Folded-Algebraic Matroids: Characteristic Rigidity and Almost-Entropic Separation
We introduce folded-algebraic matroids. In such a representation, every matroid element is replaced by a finite tuple of algebraic quantities, and transcendence degree agrees with matroid rank after one uniform scaling. The resulting class contains both algebraic and folded-linear matroids and is contained in the class of almost-entropic matroids, whose rank functions are limits of scaled entropy functions. We prove that the latter containment is proper. Our main result concerns the classical rank-three matroids $M(p)$ of Gordon. For every prime $p$, we show that $M(p)$ has a folded-algebraic representation over a field $K$ if and only if $K$ has characteristic $p$. We then use a point-identification construction that preserves almost-entropicity to obtain a $13$-element rank-three $3$-connected matroid $C_{2,3}$ that is almost entropic but not folded algebraic. Choosing a common element as dealer also yields a connected $12$-participant port with incompatible characteristic requirements. Finally, we record compact explicit witnesses and size bounds for several other separating regions among the representation classes.

Double basic hypergeometric sums via a regularized Jackson $q$-integral
Using the Andrews--Askey integral, we derive a holomorphic extension formula for a Jackson $q$-integral. This formula allows identities established for terminating specializations to be continued to the nonterminating case. Our first application yields two companion binomial-type double-sum formulas. The second formula contains, as special cases, the nonterminating Sears--Carlitz transformation of Gasper and Rahman and Rahman's generating function for the Askey--Wilson polynomials. Applying the same method to the $q$-Chu--Vandermonde and Rogers' ${}_6φ_5$ summations, we obtain two further integral representations for double sums of basic hypergeometric type. A balanced ${}_4φ_3$ specialization of the latter identity is equivalent, via Sears' transformation, to the double-series transformation of Ismail, Rahman, and Suslov.

On the Generating Graph of Finite Abelian Groups
The generating graph $Γ(G)$ of a group $G$ is the graph whose vertex set is $G$, where two distinct vertices are adjacent if and only if they generate $G$. In this paper, we systematically study the structure of generating graphs of finite abelian groups (non-cyclic) and determine the set of all generating pairs. Moreover, we give some structural characterizations, in particular, we determine conditions under which $Γ(G)$ is regular, characterize when the isolated vertices form a subgroup, and establish necessary and sufficient conditions for two non-isomorphic finite abelian groups $G$ and $H$ to satisfy $Γ(G)\cong Γ(H)$. Furthermore, we compute the spectra of the adjacency and Laplacian matrices of these graphs.

