A "network of networks" (from history to algebra)
Recall first the algebraic treatment of flows or tensions in a transportation network $N$, i.e. a connected antisymmetric 1-graph $G(X, U)$. Assume that, unusually, we take the values of flows (resp. tensions) in $\mathbb{C}$. So the algebraic lattices $Γ$ of flow (resp. tension) values associated to $G(X, U)$ are lattices of $\mathbb{C}$. These lattices are congruent modulo the action of the special linear group SL($2, \mathbb{C}$). Then, it is well known one can define a lattice function $G_{k}(Γ)$, as a modular function of weight $2k$, on the set $\mathcal{R}$ of all lattices of $\mathbb{C}$. Let now $N_{1}, N_{2}, ..., N_{p}$ be connected antisymmetric 1-graphs and $C_{n}$, the set of hermitian symmetric matrices $n \times n$. Let also $\mathcal{R'} $ be the set of all the lattices of $C_{n}$. The previous structure can be transposed to any $ n \times n $ symmetric hermitian matrices of flow (or tension) values of the $G_{i}$. In this case, the Siegel space $S_{n}= C_{n}$ replaces the Poincaré half-plane, and the symplectic group Sp$(2n, \mathbb{R})$ takes the place of the special linear group SL($2, \mathbb{C}$). We get now the new lattice function as a function of all the lattices of $S_{n}$, i.e. a model of the "network of networks" $\mathcal{R'}$. In the end, we study the tree of minimal length of $\mathcal{R'}$.
Counting (skew-)reciprocal Littlewood polynomials with square discriminant
A Littlewood polynomial is a single-variable polynomial all of whose coefficients lie in $\{ \pm 1\}$. We establish the leading term asymptotics of the number of reciprocal or skew-reciprocal Littlewood polynomials with square discriminant. This relates to a bounded-height analogue of the Van der Waerden conjecture on Galois groups of random polynomials. As a byproduct, we establish the asymptotics of certain Gaussian-weighted counts of Pythagorean triples.
On The Determination of Sets By Their Subset Sums
Let $A$ be a multiset with elements in an abelian group. Let $FS(A)$ be the multiset containing the $2^{|A|}$ sums of all subsets of $A$.
We study the reconstruction problem ``Given $FS(A)$, is it possible to identify $A$?'', and we give a satisfactory answer for all abelian groups. We prove that, up to identifying multisets through a natural equivalence relation, the function $A \mapsto FS(A)$ is injective (and thus the reconstruction problem is solvable) if and only if every order $n$ of a torsion element of the abelian group satisfies a certain number-theoretical property linked to the multiplicative group $(\mathbb{Z} / n\mathbb{Z})^*$.
The core of the proof relies on a delicate study of the structure of cyclotomic units. Moreover, as a tool, we develop an inversion formula for a novel discrete Radon transform on finite abelian groups that might be of independent interest.
Representation Stability for Disks in a Strip
We consider the ordered configuration space of $n$ open unit-diameter disks in the infinite strip of width $w$. In the spirit of Arnol'd and Cohen, we provide a finite presentation for the rational homology groups of this ordered configuration space as a twisted algebra. We use this presentation to prove that the ordered configuration space of open unit-diameter disks in the infinite strip of width $w$ exhibits a notion of first-order representation stability similar to Church--Ellenberg--Farb and Miller--Wilson's first-order representation stability for the ordered configuration space of points in a manifold. In addition, we prove that for large $w$ this disk configuration space exhibits notions of second- (and higher) order representation stability.
Hochschild cohomology of symmetric groups and generating functions,II
We relate the generating functions of the dimensions of the Hochschild cohomology in any fixed degree of the symmetric groups with those of blocks of the symmetric groups. We show that the first Hochschild cohomology of a positive defect block of a symmetric group is non-zero, answering in the affirmative a question of the third author. To do this, we prove a formula expressing the dimension of degree one Hochschild cohomology as a sum of dimensions of centres of blocks of smaller symmetric groups. This in turn is a consequence of a general formula that makes more precise a theorem of our previous paper describing the generating functions for the dimensions of Hochschild cohomology of symmetric groups.
A generalization of cyclic shift classes
Motivated by Lusztig's $G$-stable pieces, we consider the combinatorial pieces: the pairs $(w, K)$ for elements $w$ in the Weyl group and subsets $K$ of simple reflections that are normalized by $w$. We generalize the notion of cyclic shift classes on the Weyl groups to the set of combinatorial pieces. We show that the partial cyclic shift classes of combinatorial pieces associated with minimal-length elements have nice representatives. As applications, we prove the left-right symmetry and the compatibility of the induction functors of the parabolic character sheaves.
