the Ehrhart coefficients in terms of the number of weighted permutations satisfying certain compatibility properties. This result proves that all these polytopes are Ehrhart positive. Additionally, via an extension of a result by Early and Kim, we give a combinatorial interpretation for all the coefficients of the $h^*$-polynomial. All of our results provide a combinatorial understanding of the Hilbert functions and the $h$-vectors of all algebras of Veronese type, a problem that had remained elusive up to this point. A variety of applications are discussed, including expressions for the volumes of these slices of prisms as weighted combinations of Eulerian numbers; some extensions of Laplace's result on the combinatorial interpretation of the volume of the hypersimplex; a multivariate generalization of the flag Eulerian numbers and refinements; and a short proof of the Ehrhart positivity of the independence polytope of all uniform matroids.

Chow rings of flag varieties have bases of Schubert cycles $σ_u$, indexed by permutations. A major problem of algebraic combinatorics is to give a positive combinatorial formula for the structure constants of this basis. The celebrated Littlewood-Richardson rules solve this problem for special products $σ_u \cdot σ_v$ where $u$ and $v$ are $p$-Grassmannian permutations.
Building on work of Wyser, we introduce backstable clans to prove such a rule for the problem of computing the product $σ_u \cdot σ_v$ when $u$ is $p$-inverse Grassmannian and $v$ is $q$-inverse Grassmannian. By establishing several new families of linear relations among structure constants, we further extend this result to obtain a positive combinatorial rule for $σ_u \cdot σ_v$ in the case that $u$ is covered in weak Bruhat order by a $p$-inverse Grassmannian permutation and $v$ is a $q$-inverse Grassmannian permutation.
Simplicial $q$-connectivity of directed graphs with applications to network analysis
Directed graphs are ubiquitous models for networks, and topological spaces they generate, such as the directed flag complex, have become useful objects in applied topology. The simplices are formed from directed cliques. We extend Atkin's theory of $q$-connectivity to the case of directed simplices. This results in a preorder where simplices are related by sequences of simplices that share a $q$-face with respect to directions specified by chosen face maps. We leverage the Alexandroff equivalence between preorders and topological spaces to introduce a new class of topological spaces for directed graphs, enabling to assign new homotopy types different from those of directed flag complexes as seen by simplicial homology. We further introduce simplicial path analysis enabled by the connectivity preorders. As an application we characterise structural differences between various brain networks by computing their longest simplicial paths.
Voltage operations on maniplexes

Classical geometric and topological operations on polyhedra, maps and polytopes often give rise to structures with the same symmetry group as the original one, but with more flags. In this paper we introduce the notion of voltage operations on maniplexes, as a way to generalize such operations. Our technique provides a way to study classical operations in a graph theory setting. In fact, voltage operations can be applied to symmetry type graphs, and more generally to n-valent properly n-edge colored graphs. We focus on studying the interactions between voltage operations and the symmetries of the operated object, and show that they can be potentially used to build maniplexes with prescribed symmetry type graphs. Moreover, a complete characterization of when an operation can be seen as a voltage operation is given.

Schubert polynomials $\mathfrak{S}_w$ are polynomial representatives for cohomology classes of Schubert varieties in a complete flag variety, while Grothendieck polynomials $\mathfrak{G}_w$ are analogous representatives for the $K$-theory classes of the structure sheaves of Schubert varieties. In the special case that $\mathfrak{S}_w$ is a multiplicity-free sum of monomials, K. Mészáros, L. Setiabrata, and A. St. Dizier conjectured that $\mathfrak{G}_w$ can be easily computed from $\mathfrak{S}_w$ via Möbius inversion on a certain poset. We prove this conjecture.

