On colourings of cubic lattices
Given the integral lattice $Λ^d$ in $d$-dimensional Euclidean space, partitions of the lattice nodes into orbits of finite-index subgroups of $Aut(Λ^d)$ have been computed for $d \leq 4$. These partitions can be interpreted as colourings of orbits defined up to permutation of colours. Complete results are obtained for $d=2$ up to 64 orbits, for $d=3$ up to 8 orbits, and for 2 orbits in dimension 4. The automorphism groups of the partitions are also determined. Our results for two orbits in dimension 3 correct the old result of H. Heesch [Z. Kristallogr., (1933), 85, 335--344] who overlooked one partition.
On the second largest eigenvalue of certain graphs in the perfect matching association scheme
The perfect matching association scheme is a set of relations on the perfect matchings of the complete graph on $2n$ vertices. The relations between perfect matchings are defined by the cycle structure of the union of any two perfect matchings, and each relation can be represented as a matrix. Each matrix is labeled by an integer partition whose parts correspond to the size do the cycles in the union. Since these matrices form an association scheme, they are simultaneously diagonalizable. Further, it is well-known that the common eigenspaces correspond to the irreducible representations of $S_{2n}$ indexed by the even partitions of $2n$. In this paper, we conjecture that the second largest eigenvalue of the matrices in the perfect matching association scheme labeled by a partition containing at least two parts of size 1 always occurs on the eigenspace corresponding to the representation indexed by $[2n-2, 2]$. We confirm this conjecture for matrices labeled by the partitions $[2, 1^{n-2}], [3, 1^{n-3}], [2, 2, 1^{n-4}], [4, 1^{n-4}], [3, 2, 1^{n-5}]$, and $[5, 1^{n-5}]$, as well as any partition in which the first part is sufficiently large.

Bounded core partitions and Borel--Weil--Bott
As a consequence of the Borel--Weil--Bott theorem, the nonvanishing of Hodge numbers of line bundles on a Grassmannian can be reinterpreted in terms of the existence of $t$-core partitions inside a rectangle. We sharpen known conditions for the nonvanishing of Hodge numbers of line bundles on a Grassmannian and give an elementary proof of the Nakano vanishing theorem in this setting. Using the theory of $t$-core partitions, we determine when $H^i(\mathrm{Gr}(k,n),Ω^j(t))$ vanishes in the cases $t=3$ and $i+j\geq k(n-k)-1$.

The insertion encoding of restricted growth functions
We adapt the vertical and horizontal insertion encodings of Cayley permutations to enumerate restricted growth functions, which are in bijection with unordered set partitions. For both insertion encodings, we fully classify the classes for which these languages are regular. For the horizontal insertion encoding, we also prove that the conditions to be regular are the same for restricted growth functions of matchings.

Perfect Overpartitions and Factorization of Integers
In his classic text, \emph{Combinatory Analysis}, MacMahon defined a perfect partition of a positive integer $n$ as a partition whose parts contain exactly one partition of every positive integer not exceeding $n$. In this paper we apply the same definition to overpartitions which are integer partitions with the additional property that the final occurrence of each part may be overlined. It turns out that perfect overpartitions are enumerated by ordered factorization functions in which the occurrence of 2 as a factor determines the presence of an overlined part.

Derangements in affine classical groups and Cohen-Lenstra heuristics
We observe that Anzanello's work on the proportion of derangements in affine classical groups over finite fields is related to symplectic and orthogonal Cohen-Lenstra type distributions on integer partitions. This leads to a proof of three q-polynomial identities conjectured by Anzanello, which were crucial for her work.
5-Coloring Planar Graphs with a Color Class of Order at Most $|V|/6$
We show that any planar graph $G=(V,E)$ has a 5-coloring such that one color class contains at most $|V|/6$ vertices. In other words, there exists a partition of $V$ into five independent sets $\{V_1, \cdots, V_5\}$ such that $|V_5| \leq |V| / 6$. Our proof yields an $O(|V|^2)$-time algorithm to find such a partition, and unlike the Four Color Theorem, our proof is fully verifiable without computer assistance.

