For each of the four particle processes given by Dieker and Warren [arXiv:0707.1843], we show the $n$-step transition kernels are given by the (dual) (weak) refined symmetric Grothendieck functions up to a simple overall factor. We do so by encoding the particle dynamics as the basis of free fermions first introduced by the first author, which we translate into deformed Schur operators acting on partitions. We provide a direct combinatorial proof of this relationship in each case, where the defining tableaux naturally describe the particle motions.

Assuming Stanley's $P$-partition conjecture holds, the regular Schur labeled skew shape posets with underlying set $\{1,2,\ldots, n\}$ are precisely the posets $P$ such that the $P$-partition generating function is symmetric and the set of linear extensions of $P$, denoted $Σ_L(P)$, is a left weak Bruhat interval in the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_n$. We describe the permutations in $Σ_L(P)$ in terms of reading words of standard Young tableaux when $P$ is a regular Schur labeled skew shape poset, and classify $Σ_L(P)$'s up to descent-preserving isomorphism as $P$ ranges over regular Schur labeled skew shape posets. The results obtained are then applied to classify the $0$-Hecke modules $\mathsf{M}_P$ associated with regular Schur labeled skew shape posets $P$ up to isomorphism. Then we characterize regular Schur labeled skew shape posets as the posets whose linear extensions form a dual plactic-closed subset of $\mathfrak{S}_n$. Using this characterization, we construct distinguished filtrations of $\mathsf{M}_P$ with respect to the Schur basis when $P$ is a regular Schur labeled skew shape poset. Further issues concerned with the classification and decomposition of the $0$-Hecke modules $\mathsf{M}_P$ are also discussed.
Matrix positivity preservers in fixed dimension. II: positive definiteness and strict monotonicity of Schur function ratios
We continue the study of real polynomials acting entrywise on matrices of fixed dimension to preserve positive semidefiniteness, together with the related analysis of order properties of Schur polynomials.
Previous work has shown that, given a real polynomial with positive coefficients that is perturbed by adding a higher-degree monomial, there exists a negative lower bound for the coefficient of the perturbation which characterizes when the perturbed polynomial remains positivity preserving. We show here that, if the perturbation coefficient is strictly greater than this bound then the transformed matrix becomes positive definite given a simple genericity condition that can be readily verified. We identity a slightly stronger genericity condition that ensures positive definiteness occurs at the boundary.
The analysis is complemented by computing the rank of the transformed matrix in terms of the location of the original matrix in a Schubert cell-type stratification that we have introduced and explored previously. The proofs require enhancing to strictness a Schur monotonicity result of Khare and Tao, to show that the ratio of Schur polynomials is strictly increasing along each coordinate on the positive orthant and non-decreasing on its closure whenever the defining tuples satisfy a coordinate-wise domination condition.
The inhomogeneous multispecies PushTASEP: Dynamics and symmetry
We introduce and study a natural multispecies variant of the inhomogeneous PushTASEP with site-dependent rates on the finite ring. We show that the stationary distribution of this process is proportional to the ASEP polynomials at $q = 1$ and $t = 0$. This is done by constructing a multiline process which projects to the multispecies PushTASEP, and identifying its stationary distribution using time-reversal arguments. We also study symmetry properties of the process under interchange of the rates associated to the sites. These results hold not just for events depending on the configuration at a single time in equilibrium, but also for systems out of equilibrium and for events depending on the path of the process over time. Lastly, we give explicit formulas for nearest-neighbour two-point correlations in terms of Schur functions.
Periodic $q$-Whittaker and Hall-Littlewood processes
We study the periodic $q$-Whittaker and Hall-Littlewood processes, two probability measures on sequences of partitions. We prove that a certain observable of the periodic $q$-Whittaker process exhibits a $(q,u)$ symmetry after a random shift, generalizing a previous result of Imamura, Mucciconi, and Sasamoto who showed a matching between the periodic Schur and $q$-Whittaker measures, and also give a vertex model formulation of their result. As part of our proof of the $(q,u)$ symmetry, we obtain contour integral formulas for both the periodic $q$-Whittaker and Hall-Littlewood processes. We also show a matching between certain observables in the periodic Hall-Littlewood process and in a quasi-periodic stochastic six vertex model after a suitable random shift, and discuss a limit to the stationary periodic stochastic six vertex model.