We consider generalizations of the Springer resolution of the nilpotent cone of a simple Lie algebra by replacing the cotangent bundle with certain other vector bundles over the flag variety. We show that the analogue of the Springer sheaf has as direct summands only intersection cohomology sheaves that arise in the Springer correspondence. The fibers of these general maps are nilpotent Hessenberg varieties, and we build on techniques established by De Concini, Lusztig, and Procesi to study their geometry. For example, we show that these fibers have vanishing cohomology in odd degrees. This leads to several implications for the dual picture, where we consider maps that generalize the Grothendieck-Springer resolution of the whole Lie algebra. In particular we are able to prove a conjecture of Brosnan.
As we vary the maps, the cohomology of the corresponding nilpotent Hessenberg varieties often satisfy a relation we call the geometric modular law, which also has origins in the work on De Concini, Lusztig, and Procesi. We connect this relation in type $A$ with a combinatorial modular law defined by Guay-Paquet that is satisfied by certain symmetric functions and deduce some consequences of that connection.
On the support of Grothendieck polynomials
Grothendieck polynomials $\mathfrak{G}_w$ of permutations $w\in S_n$ were introduced by Lascoux and Schützenberger in 1982 as a set of distinguished representatives for the K-theoretic classes of Schubert cycles in the K-theory of the flag variety of $\mathbb{C}^n$. We conjecture that the exponents of nonzero terms of the Grothendieck polynomial $\mathfrak{G}_w$ form a poset under componentwise comparison that is isomorphic to an induced subposet of $\mathbb{Z}^n$. When $w\in S_n$ avoids a certain set of patterns, we conjecturally connect the coefficients of $\mathfrak{G}_w$ with the Möbius function values of the aforementioned poset with $\hat{0}$ appended. We prove special cases of our conjectures for Grassmannian and fireworks permutations.
Generic 1-connectivity of flag domains in Hermitian symmetric spaces

A flag domain is an open real group orbit in a complex flag manifold. It has been shown that a flag domain is either pseudoconvex or pseudoconcave. Moreover, generically 1-connected flag domains are pseudoconcave. In this study, for flag domains contained in irreducible Hermitian symmetric spaces of type AIII or CI, we determine which pseudoconcave flag domain is generically 1-connected.

We present a review on the recently discovered link between the Lie theory, the theory of quiver Grassmannians, and various degenerations of flag varieties. Our starting point is the induced Poincaré--Birkhoff--Witt filtration on the highest weight representations and the corresponding PBW degenerate flag varieties.
Torus fixed point sets of Hessenberg Schubert varieties in regular semisimple Hessenberg varieties
It is well-known that the $T$-fixed points of a Schubert variety in the flag variety $GL_n(\mathbb{C})/B$ can be characterized purely combinatorially in terms of Bruhat order on the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_n$. In a recent preprint, Cho, Hong, and Lee give a combinatorial description of the $T$-fixed points of Hessenberg analogues of Schubert varieties (which we call Hessenberg Schubert varieties) in a regular semisimple Hessenberg variety. This note gives an interpretation of their result in terms of Bruhat order by making use of a partition of the symmetric group defined using so-called subsets of Weyl type. The Appendix, written by Michael Zeng, proves a lemma concerning subsets of Weyl type which is required in our arguments.
The codegree threshold of $K_4^-$

The codegree threshold $\mathrm{ex}_2(n, F)$ of a $3$-graph $F$ is the minimum $d=d(n)$ such that every $3$-graph on $n$ vertices in which every pair of vertices is contained in at least $d+1$ edges contains a copy of $F$ as a subgraph. We study $\mathrm{ex}_2(n, F)$ when $F=K_4^-$, the $3$-graph on $4$ vertices with $3$ edges. Using flag algebra techniques, we prove that if $n$ is sufficiently large then $\mathrm{ex}_2(n, K_4^-)\leq (n+1)/4$.
This settles in the affirmative a conjecture of Nagle from 1999. In addition, we obtain a stability result: for every near-extremal configuration $G$, there is a quasirandom tournament $T$ on the same vertex set such that $G$ is close in the edit distance to the $3$-graph $C(T)$ whose edges are the cyclically oriented triangles from $T$. For infinitely many values of $n$, we are further able to determine $\mathrm{ex}_2(n, K_4^-)$ exactly and to show that tournament-based constructions $C(T)$ are extremal for those values of $n$.
Chromatic Quasisymmetric Class Functions for combinatorial Hopf monoids