Subleading Collinear Limits of Yang-Mills Amplitudes from Gravity
We show that the subleading collinear sector of Yang-Mills (YM) amplitudes is controlled by ordinary Einstein-Yang-Mills (EYM) amplitudes and their higher-derivative corrections. The complete set of strict subleading collinear limits associated with an equal-helicity collinear pair can be extracted from open-closed string disk amplitudes. The latter generate $\frac12 (n-3)!$ BCJ-like relations with non-linear kinematic coefficients, reducing the $(n-3)!$ collinear data to a basis of dimension $\frac12 (n-3)!$. This reduced basis can be represented by gravitational amplitudes in EYM theories and by their higher-derivative open-string corrections. At multiplicity $n$ this gravitational basis consists of the $(n-4)!$ independent EYM subamplitudes together with $\frac12 (n-5)(n-4)!$ higher-order corrections involving one graviton and $n-2$ gluons. The resulting decomposition is governed by unsigned Stirling numbers of the first kind: the ordinary EYM amplitudes correspond to the sector $\left[{n-3\atop 1}\right]$, the higher-order BCJ-like relations to even sectors $\left[{n-3\atop 2j}\right]$, and the higher-derivative EYM corrections to odd sectors $\left[{n-3\atop 2j+1}\right]$ with $j\geq 1$.
Varieties of chain complexes and mixed dimer covers
A quiver representation consists of a collection of vector spaces along with a set of arrows, which are linear maps between these spaces. In this work, we study quiver representations in equioriented type $A$ which are also chain complexes; that is, in which consecutive arrows compose to zero. We show that orbits of these representations under a change of basis action are in bijection with mixed dimer covers of a $2 \times n$ grid graph. The latter object can be endowed with a partial order which is a distributive lattice, and we show that the degeneration order on the orbits of chain complexes is a coarsening of this partial order. In addition, we use recent matrix formulae of Claussen and Ovenhouse to enumerate these orbits. This also computes the Kostant partition function applied to height-restricted, type $A$ roots. When the dimension vector is uniform, we discuss a correspondence with paths of a beam of light bouncing between glass plates and give an explicit generating function.
Localization of the Caro-Wei bound and its applications to bipartiteness
We confirm a conjecture of Brause, Randerath, Rautenbach and Schiermeyer (2016) by proving a localized lower bound on the independence number of a graph that strengthens the classical bounds of Fajtlowicz (1978) and of Caro (1979) and Wei (1981), which in turn settles a conjecture by Bertram and Horák (1996). Our proof is based on a new Motzkin--Straus-type inequality involving local clique numbers and the independence number. We then apply the developed methods to study spectral and algebraic measures of graph bipartiteness. In particular, we extend a theorem of Brandt (1998) on spectral bipartiteness from regular $K_{r+1}$-free graphs to all $K_{r+1}$-free graphs, we improve a general upper bound for the least signless Laplacian eigenvalue of $K_{r+1}$-free graphs, and we disprove a conjecture of de Lima, Nikiforov and Oliveira (2016) in the case of $K_4$-free graphs.
On the gonality of Kneser graphs
The Kneser graphs $\text{KG}(n,k)$ are a classically studied family of graphs. One known invariant of graphs is gonality (also called divisorial gonality), which is the minimum degree of a rank 1 divisor on the graph. Using known bounds on gonality of simple, connected graphs, one may obtain that the gonality of $\text{KG}(n,k)$ is bounded above by $\binom{n-1}{k}$. In 2014, Harvey and Wood showed that the treewidth (a lower bound on gonality) for $\text{KG}(n,k)$ is $\binom{n-1}{k}-1$ for $n\geq 4k^2-3k+2$. In this paper, using scramble number, another lower bound on gonality, we improve this polynomial bound and show that the gonality of $\text{KG}(n,k)$ is exactly $\binom{n-1}{k}$ for $n\geq \frac{3k^2+k+2}{2}$, and conjecture an even stricter polynomial bound using the uniform edge scramble. We then extend our argument to the family of generalized Kneser Graphs, computing the scramble number and gonality using the same polynomial bound.
List coloring $C_3$-free planar graphs with a sparse matching of restricted lists
A graph $G$ is $k$-choosable if it has a proper coloring for every $k$-list assignment. While every $C_3$-free planar graph is $4$-choosable, some of them are not $3$-choosable, as constructed by Voigt. Hu and Zhu conjectured that if $G$ is a $C_3$-free planar graph and $X \subseteq V(G)$ induces a bipartite subgraph, then $G$ has a proper $L$-coloring whenever $|L(x)| = 3$ for $x \in X$ and $|L(v)| = 4$ for $v \in V(G) \setminus X$. As evidence, they proved the conjecture when $X$ is an independent set. We provide further evidence by proving the conjecture when the induced subgraph $G[X]$ is an induced sparse matching. This is the first result supporting the conjecture in which the set $X$ receiving smaller lists may induce a subgraph with edges.

Two problems about subgroups of free groups concerning the lengths of their generators
We will answer a problem of Dotsenko that asks for a tight upper bound on the rank of subgroups given a maximum length for its generators. Then, we will use the same tools to answer a longstanding problem of Grigorchuk in the 10th edition of the Kourovka notebook. We accomplish this using Stallings foldings and simple graph theory.