Comet-shaped quiver varieties, Weyl group actions, and modified Kostka polynomials
We study an algebra spanned by modified Kostka polynomials. Particular structure coefficients of this algebra are interpreted as traces of some Weyl group actions on the intersection cohomology of comet-shaped quiver varieties.
On abelian-by-cyclic Moufang loops
We study abelian-by-cyclic Moufang loops. We construct all split $3$-divisible abelian-by-cyclic Moufang loops from so-called Moufang permutations on abelian groups $(X,+)$, which are permutations that deviate from an automorphism of $(X,+)$ by an alternating biadditive mapping (satisfying certain properties). More generally, we obtain additional abelian-by-cyclic Moufang loops from so-called construction pairs. As an aside, we show that in the Moufang loops $Q$ obtained from a construction pair on $(X,+)$ the abelian normal subgroup $(X,+)$ induces an abelian congruence of $Q$ if and only if $Q$ is a group.
The Critical Groups of Adinkras up to 2-Rank of Cayley Graphs
Adinkras are graphical gadgets introduced by physicists to study supersymmetry, which can be thought of as the Cayley graphs for supersymmetry algebras. Improving the result of Iga et al., we determine the critical group of an Adinkra given the 2-rank of the Laplacian of the underlying Cayley graph. As a corollary, we show that the critical group is independent of the signature of the Adinkra. The proof uses the monodromy pairing on these critical groups.

Given a finite group $G$ and a prime $p$, let $\mathcal{A}_p(G)$ be the poset of nontrivial elementary abelian $p$-subgroups of $G$. The group $G$ satisfies the Quillen dimension property at $p$ if $\mathcal{A}_p(G)$ has non-zero homology in the maximal possible degree, which is the $p$-rank of $G$ minus $1$. For example, D. Quillen showed that solvable groups with trivial $p$-core satisfy this property, and later, M. Aschbacher and S.D. Smith provided a list of all $p$-extensions of simple groups that may fail this property if $p$ is odd. In particular, a group $G$ with this property satisfies Quillen's conjecture: $G$ has trivial $p$-core and the poset $\mathcal{A}_(G)$ is not contractible.
In this article, we focus on the prime $p = 2$ and prove that the $2$-extensions of the exceptional finite simple groups of Lie type in odd characteristic satisfy the Quillen dimension property, with only finitely many exceptions. We achieve these conclusions by studying maximal subgroups and usually reducing the problem to the same question in small linear groups, where we establish this property via counting arguments. As a corollary, we reduce the list of possible components in a minimal counterexample to Quillen's conjecture at $p = 2$.
Pinnacle sets of signed permutations
Pinnacle sets record the values of the local maxima for a given family of permutations. They were introduced by Davis-Nelson-Petersen-Tenner as a dual concept to that of peaks, previously defined by Billey-Burdzy-Sagan. In recent years pinnacles and admissible pinnacles sets for the type $A$ symmetric group have been widely studied. In this article we define the pinnacle set of signed permutations of types $B$ and $D$. We give a closed formula for the number of type $B$/$D$ admissible pinnacle sets and answer several other related enumerative questions.
C Sequential Optimization Numbers Group
We define C sequential optimization numbers, where C is a k+1-tuple vector. We prove that the unsigned Stirling numbers of first kind are (0,1) sequential optimization numbers. Many achievements of the Stirling numbers of first kind can be transformed into the properties of C sequential optimization numbers. We give some examples such as the recurrence formula and an instance of C sequential optimization numbers. We also extend some properties such as an upper bounder of them.

An arithmetical structure on a finite, connected graph without loops is an assignment of positive integers to the vertices that satisfies certain conditions. Associated to each of these is a finite abelian group known as its critical group. We show how to determine the critical group of an arithmetical structure on a star graph or complete graph in terms of the entries of the arithmetical structure. We use this to investigate which finite abelian groups can occur as critical groups of arithmetical structures on these graphs.

Proving a conjecture of Miller, we show that as $n$ tends to infinity almost all entries in the character table of $S_n$ are divisible by any given prime power. This extends our earlier work which treated divisibility by primes.