We study the chromatic quasisymmetric class function of a linearized combinatorial Hopf monoid. Given a linearized combinatorial Hopf monoid $H$, and an $H$-structure $h$ on a set $N$, there are proper colorings of $h$, generalizing graph colorings and poset partitions. We show that the automorphism group of $h$ acts on the set of proper colorings. The chromatic quasisymmetric class function enumerates the fixed points of this action, weighting each coloring with a monomial. For the Hopf monoid of graphs this invariant generalizes Stanley's chromatic symmetric function and specializes to the orbital chromatic polynomial of Cameron and Kayibi.
We also introduce the flag quasisymmetric class function of a balanced relative simplicial complex equipped with a group action. We show that, under certain conditions, the chromatic quasisymmetric class function of $h$ is the flag quasisymmetric class function of a balanced relative simplicial complex that we call the coloring complex of $h$. We use this result to deduce various inequalities for the associated orbital polynomial invariants. We apply these results to several examples related to enumerating graph colorings, poset partitions, generic functions on matroids or generalized permutohedra, and others.
The multiplicity of a singularity in a vexillary Schubert variety

In a classical-type flag variety, we consider a Schubert variety associated to a vexillary (signed) permutation, and establish a combinatorial formula for the Hilbert-Samuel multiplicity of a point on such a Schubert variety. The formula is expressed in terms of excited Young diagrams, and extends results for Grassmannians due to Krattenthaler, Lakshmibai-Raghavan-Sankaran, and for the maximal isotropic (symplectic and orthogonal) Grassmannians to Ghorpade-Raghavan, Raghavan-Upadhyay, Kreiman, and Ikeda-Naruse. We also provide a new proof of a theorem of Li-Yong in the type A vexillary case. The main ingredient is an isomorphism between certain neighborhoods of fixed points, known as Kazhdan-Lusztig varieties, which, in turn, relies on a direct sum embedding previously used by Anderson-Fulton to relate vexillary loci to Grassmannian loci.
Relative poset polytopes and semitoric degenerations

The two best studied toric degenerations of the flag variety are those given by the Gelfand--Tsetlin and FFLV polytopes. Each of them degenerates further into a particular monomial variety which raises the problem of describing the degenerations intermediate between the toric and the monomial ones. Using a theorem of Zhu one may show that every such degeneration is semitoric with irreducible components given by a regular subdivision of the corresponding polytope. This leads one to study the parts that appear in such subdivisions as well as the associated toric varieties. It turns out that these parts lie in a certain new family of poset polytopes which we term relative poset polytopes: each is given by a poset and a weakening of its order relation. In this paper we give an in depth study of (both common and marked) relative poset polytopes and their toric varieties in the generality of an arbitrary poset. We then apply these results to degenerations of flag varieties. We also show that our family of polytopes generalizes the family studied in a series of papers by Fang, Fourier, Litza and Pegel while sharing their key combinatorial properties such as pairwise Ehrhart-equivalence and Minkowski-additivity.

The irreducible representations of symmetric groups can be realized as certain graded pieces of invariant rings, equivalently as global sections of line bundles on partial flag varieties. There are various ways to choose useful bases of such Specht modules $S^λ$. Particularly powerful are web bases, which make important connections with cluster algebras and quantum link invariants. Unfortunately, web bases are only known in very special cases -- essentially, only the cases $λ=(d,d)$ and $λ=(d,d,d)$. Building on work of B. Rhoades (2017), we construct an apparent web basis of invariant polynomials for the $2$-parameter family of Specht modules with $λ$ of the form $(d,d,1^\ell)$. The planar diagrams that appear are noncrossing set partitions, and we thereby obtain geometric interpretations of earlier enumerative results in combinatorial dynamics.

Well-Ordered Flag Spaces as Functors of Points
Using Grothendieck's "functor of points" approach to algebraic geometry, we define a new infinite-dimensional algebro-geometric flag space as a $k$-functor (for $k$ a ring) which maps a $k$-algebra $R$ to the set of certain well-ordered chains of submodules of an infinite rank free $R$-module. This generalizes the well known construction of a $k$-functor that is represented by the classical (i.e. finite-dimensional) full flag scheme. We prove that as in the finite-dimensional case, there is an action of a general linear group on our flag space, that the stabilizer of the standard flag is the subgroup $B$ of upper triangular matrices, and that the Bruhat decomposition holds, meaning that our space is covered by the disjoint Schubert cells $\text{sh}(B σB) / B$ indexed by permutations $σ$ of an infinite set. Finally, in the case of flags indexed by the ordinal $ω+ 1$, we define an analog of the Bruhat order on this infinite permutation group and prove that when $k$ is a domain, Ehresmann's closure relations still hold, i.e. that the closure $\overline{\text{sh}(B σB) / B}$ is covered by the Schubert cells indexed by permutations smaller than $σ$ in the infinite Bruhat order.