Combinatorics and Representation Theory of Special Cases of Chern Plethysm
Chern plethysm (introduced by Billey, Rhoades, and Tewari) is a geometric way to produce Schur positive symmetric polynomials. We present combinatorial interpretations for the Schur expansions of special cases of Chern plethysm. We also exhibit a symmetric group module whose Frobenius characteristic is (a symmetric function analog of) one of these cases, generalizing a result of Reiner and Webb.
The mixed Schur transform: efficient quantum circuit and applications
The Schur transform, which block-diagonalizes the tensor representation $U^{\otimes n}$ of the unitary group $\mathbf{U}_d$ on $n$ qudits, is an important primitive in quantum information and theoretical physics. We give a generalization of its quantum circuit implementation due to Bacon, Chuang, and Harrow (SODA 2007) to the case of mixed tensor $U^{\otimes n} \otimes \bar{U}^{\otimes m}$, where $\bar{U}$ is the dual representation. This representation is the symmetry of unitary-equivariant channels, which find various applications in quantum majority vote, multiport-based teleportation, asymmetric state cloning, black-box unitary transformations, etc. The "mixed" Schur transform contains several natural extensions of the representation theory used in the Schur transform, in which the main ingredient is a duality between the mixed tensor representations and the walled Brauer algebra. Another element is an efficient implementation of a "dual" Clebsch-Gordan transform for $\bar{U}$. The overall circuit has complexity $\widetilde{O} ((n+m)d^4)$. Finally, we show how the mixed Schur transform enables efficient implementation of unitary-equivariant channels in various settings and discuss other potential applications, including an extension of permutational quantum computing that includes partial transposes.

This paper considers generalizations of certain arithmetic complexes appearing in the work of Raicu and VandeBogert in connection with the study of stable sheaf cohomology on flag varieties. Defined over the ring of integer valued polynomials, we prove an isomorphism of these complexes as conjectured by Gao, Raicu, and VandeBogert. In particular, this shows that a previously made identification between the stable sheaf cohomology of hook and two column partition Schur functors applied to the cotangent sheaf of projective space can be made to be uniform with respect to these complexes. These results are extended to the projective space defined over the integers.

In this paper, we present a vertex operator approach to construct and compute all complex irreducible characters of the general linear group $\GL_n(\mathbb F_q)$. Green's theory of $\GL_n(\mathbb F_q)$ is recovered and enhanced under the realization of the Grothendieck ring of representations $R_G=\bigoplus_{n\geq 0}R(\GL_n(\mathbb F_q))$ as two isomorphic Fock spaces associated to two infinite-dimensional $F$-equivariant Heisenberg Lie algebras $\widehat{\mathfrak{h}}_{\hat{\overline{\mathbb F}}_q}$ and $\widehat{\mathfrak{h}}_{\overline{\mathbb F}_q}$, where $F$ is the Frobenius automorphism of the algebraically closed field $\overline{\mathbb F}_q$. Under this picture, the irreducible characters are realized by the Bernstein vertex operators for Schur functions, the characteristic functions of the conjugacy classes are realized by the vertex operators for the Hall-Littlewood functions, and the character table is completely given by matrix coefficients of vertex operators of these two types. One of the features of the current approach is a simpler identification of the Fock space $R_G$ as the Hall algebra of symmetric functions via vertex operator calculus, and another is that we are able to compute in general the character table, where Green's degree formula is demonstrated as an example.
Structure of quasi-crystal graphs and applications to the combinatorics of quasi-symmetric functions
Crystal graphs are powerful combinatorial tools for working with the plactic monoid and symmetric functions. Quasi-crystal graphs are an analogous concept for the hypoplactic monoid and quasi-symmetric functions. This paper makes a combinatorial study of these objects. We explain a previously-observed isomorphism of components of the quasi-crystal graph, and provide an explicit description using a new combinatorial structure called a quasi-array. Then two conjectures of Maas-Gariépy on the interaction of fundamental quasi-symmetric functions and Schur functions and on the arrangement of quasi-crystal components within crystal components are answered, the former positively, the latter negatively.
Asymptotics of Bounded Lecture-Hall Tableaux
We study the asymptotics of bounded lecture hall tableaux. Limit shapes form when the bounds of the lecture hall tableaux go to infinity linearly in the lengths of the partitions describing the large-scale shapes of these tableaux. We prove Conjecture 6.1 in \cite{SKN21}, stating that the slopes of the rescaled height functions in the scaling limit satisfy a complex Burgers equation. We also show that the fluctuations of the unrescaled height functions converge to the Gaussian free field. The proof is based on new construction and analysis of Schur generating functions for the lecture hall tableaux, whose corresponding particle configurations do not form a Gelfand-Tsetlin scheme; and the corresponding dimer models are not doubly periodic.