A note on lower bounds for arithmetic regularity partitions
This paper establishes lower bounds for two kinds of arithmetic regularity partitions, building on constructions of Green [arXiv:math/0310476v2] and Hosseini, Lovett, Moshkovitz, and Shapira [arXiv:1405.4409]. The first kind occurs in the so-called strong arithmetic regularity lemma due to Bhattcharrya, Fischer, and Lovett [arXiv:1201.0330v2, Theorem 4.9], which is an arithmetic analogue of the strong regularity lemma for graphs developed by Alon, Fischer, Krivelevich, and Szegedy. Conlon and Fox [arXiv:1107.4829], as well as Kalyanasundaram and Shapira [arXiv:1107.4896v2], demonstrated that there are graphs for which any strong regularity partition must have size at least a wowzer-type function in the pseudorandomness parameter, and the primary aim of this paper is to match this bound in the setting of vector spaces over finite fields. The second kind of arithmetic regularity partition originates from higher-order arithmetic regularity lemmas. The upper bounds on the size of these partitions are known to be of tower-type growth. Previous work [arXiv:math/0310476v2, arXiv:1405.4409] demonstrated that this is unavoidable for the `linear' arithmetic regularity lemma of Green [arXiv:math/0310476v2], and the second contribution of this paper confirms that this continues to be necessary in the higher-order setting.

Para-exceptional sequences for tame hereditary algebras and McCammond-Sulway lattices
Noncrossing partition posets in a Coxeter group $W$ can fail to be lattices when $W$ is not finite. When the lattice property fails for $W$ of affine type, McCammond and Sulway's construction provides a larger lattice that contains the noncrossing partition poset and that furthermore is a combinatorial Garside structure. We construct a lattice, isomorphic to McCammond and Sulway's lattice, using the representation theory of a corresponding connected tame hereditary algebra and give a representation-theoretic proof that it is a combinatorial Garside structure. To construct the lattice, we introduce para-exceptional sequences and para-exceptional subcategories in the module categories of tame hereditary algebras. Para-exceptional sequences are generalizations of exceptional sequences obtained by enlarging the set of allowed entries to include all non-homogeneous bricks. A para-exceptional subcategory is a subcategory obtained by applying a certain closure-like operator to the wide subcategory generated by a para-exceptional sequence.

Congruences for an analogue of Lin's partition function
We study certain arithmetic properties of an analogue $B(n)$ of Lin's restricted partition function that counts the number of partition triples $π=(π_1,π_2,π_3)$ of $n$ such that $π_1$ and $π_2$ comprise distinct odd parts and $π_3$ consists of parts divisible by $4$. With the help of elementary $q$-series techniques and modular functions, we establish Ramanujan-type congruences modulo $2,3,5,7$, and $9$ for certain sums involving $B(n)$.