Graphs with Long Pseudosimilarity Chains under Consecutive Vertex Deletions
Pseudosimilar vertices are vertices in distinct automorphism orbits whose deletions produce isomorphic graphs. Classical work has studied the existence, group-theoretic origin, and construction of large sets of such vertices. We ask a different recursive question: how long can one repeatedly delete a vertex that is pseudosimilar at the moment of deletion? We define the pseudosimilarity depth of a graph and construct connected graphs in which this process continues through all but a sublinear number of vertices. A two-clock construction gives a square-root deficit uniformly in the order, while a Chinese-remainder construction with many cyclic clocks yields an infinite family of asymmetric graphs with only a polylogarithmic number of vertices left outside the active chain. The mechanism realizes pseudosimilarity by breaking a long hidden automorphism orbit and enlarging the break one vertex at a time. Thus pseudosimilarity can persist through an asymptotically full sequence of vertex deletions, even though every graph encountered in the main construction is asymmetric.
On Unavoidable Faces of High-Dimensional Polytopes
Kalai's cube--simplex conjecture asserts that for all positive integers $\ell,k$, there is an integer $f(\ell,k)$ such that every polytope of dimension at least $f(\ell,k)$ has either a simplex $\ell$-face or a cube $k$-face; let $f_s(\ell,k)$ denote the threshold restricted to simple polytopes. Finiteness of $f(\ell,k)$ is known only for $\ell,k \leq 2$. In addition, Kalai proved that $f_s(2,k) \leq 2k^2$. Here we prove that $f_s(\ell,k)$ is finite for all $\ell \geq 2$ and $k \geq 3$, the first such result beyond $\ell = 2$, with $f_s(2,k) \leq 2k^2-1$ and $f_s(\ell,k) \leq \tfrac{1}{2}k^2\ell\,2^k$ for $\ell \geq 3$. In the opposite direction, we obtain the lower bounds $f(\ell,k) \geq (5\lfloor \ell/2 \rfloor + (\ell \bmod 2) - 1)(k-1)+1$ and $f_s(\ell,k) \geq \max\{4,\,2(\ell-1)\}(k-1)+1$. A companion question asks for the minimum possible size of a 3-face within a higher-dimensional polytope. Meisinger, Kleinschmidt and Kalai proved that every rational $d$-polytope with $d \geq 9$ has a $3$-face with fewer than $78$ vertices or fewer than $78$ facets. Here we improve their bound: every convex polytope of dimension at least $15$ has a $3$-face with at most $13$ facets. One step of our proof requires an explicit exact rational certificate or identity on flag numbers. This certificate is computed using linear programming.

Shannon's problem on the monotonicity of entropy and a Conjecture of Tao
Let $X_1,X_2,\ldots$ be i.i.d. finitely supported random variables in a torsion-free abelian group, and write $S_k=X_1+\cdots+X_k$, and $H(S_k)$ is the Shannon entropy $S_k$, for all $k \ge 1$. We prove that, for every fixed $n\geq1$, \[ H(S_{n+1})-H(S_n) \geq \frac12\log\frac{n+1}{n} -o_{H(X_1)\to\infty}(1), \] uniformly over the ambient group and the input law. This proves a conjecture of Tao [29] in 2010.

Two-basepoint Terwilliger algebras and the quantum symmetry of prime-order circulants
Which vertex-transitive graphs of prime order have quantum symmetry? The question of Banica, Bichon and Chenevier is open in the dense regime of Paley graphs, where coherent-algebra methods give no information. To each such graph we attach a two-basepoint Terwilliger algebra of its cyclotomic scheme and study the module it generates from the basepoints: fullness forces the quantum permutation algebra to be commutative, and the module admits no intermediate state, containing either exactly two point masses or all $p$ of them. One point mass, captured at any depth, therefore suffices, and Chassaniol's orbital criterion is the depth-one case. Three consequences follow. A sharp counting argument replaces the Banica--Bichon--Chenevier threshold $p>6^{\varphi(k)}$ by the quadratic bound $p>(k-1)(k-2)+2$, where $k$ is the type. Four certificates, each a short list of additions modulo $p$, settle $C_{31}(2,4,8,15)$ and $C_{41}(4,10,16,18)$, the two graphs left open by Chassaniol, and complete the classification for type at most $10$ without machine assistance. An exact computation extends the dichotomy ``quantum symmetry if and only if complete or empty'' to all prime orders $p\le250$, settling the Paley graphs $P_{p}$ with $p\le241$, the first beyond $P_{17}$. What remains is the capture of a single explicit vector: the midpoint $2^{-1}$ of the two basepoints.