Association schemes on triples from affine special semilinear groups
Association schemes on triples (ASTs) are 3-dimensional analogues of classical association schemes. If a group acts two-transitively on a set, the orbits of the action induced on the triple Cartesian product of that set yields an AST. By considering the actions of semidirect products of the affine special linear group ASL(k,n) with subgroups of the Galois group Gal(GF(n)), we obtain the sizes, third valencies, and intersection numbers of the ASTs obtained from subgroups of the affine special semilinear group.
Measuring the Space of Metaplectic Whittaker Functions
Whittaker functions are special functions that arise in $p$-adic number theory and representation theory. They may be defined on representations of reductive groups as well as their metaplectic covering groups: fascinatingly, many of their number theoretic applications survive the transition between the reductive and metaplectic cases. However, one notable difference is that the space of Whittaker functions on a reductive group over a nonarchimedean local field $F$ is one-dimensional, whereas this is no longer true in the metaplectic case. In a previous paper, the second author showed that the dimension of the space of Whittaker functions on an arbitrary $n$-fold metaplectic cover of $GL_r(F)$ can be counted in terms of the number of solutions to a particular system of linear Diophantine equations in terms of $n$ and $r$. In this paper, we calculate two precise formulae for $\dim(\mathfrak{W})$, one inspired by viewing this system as a homogenous specialization of an inhomogenous system and the other by the structure of the coroot lattice of $GL_r(F)$. Then we use these formulae to investigate a homomorphism between $\mathfrak{W}$ and a particular quantum group module, built by the second author in a previous paper, and show precisely when this map is well-defined for any choice of basis for $\mathfrak{W}$.
Fans and polytopes in tilting theory II: $g$-fans of rank 2
The $g$-fan of a finite dimensional algebra is a fan in its real Grothendieck group defined by tilting theory. We give a classification of complete $g$-fans of rank 2. More explicitly, our first main result asserts that every complete sign-coherent fan of rank 2 is a $g$-fan of some finite dimensional algebra. Our proof is based on three fundamental results, Gluing Theorem, Rotation Theorem and Subdivision Theorem, which realize basic operations on fans in the level of finite dimensional algebras. For each of 16 convex sign-coherent fans $Σ$ of rank 2, our second main result gives a characterization of algebras $A$ of rank 2 satisfying $Σ(A)=Σ$. As a by-product of our method, we prove that for each positive integer $N$, there exists a finite dimensional algebra $A$ of rank 2 such that the Hasse quiver of the poset of 2-term silting complexes of $A$ has precisely $N$ connected components.
Sums of triples in Abelian groups
Motivated by a problem in additive Ramsey theory, we extend Todorcevic's partitions of three-dimensional combinatorial cubes to handle additional three-dimensional objects. As a corollary, we get that if the continuum hypothesis fails, then for every Abelian group $G$ of size $\aleph_2$, there exists a coloring $c:G\rightarrow\mathbb Z$ such that for every uncountable $X\subseteq G$ and every integer $k$, there are three distinct elements $x,y,z$ of $X$ such that $c(x+y+z)=k$.
A lift of West's stack-sorting map to partition diagrams

We introduce a lifting of West's stack-sorting map $s$ to partition diagrams, which are combinatorial objects indexing bases of partition algebras. Our lifting $\mathscr{S}$ of $s$ is such that $\mathscr{S}$ behaves in the same way as $s$ when restricted to diagram basis elements in the order-$n$ symmetric group algebra as a diagram subalgebra of the partition algebra $\mathscr{P}_{n}^ξ$. We then introduce a lifting of the notion of $1$-stack-sortability, using our lifting of $s$. By direct analogy with Knuth's famous result that a permutation is $1$-stack-sortable if and only if it avoids the pattern $231$, we prove a related pattern-avoidance property for partition diagrams, as opposed to permutations, according to what we refer to as stretch-stack-sortability.
Permutation Statistics in Conjugacy Classes of the Symmetric Group
We introduce the notion of a weighted inversion statistic on the symmetric group, and examine its distribution on each conjugacy class. Our work generalizes the study of several common permutation statistics, including the number of inversions, the number of descents, the major index, and the number of excedances. As a consequence, we obtain explicit formulas for the first moments of several statistics by conjugacy class. We also show that when the cycle lengths are sufficiently large, the higher moments of arbitrary permutation statistics are independent of the conjugacy class. Fulman (J. Comb. Theory Ser. A., 1998) previously established this result for major index and descents. We obtain these results, in part, by generalizing the techniques of Fulman (ibid.), and introducing the notion of permutation constraints. For permutation statistics that can be realized via symmetric constraints, we show that each moment is a polynomial in the degree of the symmetric group.