Descent representations and colored quasisymmetric functions
The quasisymmetric generating function of the set of permutations whose inverses have a fixed descent set is known to be symmetric and Schur-positive. The corresponding representation of the symmetric group is called the descent representation. In this paper, we provide an extension of this result to colored permutation groups, where Gessel's fundamental quasisymmetric functions are replaced by Poirier's colored quasisymmetric functions. For this purpose, we introduce a colored analogue of zigzag shapes and prove that the representations associated with these shapes coincide with colored descent representations studied by Adin, Brenti and Roichman in the case of two colors and Bagno and Biagioli in the general case. Additionally, we provide a colored analogue of MaMahon's alternating formula which expresses ribbon Schur functions in the basis of complete homogeneous symmetric functions.
Coloured corner processes from asymptotics of LLT polynomials
We consider probability measures arising from the Cauchy summation identity for the LLT (Lascoux--Leclerc--Thibon) symmetric polynomials of rank $n \geq 1$. We study the asymptotic behaviour of these measures as one of the two sets of polynomials in the Cauchy identity stays fixed, while the other one grows to infinity. At $n=1$, this corresponds to an analogous limit of the Schur process, which is known to be given by the Gaussian Unitary Ensemble (GUE) corners process.
Our main result states that, for $n>1$, our measures asymptotically split into two parts: a continuous one and a discrete one. The continuous part is a product of $n$ GUE corners processes; the discrete part is an explicit finite distribution on interlacing $n$-colourings of $n$ interlacing triangles, which has weights that are rational functions in the LLT parameter $q$. The latter distribution has a number of interesting (partly conjectural) combinatorial properties, such as $q$-nonnegativity and enumerative phenomena underlying its support.
Our main tools are two different representations of the LLT polynomials, one as partition functions of a fermionic lattice model of rank $n$, and the other as finite-dimensional contour integrals, which were recently obtained in arXiv:2012.02376, arXiv:2101.01605.

We obtain bounds for the size of the Schur multiplier of finite $p$-groups and finite groups, which improve all existing bounds. Moreover, we obtain bounds for the size of the second cohomology group $H^2(G,\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z})$ of a $p$-group with coefficients in $\mathbb{Z}/p\mathbb{Z}$. Denoting the minimal number of generators of a $p$-group $G$ by $d(G)$, our bound depends on the parameters $|G|=p^n$, $|γ_2G|=p^k$, $d(G)=d$, $d(G/Z)=δ$ and $d(γ_2G/γ_3G)=k'$. For special $p$-groups, we further improve our bound when $δ-1 > k'$. Moreover, given natural numbers $d$, $δ$, $k$ and $k'$ satisfying $k=k'$ and $δ-1 \leq k'$, we construct a capable $p$-group $H$ of nilpotency class two and exponent $p$ such that the size of the Schur multiplier attains our bound.
On the Kronecker product of Schur functions of square shapes
Motivated by the Saxl conjecture and the tensor square conjecture, which states that the tensor squares of certain irreducible representations of the symmetric group contain all irreducible representations, we study the tensor squares of irreducible representations associated with square Young diagrams. We give a formula for computing Kronecker coefficients, which are indexed by two square partitions and a three-row partition, specifically one with a short second row and the smallest part equal to 1. We also prove the positivity of square Kronecker coefficients for particular families of partitions, including three-row partitions and near-hooks.
On schurity of dihedral groups
A finite group $G$ is called a Schur group if every $S$-ring over $G$ is schurian, i.e. associated in a natural way with a subgroup of $Sym(G)$ that contains all right translations. One of the crucial questions in the $S$-ring theory is the question on schurity of nonabelian groups, in particular, on existence of an infinite family of nonabelian Schur groups. In this paper, we study schurity of dihedral groups. We show that any generalized dihedral Schur group is dihedral and obtain necessary conditions of schurity for dihedral groups. Further, we prove that a dihedral group of order $2p$, where $p$ is a Fermat prime or prime of the form $p=4q+1$, where $q$ is also prime, is Schur. Towards this result, we prove nonexistence of a difference set in a cyclic group of order $p\neq 13$ and classify all $S$-rings over some dihedral groups.