Prime and Touchard Congruences of Mixed-Type Bell Numbers
This paper establishes a comprehensive combinatorial and arithmetic framework for mixed Stirling and mixed Bell numbers, bridging partition structures, Touchard polynomials, and prime-power congruences. Furthermore, we develop to $p$-adic valuation theory, proving prime-power Touchard congruences and higher-order modulo-$p^2$ refinements that generalize classical arithmetic properties of combinatorial sequences.

A requested analytic proof of an identity of Dixit, Kumar, and Srivastava
Recently Dixit, Kumar, and Srivastava investigated what they called Rascoe and non-Rascoe partitions. These are defined to be the set of distinct partitions where the length of the partition is a part of the partition and is not a part respectively. In this note we provide a $q$-series theoretic proof of two identities regarding the generating function for unrestricted Rascoe and non-Rascoe partitions fulfilling a request of Dixit, Kumar, and Srivastava. We also prove a conjecture of Beck relating non-Rascoe partitions and the rank of a partition.

We investigate the filtration structure of the skein algebra induced by the (quantum) trace map. Furthermore, we give another explanation for these counting polynomials in terms of restricted-growth words.

Strengthening Recursive Constructions for Zero-Error Shannon Capacity
The exact Shannon capacity is unknown for every odd cycle beyond the five-cycle $C_5$, making odd cycles a central open problem in zero-error information theory. Improving the known lower bounds requires constructing large independent sets in strong powers of these graphs. Recent AI-assisted work has produced a rapid sequence of improvements: building on the construction of Itty et al., Gao developed a recursive product construction for combining structured independent sets, and Buys, Polak, and Zuiddam (BPZ) subsequently strengthened this through a richer recursion framework. We continue this line of AI-assisted exploration and introduce a heterogeneous refinement of these constructions. The central observation is that the usefulness of an intermediate construction depends not only on the size of its current main independent set, but also on the auxiliary structure it carries into subsequent recursion. Consequently, different parts of that auxiliary structure need not use the same independent set, and different occurrences in a recursion need not use the same intermediate representation. We formalize this for Gao's binary product and derive explicit propagation rules showing how heterogeneous choices strengthen the resulting gadget while leaving its current code size unchanged, then extend the principle to the more general BPZ framework, tailoring constructions to the distinct roles they play within the recursion. Applying these refinements to the seven-cycle $C_7$, we obtain an independent set in $C_7^{\boxtimes 500}$ yielding $Θ(C_7)\ge 3.25883262\ldots$, improving the best known lower bound. Beyond the numerical gain, the results illustrate a general principle for recursive zero-error constructions: intermediate structures with the same dimension and current code size can have different downstream value depending on where and how they are used in the recursion.
Unfolding Overlaps of the Exceptional Regular Polytopes
We find explicit ridge unfoldings of the three exceptional 4D polytopes (24-cell, 120-cell, 600-cell) that result in overlaps of their facets. These failures bring an end to the full classification of regular polytopes with the all-net property.
Vertex-transitive strongly regular graphs in the switching class of doubly transitive two-graphs
Let $G$ be a permutation group that acts $2$-transitively on the finite set $V$ and let $\mathcal{T}=(V,T)$ be a two-graph whose automorphism group contains $G$. In this paper, we classify those strongly regular graphs $Γ$ with vertex set $V$ whose automorphism group is a transitive maximal subgroup of $G$ and whose associated two-graph is $\mathcal{T}$. In doing so, we obtain a new family of vertex-transitive strongly regular graphs whose associated two-graph arises from $PΣL(2,q)$.

An Improvement to the Upper Bound for Marton's Covering Conjecture
Marton's covering conjecture studies finite sets in high-dimensional binary spaces whose pairwise sums create relatively few new elements. It predicts that every such set can be described efficiently by shifted copies of one linear subspace of comparable size. Gowers, Green, Manners, and Tao [GGMT25] proved the conjecture with exponent $12$. Liao [L24] improved the exponent to $9$. We improve it further to $8.873$.

