The Stanley-Stembridge Conjecture for $\bf 2 + 1 +1$-avoiding unit interval orders: a diagrammatic proof
A natural unit interval order is a naturally labelled partially ordered set that avoids patterns ${\bf 3} + {\bf 1}$ and $\bf 2 + 2$. To each natural unit interval order one can associate a symmetric function. The Stanley-Stembridge conjecture states that each such symmetric function is positive in the basis of complete homogenous symmetric functions. This conjecture has connections to cohomology rings of Hessenberg varieties, and to Kazhdan-Lusztig theory. We use a diagrammatic technique to re-prove the special case of the conjecture for unit interval orders additionally avoiding pattern $\bf 2 + 1 + 1$. Originally this special case is due to Gebhard and Sagan.

We give a Orlik-Solomon type presentation for the cohomology ring of arrangements in a non-compact abelian Lie group. The new insight consists in comparing arrangements in different abelian groups. Our work is based on the Varchenko-Gelfand ring for real hyperplane arrangements and from that we deduce the cohomology rings of all other abelian arrangements. As by-product, we obtain a new proof of the Orlik-Solomon relations and De Concini-Procesi ones.
The intersection cohomology Hodge module of toric varieties
We study the Hodge filtration of the intersection cohomology Hodge module for toric varieties. More precisely, we study the cohomology sheaves of the graded de Rham complex of the intersection cohomology Hodge module and give a precise formula relating it with the stalks of the intersection cohomology as a constructible complex. The main idea is to use the Ishida complex in order to compute the higher direct images of the sheaf of reflexive differentials.
Cosystolic Expansion of Sheaves on Posets with Applications to Good 2-Query Locally Testable Codes and Lifted Codes
We study sheaves on posets, showing that cosystolic expansion of such sheaves can be derived from local expansion conditions of the sheaf and the poset (typically a high dimensional expander). When the poset at hand is a cell complex, a sheaf on it may be thought of as generalizing coefficient groups used for defining homology and cohomology, by letting the coefficient group vary along the cell complex. Previous works established local criteria for cosystolic expansion only for simplicial complexes and with respect to constant coefficients. Cosystolic expansion of sheaves is related to property testing. We use this relation and our local criterion for cosystolic expansion to give two applications to locally testable codes (LTCs).
First, we show the existence of good $2$-query LTCs. These codes are related to the recent good $q$-query LTCs of Dinur et. al and Panteleev-Kalachev, being the formers' so-called line codes, but we get them from a new, more illuminating perspective, namely, by realizing them as cocycle codes of sheaves over posets. We then derive their good properties directly from our criterion for cosystolic expansion.
Second, we give a local criterion for a a lifted code (with some auxiliary structure) to be locally testable. This improves on a previous work of Dikstein et. al, where it was shown that one can obtain local testability of lifted codes from a mixture of local and global conditions.

Schubert polynomials are polynomial representatives of Schubert classes in the cohomology of the complete flag variety and have a combinatorial formulation in terms of bumpless pipe dreams. Quantum double Schubert polynomials are polynomial representatives of Schubert classes in the torus-equivariant quantum cohomology of the complete flag variety, but no analogous combinatorial formulation had been discovered. We introduce a generalization of the bumpless pipe dreams called quantum bumpless pipe dreams, giving a novel combinatorial formula for quantum double Schubert polynomials as a sum of binomial weights of quantum bumpless pipe dreams. We give a bijective proof for this formula by showing that the sum of binomial weights satisfies a defining transition equation.
Stembridge codes, permutahedral varieties, and their extensions
It is well known that the Eulerian polynomial is the Hilbert series of the cohomology of the permutahedral variety. Stanley obtained a formula showing that the cohomology carries a permutation representation of $\mathfrak{S}_n$. We answer a question of Stembridge on finding an explicit permutation basis of this cohomology. We observe that the Feichtner-Yuzvinsky basis for the Chow ring of the Boolean matroid is such a permutation basis, and then we construct an $\mathfrak{S}_n$-equivariant bijection between this basis and codes introduced by Stembridge, thereby giving a combinatorial proof of Stanley's formula. We obtain an analogous result for the stellahedral variety. We find a permutation basis of the permutation representation its cohomology carries. This involves the augmented Chow ring of a matroid introduced by Braden, Huh, Matherne, Proudfoot and Wang. Along the way, we obtain a general result on augmented Chow rings (which was also independently obtained by Eur) asserting that augmented Chow rings of matroids are actually Chow rings in the sense of Feichtner and Yuzvinsky. In the last part of the paper, we study enumerative aspects of the permutahedra and the stellohedra related to these permutation bases.
On the topology of the moduli of tropical unramified p-covers
We study the topology of the moduli space of unramified $\mathbb{Z}/p$-covers of tropical curves of genus $g \geq 2$, where $p$ is a prime number. We use recent techniques by Chan--Galatius--Payne to identify contractible subcomplexes of the moduli space. We then use this contractibility result to show that this moduli space is simply connected. In the case of genus 2, we determine the homotopy type of this moduli space for all primes $p$. This work is motivated by prospective applications to the top-weight cohomology of the space of prime cyclic étale covers of smooth algebraic curves.
Crystal Chute Moves on Pipe Dreams