Duchamp--Hivert--Thibon introduced the construction of a right $H_n(0)$-module, denoted as $M_P$, for any partial order $P$ on the set $[n]$. This module is defined by specifying a suitable action of $H_n(0)$ on the set of linear extensions of $P$. In this paper, we refer to this module as the poset module associated with $P$. Firstly, we show that $\bigoplus_{n \ge 0} G_0(\mathscr{P}(n))$ has a Hopf algebra structure that is isomorphic to the Hopf algebra of quasisymmetric functions, where $\mathscr{P}(n)$ is the full subcategory of $\textbf{mod-}H_n(0)$ whose objects are direct sums of finitely many isomorphic copies of poset modules and $G_0(\mathscr{P}(n))$ is the Grothendieck group of $\mathscr{P}(n)$. We also demonstrate how (anti-)automorphism twists interact with these modules, the induction product and restrictions. Secondly, we investigate the (type 1) quasisymmetric power sum expansion of some quasi-analogues $Y_α$ of Schur functions, where $α$ is a composition. We show that they can be expressed as the sum of the $P$-partition generating functions of specific posets, which allows us to utilize the result established by Liu--Weselcouch. Additionally, we provide a new algorithm for obtaining these posets. Using these findings, for the dual immaculate function and the extended Schur function, we express the coefficients appearing in the quasisymmetric power sum expansions in terms of border strip tableaux.

A graph $Γ$ is said to be unstable if for the direct product $Γ\times K_2$, $Aut(Γ\times K_2)$ is not isomorphic to $Aut(Γ) \times \mathbb{Z}_2$. In this paper we show that a connected and non-bipartite Cayley graph $Cay(H,S)$ is unstable if and only if the set $S \times \{1\}$ belongs to a Schur ring over the group $H \times \mathbb{Z}_2$ having certain properties. The Schur rings with these properties are characterized if $H$ is an abelian group of odd order or a cyclic group of twice odd order. As an application, a short proof is given for the result of Witte Morris stating that every connected unstable Cayley graph on an abelian group of odd order has twins (Electron.~J.~Combin, 2021). As another application, sufficient and necessary conditions are given for a connected and non-bipartite circulant graph of order $2p^e$ to be unstable, where $p$ is an odd prime and $e \ge 1$.
Monotone links in DAHA and EHA
We define monotone links on a torus, obtained as projections of curves in the plane whose coordinates are monotone increasing. Using the work of Morton-Samuelson, to each monotone link we associate elements in the double affine Hecke algebra and the elliptic Hall algebra. In the case of torus knots (when the curve is a straight line), we recover symmetric function operators appearing in the rational shuffle conjecture.
We show that the class of monotone links viewed as links in $\mathbb R^3$ coincides with the class of Coxeter links, studied by Oblomkov-Rozansky in the setting of the flag Hilbert scheme. When the curve satisfies a convexity condition, we recover positroid links that we previously studied. In the convex case, we conjecture that the associated symmetric functions are Schur positive, extending a recent conjecture of Blasiak-Haiman-Morse-Pun-Seelinger, and we speculate on the relation to Khovanov-Rozansky homology.
Our constructions satisfy a skein recurrence where the base case consists of piecewise almost linear curves. We show that convex piecewise almost linear curves give rise to algebraic links.
Laplacian Immanantal Polynomials of a Bipartite Graph and Graph Shift Operation
Let $G$ be a bipartite graph on $n$ vertices with the Laplacian matrix $L_G$. When $G$ is a tree, inequalities involving coefficients of immanantal polynomials of $L_G$ are known as we go up $GTS_n$ poset of unlabelled trees with $n$ vertices. We extend $GTS$ operation on a tree to an arbitrary graph, we call it generalized graph shift (hencefourth $GGS$) operation. Using $GGS$ operation, we generalize these known inequalities associated with trees to bipartite graphs. Using vertex orientations of $G$, we give a combinatorial interpretation for each coefficient of the Laplacian immanantal polynomial of $G$ which is used to prove counter parts of Schur theorem and Lieb's conjecture for these coefficients. We define $GGS_n$ poset on $Ω_{C_k}^v(n)$, the set of unlabelled unicyclic graphs with $n$ vertices where each vertex of the cycle $C_k$ has degree $2$ except one vertex $v$. Using $GGS_n$ poset on $Ω_{C_{2k}}^v(n)$, we solves an extreme value problem of finding the max-min pair in $Ω_{C_{2k}}^v(n)$ for each coefficient of the generalized Laplacian polynomials. At the end of this paper, we also discuss the monotonicity of the spectral radius and the Wiener index of an unicyclic graph when we go up along $GGS_n$ poset of $Ω_{C_k}^v(n)$.