Perfect state transfer on Cayley graphs over dihedral groups: A complete and practical characterization
Perfect state transfer on graphs has attracted extensive attention due to its application in quantum information and quantum computation. Explicit characterizations of connection sets admitting perfect state transfer in Cayley graphs are rare and, so far, are known only for a few abelian Cayley graphs. In this paper, we characterize the conjugation-closed connection sets of connected Cayley graphs over dihedral groups that admit perfect state transfer. By applying Ramanujan sums, Möbius inversion, and arguments based on the $p$-adic exponential valuation of rational numbers, we convert the eigenvalue constraints imposed by perfect state transfer into explicit structural conditions on the connection set. This yields a complete and practical characterization, which gives an effective criterion for recognizing and constructing such Cayley graphs and also determines the exact minimum perfect state transfer time.

An Improved Bound for Smith's Longest Cycles Conjecture via a Forbidden Subdivision
Smith's conjecture asserts that in every $k$-connected graph with $k\geq 2$, any two longest cycles intersect in at least $k$ vertices. In this work, we establish an $Ω(k^{8/11})$ bound for this conjecture, improving upon the $Ω(k^{2/3})$ bound of Ma and Zhao. Our proof combines a Ramsey theoretic refinement of the traditional Turán-type approach with computer search.

Maximal anti-Ramsey problems for posets
We study the forbidden poset analog of the maximal anti-Ramsey problem introduced for graphs by Burr, Erd\H os, Graham, and Sós. For integers $m\le 2^n$ and poset $P=(P,\preceq)$, we introduce $\mathrm{ar_m}(n,m,P)$ (and $\mathrm{ar^*_m}(n,m,P)$) to denote the minimum integer $k$ such that there exists a family $\mathcal{F}\subseteq 2^{[n]}$ with $|\mathcal{F}|=m$ and a coloring $\mathcal{F}\rightarrow [k]$ with all weak (strong) copies of $P$ being rainbow. As long as there exist $P$-free families of size $m$, these parameters equal 1. It is known that the largest size $La(n,P)$ ($La^*(n,P)$) of weak (strong) $P$-free families has order of magnitude $Θ(\binom{n}{\lfloor n/2\rfloor})$ unless $P$ is the antichain $A_k$ on $k$ elements. In this paper we study $\mathrm{ar_m}(n,m,P)$ and $\mathrm{ar^*_m}(n,m,P)$ in two regimes of $m$. We determine the asymptotics of these parameters for all posets $P$ when $m=2^n$. We also consider the case $m=Θ(\binom{n}{\lfloor n/2\rfloor})$. It is shown that for any connected poset $P$ and integer $k$, there exist integers $m_{P,k}$ and $m^*_{P,k}$ such that to color the middle $k$ layers of the Boolean lattice with all weak or strong copies of $P$ being rainbow, one needs $Θ(n^{m_{P,k}})$ or $Θ(n^{m^*_{P,k}})$ colors. For tree posets $T$, one has $m_{T,k}=m^*_{T,k}$. We conjecture that for any tree poset $T$, and positive real $\varepsilon$, $\mathrm{ar_m}(n,m,T),\mathrm{ar^*_m}(n,m,T)=Ω(n^{m_{T,k}})$ holds provided $m\ge (k-1+\varepsilon)\binom{n}{\lfloor n/2\rfloor}$. We prove our conjecture on $\mathrm{ar_m}(n,m,T)$ for an infinite class of tree posets.
Edge codes constructed from unicyclic graphs
Jaramillo-Velez recently introduced edge codes, a new class of toric evaluation codes constructed from the edges of a (hyper)graph $\mathcal{H}$. In the case that $\mathcal{H}$ is a tree, Jaramillo-Velez computed both the minimum distance and the weight distribution of the associated code. In this paper, we study edge codes associated to unicyclic graphs. Our most striking result is that computing the parameters of these codes is subtle in the case that the induced cycle has an even length because these values will depend on certain conditions regarding the length of the cycle and the size of the base field.

Fast robbers on abelian Cayley graphs and digraphs
We study the fast-robber version of the Cops and Robbers game on finite strongly connected abelian Cayley digraphs, including undirected Cayley graphs as the symmetric case. For bounded out-degree $D$ we show that $c_{1,\infty}(Γ)=O_D(n^{1-1/D})$, improving to $O_D(n^{1-2/D})$ in the undirected case. Further, we show uniform sublinear bounds in broader slowly growing degree regimes.