On the quadratic complexity of subsets of $\mathbb{F}_p^n$ of bounded $\mathrm{VC_{2}}$-dimension
In prior work, we showed that subsets of $\mathbb{F}_{p}^{n}$ of $\mathrm{VC_{2}}$-dimension at most $k$ are well approximated by a union of atoms of a quadratic factor of complexity $(\ell,q)$, where the complexity $\ell$ of the linear part and the complexity $q$ of the quadratic part are both bounded in terms of $k$, $p$, and the desired level of approximation $μ$. A key tool in the proof of this result was an arithmetic regularity lemma for the Gowers $U^3$-norm by Green and Tao, which resulted in tower-type bounds (in terms of $μ^{-1}$) on both $\ell$ and $q$. In the present paper we show that for sets of bounded $\mathrm{VC}_2$-dimension, the bound on $q$ can be substantially improved. Specifically, we will prove that any set $A\subseteq G=\mathbb{F}_p^n$ of $\mathrm{VC}_2$-dimension at most $k$ is approximately equal (up to error $μ|G|$) to a union of atoms of a quadratic factor whose quadratic complexity is at most $\log_p(μ^{-k-o(1)})$, implying that the purely quadratic component of the factor partitions the group into $μ^{-k-o(1)}$ many parts. We achieve this by using our earlier result to obtain an initial quadratic factor $\mathcal{B}$, and then applying a generalization of an argument of Alon, Fox and Zhao for subsets of $\mathbb{F}_{p}^{n}$ of bounded $\mathrm{VC}$-dimension to the label space (also known as "configuration space") of $\mathcal{B}$. A related strategy was employed in earlier work of the authors on $\mathrm{NFOP}_2$ subsets of $\mathbb{F}_p^n$, and in work of the first author in the context of 3-uniform hypergraphs.
Bounded Littlewood identities with fixed number of odd rows or odd columns
A Littlewood identity is an identity equating a sum of Schur functions with an infinite product. A bounded Littlewood identity is one where the sum is taken over the partitions with a bounded number of rows or columns. The price to pay is that the infinite product has to be replaced by a determinant. The focus of this article is on refinements of such bounded Littlewood identities where one also prescribes the number of odd-length rows or columns of the partitions. Goulden [{\it Discrete Math.} {\bf99} (1992), 69--77] had given such a refinement in which the number of columns is bounded and the number of odd-length rows is prescribed. We provide refinements where the number of columns is bounded and the number of odd-length columns is prescribed. Furthermore, we present new formulations of such bounded Littlewood identities involving skewing operators. As corollaries we obtain non-standard formulas for numbers of standard Young tableaux with restricted shapes as above. In the last part of the article we discuss combinatorial interpretations of such identities in terms of up-down tableaux. As corollaries, we obtain identities between numbers of standard Young tableaux and numbers of (marked) vacillating tableaux.
On the Walsh spectra of quadratic APN functions
APN functions play a central role as building blocks in the design of many block ciphers, serving as optimal functions to resist differential attacks. One of the most important properties of APN functions is their linearity, which is directly related to the Walsh spectrum of the function. In this paper, we establish two novel connections that allow us to derive strong conditions on the Walsh spectra of quadratic APN functions. We prove that the Walsh transform of a quadratic APN function $F$ operating on $n=2k$ bits is uniquely associated with a vector space partition of $\mathbb{F}_2^n$ and a specific blocking set in the corresponding projective space $PG(n-1,2)$. These connections allow us to prove a variety of results on the Walsh spectrum of $F$. We prove for instance that $F$ can have at most one component function of amplitude larger than $2^{3n/4}$. We also find the first nontrivial upper bound on the number of bent component functions of a quadratic APN function, and provide conditions for a function to be CCZ-equivalent to a permutation based on its number of bent components.

Decomposition of Polysymmetric Functions and Stack Partitions
Polysymmetric functions, introduced by Asvin G and Andrew O'Desky as a generalization of symmetric functions, have natural connections to algebraic geometry and provide a foundation for further developments. In this paper, we study polysymmetric functions using stack partitions and develop combinatorial descriptions of several polysymmetric bases. We introduce two new signed polysymmetric bases and give explicit transition formulas among the monomial, homogeneous, elementary, power, and signed polysymmetric bases. These results extend many familiar identities from symmetric function theory to the polysymmetric setting.

On recent Partition function of Kaur and Rana
Recently, Kaur and Rana introduced the partition function denoted by $ρ(n)$, where the largest part $λ$ appears exactly once, and the remaining parts constitute a partition of $λ$. In this paper, we establish new generating functions for certain variants of $ρ(n)$. Further, we obtain a linear recurrence relation for our new generating function.