Schubert polynomials represent a basis for the cohomology of the complete flag variety and thus play a central role in geometry and combinatorics. In this context, Schubert polynomials are generating functions over various combinatorial objects, such as rc-graphs or reduced pipe dreams. By restricting Bergeron and Billey's chute moves on rc-graphs, we define a Demazure crystal structure on the monomials of a Schubert polynomial. As a consequence, we provide a method for decomposing Schubert polynomials as sums of key polynomials, complementing related work of Assaf and Schilling via reduced factorizations with cutoff, as well as Lenart's coplactic operators on biwords.
Digraphs, pro-$p$ groups and Massey products in Galois cohomology
Let $p$ be a prime. We characterize the oriented right-angled Artin pro-$p$ groups whose $\mathbb{F}_p$-cohomology algebra yields no essential $n$-fold Massey products for every $n>2$, in terms of the associated digraph. Moreover, we show that the $\mathbb{F}_p$-cohomology algebra of such oriented right-angled Artin pro-$p$ groups is isomorphic to the exterior Stanley-Reisner $\mathbb{F}_p$-algebra associated to the same digraph. This work also aims at providing a concrete and group-theoretic introduction to the study of Massey products in Galois cohomology for non-specialists, especially graduate students working in profinite group theory.

We describe a canonical decomposition of the cohomology of the Dani-Mainkar metabelian Lie algebras associated with graphs. As applications, we obtain explicit formulas for the third cohomology of any Dani-Mainkar Lie algebra and for the cohomology in all degrees of Lie algebras associated with arbitrary star graphs. We also describe a procedure to reduce the calculation of the cohomology of solvable Lie algebras associated with graphs through the Grantcharov-Grantcharov-Iliev construction to the cohomology of Dani-Mainkar Lie algebras.
A categorification for the characteristic polynomial of matroids
In the present paper, we provide a cohomology group as a categorification of the characteristic polynomial of matroids. The construction depends on the ``quasi-representation'' of a matroid. For a certain choice of the quasi-representation, we show that our cohomology theory gives a generalization of the chromatic cohomology introduced by L. Helme-Guizon and Y. Rong, and also the characteristic cohomology introduced by Z. Dancso and A. Licata.
Bernstein--Sato polynomials of locally quasi-homogeneous divisors in $\mathbb{C}^{3}$
We consider the Bernstein--Sato polynomial of a locally quasi-homogeneous polynomial $f \in R = \mathbb{C}[x_{1}, x_{2}, x_{3}]$. We construct, in the analytic category, a complex of $\mathscr{D}_{X}[s]$-modules that can be used to compute the $\mathscr{D}_{X}[s]$-dual of $\mathscr{D}_{X}[s] f^{s-1}$ as the middle term of a short exact sequence where the outer terms are well understood. This extends a result by Narváez Macarro where a freeness assumption was required.
We derive many results about the zeroes of the Bernstein--Sato polynomial. First, we prove each nonvanishing degree of the zeroeth local cohomology of the Milnor algebra $H_{\mathfrak{m}}^{0} (R / (\partial f))$ contributes a root to the Bernstein--Sato polynomial, generalizing a result of M. Saito's (where the argument cannot weaken homogeneity to quasi-homogeneity). Second, we prove the zeroes of the Bernstein--Sato polynomial admit a partial symmetry about $-1$, extending a result of Narváez Macarro that again required freeness. We give applications to very small roots, the twisted Logarithmic Comparison Theorem, and more precise statements when $f$ is additionally assumed to be homogeneous.
Finally, when $f$ defines a hyperplane arrangement in $\mathbb{C}^{3}$ we give a complete formula for the zeroes of the Bernstein--Sato polynomial of $f$. We show all zeroes except the candidate root $-2 + (2 / \text{deg}(f))$ are (easily) combinatorially given; we give many equivalent characterizations of when the only non-combinatorial candidate root $-2 + (2/ \text{deg}(f))$ is in fact a zero of the Bernstein--Sato polynomial. One equivalent condition is the nonvanishing of $H_{\mathfrak{m}}^{0}( R / (\partial f))_{\text{deg}(f) - 1}$.
Multi-Dimensional Cohomological Phenomena in the Multiparametric Models of Random Simplicial Complexes
In the past two decades, extensive research has been conducted on the (co)homology of various models of random simplicial complexes. So far, it has always been examined merely as a list of groups. This paper expands upon this by describing both the ring structure and the Steenrod-algebra structure of the cohomology of the multiparametric models. For the lower model, we prove that the ring structure is always a.a.s trivial, while, for certain parameters, the Steenrod-algebra a.a.s acts non-trivially. This reveals that complex multi-dimensional topological structures appear as subcomplexes of this model. In contrast, we improve upon a result of Farber and Nowik, and assert that the cohomology of the upper multiparametric model is a.a.s concentrated in a single dimension.
A Plücker coordinate mirror for partial flag varieties and quantum Schubert calculus
We construct a Plücker coordinate superpotential $\mathcal{F}_-$ that is mirror to a partial flag variety $\mathbb{ F}\ell(n_\bullet)$. Its Jacobi ring recovers the small quantum cohomology of $\mathbb{ F}\ell(n_\bullet)$ and we prove a folklore conjecture in mirror symmetry. Namely, we show that the eigenvalues for the action of the first Chern class $c_1(\mathbb{ F}\ell(n_\bullet))$ on quantum cohomology are equal to the critical values of $\mathcal{F}_-$. We achieve this by proving new identities in quantum Schubert calculus that are inspired by our formula for $\mathcal{F}_-$ and the mirror symmetry conjecture.