The Multicolour Size--Ramsey Number of an Even Cycle
We determine the $k$-colour size--Ramsey number of even cycles up to absolute constant factors. For every $k\ge2$ and every even $n\ge100\log k$, \[ \widehat R_k(C_n)=Θ(k^2\log k)n. \] The lower bound follows from the corresponding result of Beke, Li and Sahasrabudhe for paths, while our upper bound improves the previous best estimate $O(k^{34}n)$ of Javadi, Kohayakawa and Miralaei.

On high-girth layered graphs of positive Turán density in a hypercube
For a graph $H$, let $\operatorname{ex}(Q_n, H)$ be the largest number of edges in a subgraph of the hypercube $Q_n$ of dimension $n$ that contains no subgraph isomorphic to $H$. The Turán density of $H$ in a hypercube, denoted $π_\square(H)$, is defined as $\lim_{n\rightarrow \infty} \operatorname{ex}(Q_n, H)/|E(Q_n)|$. Determining $π_\square(H)$ remains a widely open question for general $H$. Conlon found a large class of graphs with zero Turán density in a hypercube. In this note, we address the case when $π_{\square} (H)>0$. If a graph $H$ is not embeddable in an edge-layer of a hypercube, then $π_{\square} (H)\geq 1/2$, as can be seen by taking every other edge layer of $Q_n$. Among the layered graphs, the only ones known to have positive Turán density in a hypercube are graphs containing cycles of length $6$ or $10$. We show that, for every $g \geq 3$, there is a layered graph of girth at least $g$ whose Turán density in a hypercube is at least $1/2$.

Second Order Zarankiewicz Number
We introduce the \emph{second order Zarankiewicz number} $z_2(m,n)$, defined as the maximum SOS rank of an $m \times n$ irreducible double simple biquadratic form. We also introduce the recursive-line parameter $z_{RL}(m,n)$, obtained by keeping $(S)$ and excluding $(W1),(W2),(W2')$, and requiring the strengthened recursive rectangle certificate $(RW3^+)$. The unconditional hierarchy is \[ \operatorname{BSR}(m,n) \ge z_2(m,n) \ge z_{RL}(m,n) \ge z_{wL}(m,n) \ge z(m,n). \] We exhibit an explicit $5\times 4$ irreducible form with SOS rank $13$, whereas $z_{wL}(5,4)=12$, proving $z_2(5,4)>z_{wL}(5,4)$. The construction violates $(W3)$ yet remains irreducible through recursive rectangle identities. We formalize this mechanism as $(RW3)$, then strengthen it by adjoining complementary-pair checking to obtain $(RW3^+)$, which is strictly weaker than literal $(W3)$ on the common weak ambient class. Exact search gives $z_{RL}(5,4)=13>12=z_{wL}(5,4)$. The three-column equality pattern $z_{RL}(m,3)=z_{wL}(m,3)$ is refuted by a certified construction at $(10,3)$, giving $z_{RL}(10,3)\ge 20>19=z_{wL}(10,3)$. On the $7\times 7$ benchmark, $(RW3)$ accepts the weak optimum $28$, certifies seven one-edge extensions to total $29$, and a greedy search reaches $31$, so $z_{RL}(7,7)\ge 31>28=z_{wL}(7,7)$. Finally, along the complete-graph incidence family, we prove an unconditional cubic asymptotic separation: \[ z_2\!\left(\binom{N}{2},N\right)-z_{wL}\!\left(\binom{N}{2},N\right)\ge \left(\frac{1}{16}-o(1)\right)N^3. \] Thus the gap between the second-order and weak frameworks is not only a finite-dimensional phenomenon but persists asymptotically.