Markov's equation is not partition regular
Markov's equation x^2 + y^2 + z^2 = 3xyz is a widely studied topic in number theory, and the structure of its solutions has profound connections with mathematical fields such as combinatorics, hyperbolic geometry, approximation theory, and cluster algebras. In this paper, we prove that Markov's equation is not partition regular, which also confirms a necessary condition for the Uniqueness Conjecture.
Distance mutual-visibility coloring: relations with (total) domination, exact distance graphs and graph products
The concept of mutual-visibility (MV) has been extended in several directions. A vertex subset $S$ of a graph $G$ is a $k$-distance mutual-visibility ($k$DMV) set if for any two vertices in $S$, there is a geodesic between them of length at most $k$ whose internal vertices are not in $S$. In this paper, we combine this with the MV coloring as follows. For any integer $k\geq1$, a $k$DMV coloring of $G$ is a partition of $V(G)$ into $k$DMV sets, and the $k$DMV chromatic number $χ_{μ_k}(G)$ is the minimum cardinality of such a partition. When $k=1$ or $k\ge {\rm diam}(G)$, it equals the clique cover number $θ(G)$ or the MV chromatic number $χ_μ(G)$, respectively. So, our attention is given to $1<k<{\rm diam}(G)$ with $k=2$ producing the most interesting results. We prove that $χ_{μ_2}(G)\le|V(G)|/2$ and present large families of graphs that attain the bound. In addition, $χ_{μ_2}(G)$ is bounded from above by the total domination number $γ_t(G)$ if $G$ is isolate-free, while in graphs $G$ with girth $g(G)\geq7$, $χ_{μ_2}(G)$ is bounded from below by the domination number $γ(G)$. A surprising relation with the exact distance-2 graphs is found, which results in $θ(G^{[\natural2]})=γ_{t}(G)$ for any isolate-free graph $G$ with $g(G)\geq7$. The relation is explored further in lexicographic product graphs, where we prove the sharp inequalities $χ_{μ_{2}}(G\circ H)\leq θ(G^{[\natural2]})\leq θ\big{(}(G\circ H)^{[\natural2]}\big{)}$. We also prove a sharp lower (resp. upper) bound on $χ_{μ_2}$ (resp. $χ_{μ_k}$) for the Cartesian (resp. strong) product of two connected graphs and show that they are widely sharp. Finally, we characterize the block graphs $G$ with $χ_{μ_k}(G)=χ_μ(G)$, where $k={\rm diam}(G)-1$.

Nonlocal Games Through Communication Complexity and Quantum Cryptography
This thesis explores foundational aspects of quantum information theory and quantum cryptography. First, we investigate quantum correlations in interactive settings, including the CHSH and graph isomorphism games. We aim to distinguish quantum correlations from non-signaling correlations by leveraging the principle of communication complexity. To this end, we employ techniques such as distributed computation, majority-function-based distillation protocols, the algebraic and geometric properties of nonlocal box wirings, and variations of some graph properties such as isomorphism, transitivity, and equitable partitions. This inquiry advances our understanding of non-physical correlations. Second, we address a key open problem in cryptography: the feasibility of unclonable encryption. We aim to construct an encryption scheme that prevents two distant parties from simultaneously obtaining information about a shared encrypted message. We introduce a candidate for unclonable encryption in the plain model, i.e. without assumptions, in working towards an unconditional proof. Our protocol is based on Clifford algebra, utilizing complex Hermitian unitary matrices that anti-commute. For small key sizes, we rigorously prove security using sum-of-squares methods, while for larger key sizes, we provide strong numerical evidence via the NPA hierarchy.
Strict Log-concavity of $k$-coloured Partitions
In recent years, there has been extensive work on inequalities among partition functions. In particular, Nicolas, and independently DeSalvo--Pak, proved that the partition function $p(n)$ is eventually log-concave. Inspired by this and other results, Chern--Fu--Tang first conjectured log-concavity of $k$-coloured partitions. Three of the authors and Tripp later proved this conjecture by introducing recursive sequences and a strict inequality for fractional partition functions, giving explicit errors. In this paper, we show that the log-concavity is, in fact, strict for $k\geq 2$. We shed further light on this phenomenon by utilizing Hardy--Littlewood--Pólya's notion of majorizing. We prove that for partitions $\bm{a},\bm{b}$ of $n\in\N$, if $\bm b$ majorizes $\bm a$, then $p_k(\bm{b})>p_k(\bm{a})$. Numerical calculations indicate that our result is sharp.

Progress towards generalized Nash-Williams' conjecture on $K_4$-decompositions
A $K_4$-decomposition of a graph is a partition of its edges into $K_4$s. A fractional $K_4$-decomposition is an assignment of a nonnegative weight to each $K_4$ in a graph such that the sum of the weights of the $K_4$s containing any given edge is one. Formulating a nonlinear programming and reducing the number of variables slowly, we prove that every graph on $n$ vertices with minimum degree at least $\frac{31}{33}n$ has a fractional $K_4$-decomposition. This improves a result of Montgomery that the same conclusion holds for graphs with minimum degree at least $\frac{399}{400}n$. Together with a result of Barber, Kühn, Lo, and Osthus, this result implies that for all $\varepsilon> 0$, every large enough $K_4$-divisible graph on $n$ vertices with minimum degree at least $(\frac{31}{33}+\varepsilon)n$ admits a $K_4$-decomposition.