A spline is an assignment of polynomials to the vertices of a graph whose edges are labeled by ideals, where the difference of two polynomials labeling adjacent vertices must belong to the corresponding ideal. The set of splines forms a ring. We consider spline rings where the underlying graph is the Cayley graph of a symmetric group generated by a collection of transpositions. These rings generalize the GKM construction for equivariant cohomology rings of flag, regular semisimple Hessenberg, and permutohedral varieties. These cohomology rings carry two actions of the symmetric group $S_n$ whose graded characters are both of general interest in algebraic combinatorics. In this paper, we generalize the graded $S_n$-representations from the cohomologies of the above varieties to splines on Cayley graphs of $S_n$, then (1) give explicit module and ring generators for whenever the $S_n$-generating set is minimal, (2) give a combinatorial characterization of when graded pieces of one $S_n$-representation is trivial, and (3) compute the first degree piece of both graded characters for all generating sets.
The weak categorical quiver minor theorem and its applications: matchings, multipaths, and magnitude cohomology
Building upon previous works of Proudfoot and Ramos, and using the categorical framework of Sam and Snowden, we extend the weak categorical minor theorem from undirected graphs to quivers. As case of study, we investigate the consequences on the homology of multipath complexes; eg. on its torsion. Further, we prove a comparison result: we show that, when restricted to directed graphs without oriented cycles, multipath complexes and matching complexes yield functors which commute up to a blow-up operation on directed graphs. We use this fact to compute the homotopy type of matching complexes for a certain class of bipartite graphs also known as half-graphs or ladders. We complement the work with a study of the (representation) category of cones, and with analysing related consequences on magnitude cohomology of quivers.
$q$-deformation of Aomoto complex
A degree one element of the Orlik-Solomon algebra of a hyperplane arrangement defines a cochain complex known as the Aomoto complex. The Aomoto complex can be considerd as the ``linear approximation'' of the twisted cochain complex with coefficients in a complex rank one local system.
In this paper, we discuss $q$-deformations of the Aomoto complex. The $q$-deformation is defined by replacing the entries of representation matrices of the coboundary maps with their $q$-analogues. While the resulting maps do not generally define cochain complexes, for certain special basis derived from real structures, the $q$-deformation becomes again a cochain complex. Moreover, it exhibits universality in the sense that any specialization of $q$ to a complex number yields the cochain complex computing the corresponding local system cohomology group.
Recovering trees from the cohomology ring of their configuration spaces
Given a tree $T$, the cohomology ring of its unordered configuration space $H^{\ast}(U\mathcal{D}^nT)$ is an exterior face algebra if $T$ is a binary core tree (if by removing the leaves from $T$ we obtain a binary tree), or if $n=4$. This means that every cup product is determined by a simplicial complex $K_nT$. In this paper we show how to recover the tree $T$ from the simplicial complex $K_nT$ when $n=4.$
The spectra of Laplace operators on covering simplicial complexes
We give a decomposition of the Laplace operator (in matrix form) of a covering simplicial complex as a direct sum of several matrices, one of which is the Laplace operator of the base complex. It follows that the spectrum of a covering simplicial complex is a multiset union of the spectrum of the base simplicial complex and the spectra of other relevant matrices, which implies the spectral inclusion property of Horak and Jost. In the case of a $2$-fold covering, we show that the spectrum is a multiset union of the spectrum of the base complex and that of an incidence-signed simplicial complex, thereby generalizing a result of Bilu and Linial from graphs to simplicial complexes. Additionally, we show that the dimension of the cohomology of a covering complex is greater than or equal to that of the base complex. Our arguments exploit the coverings of incidence graphs of simplicial complexes and the representation theory of permutation groups.
Intersection multiplicity one for the Belkale-Kumar product in G/B
Consider the complete flag variety $X$ of a complex semisimple algebraic group $G$. We show that the structure coefficients of the Belkale-Kumar product $\odot_0$, on the cohomology $\mathrm{H}^{*}(X,\mathbf{Z})$, are all either $0$ or $1$. We also derive some consequences. The proof that is mainly geometric also uses new combinatorial results on root systems. Moreover, it is uniform and avoids case by case considerations.