The Homotopy Types of the Independence and Perfect Matching Complex of Möbius Ladder Graph
The independence complex and the perfect matching complex of a graph are simplicial complexes encoding, respectively, its independent sets and perfect matchings. Determining the homotopy types and other topological properties of these complexes is, in general, a difficult problem, and explicit descriptions are known only for relatively restricted classes of graphs, typically possessing substantial combinatorial regularity or symmetry. Although these complexes have been extensively investigated for several families of graphs, including square grid graphs, comparatively little is known for other natural families of highly symmetric graphs. In this article, we determine the homotopy types of the independence complex and the perfect matching complex of the Möbius ladder graphs $M_{2n}$. Möbius ladder graphs form a natural and highly symmetric family of cubic graphs obtained from a $2n$-cycle by joining pairs of opposite vertices. We prove that the homotopy type of the independence complex $\operatorname{Ind}(M_{2n})$ depends periodically on $n$ modulo $4$: for $n=4k$, it is homotopy equivalent to $\mathbb{S}^{2k-1}$; for $n=4k+2$, it is homotopy equivalent to a wedge of three copies of $\mathbb{S}^{2k}$; and for $n=4k+1$ or $4k+3$, it is homotopy equivalent to $\mathbb{S}^{2k}$. We further determine the homotopy type of the perfect matching complex $\mathcal{M}_p(M_{2n})$. For even $n$, it is homotopy equivalent to a wedge of two copies of $\mathbb{S}^{(n-2)/2}$, while for odd $n$ its homotopy type depends periodically on $n$ modulo $6$. Thus, our results provide explicit descriptions of two fundamental simplicial complexes associated with an important family of highly symmetric cubic graphs.

A Full-Sequence Quantitative Gap Between the Chromatic and Cochromatic Numbers of a Random Graph
Let $ζ(G)$ denote the minimum number of parts in a partition of $V(G)$ in which every part induces either a clique or an independent set. Erdős and Gimbel asked whether, for $G_n\sim G(n,1/2)$, the difference $χ(G_n)-ζ(G_n)$ tends to infinity with high probability. We resolve this problem along the full sequence $n\to\infty$ and prove that $\mathbb P(χ(G_n)-ζ(G_n)\ge ((\log 2)^2/4)\log(200/153)\,n/(\log n)^3)\to1$. This gives a lower bound at the conjectured scale $n/(\log n)^3$. We also obtain a phase-resolved refinement: if $δ_n$ is the fractional part of the standard independence-number center, then the coefficient may be replaced by $(\log 2)^2A_4(δ_n)/4-o(1)$, where $A_4$ is explicit, continuous, nonconstant, and satisfies $A_4(δ)>\log(200/153)$ for every $δ\in[0,1]$. The proof uses signed cocoloring profiles supported on four consecutive class sizes and remains uniform across jumps of the natural class-size cutoff. An exact signed-overlap identity separates local cell rewards from a binary cycle-space factor. A canonical decomposition into high cells and a capped residual matching, together with an endpoint-table comparison and an injective restriction of residual even edge sets, yields the required second-moment bound. A bounded-differences argument then amplifies the resulting rare signed witness to a high-probability cocoloring.
Cycle-Structure Generating Functions for Special Breakpoint Graphs
Breakpoint graphs originate in comparative genomics, where their alternating cycles encode relationships between genomes. We study a constrained class of three-colored breakpoint graphs associated with permutations and develop cycle-refined generating functions for two extremal families. These families have a natural topological interpretation: their canonical surfaces are, respectively, the sphere and the projective plane. The spherical family is characterized by noncrossing configurations, while the projective-plane family admits a different decomposition involving a distinguished family of Möbius ladders. The resulting generating-function equations retain the full cycle structure but nevertheless admit substantial reductions. This leads to explicit Catalan-weighted evaluations, polynomiality results for refined cycle statistics, and a connection between a natural diagonal specialization and noncrossing trees. The two topological families exhibit markedly different combinatorial mechanisms, providing complementary examples of how local transformations of breakpoint graphs can control refined permutation enumerations. As a further application, the same Catalan-weighted sums arise in asymptotic unitary-Weingarten expansions for entanglement of random Gaussian states in linear optics. The combinatorial results determine the leading and constant-order moment polynomials entering the Rényi entropy expansion, with the projective-plane contribution giving the finite-size constant correction.

Kashiwara--Nakashima tableaux, Gelfand--Tsetlin patterns, and quantum symmetric pairs
Kashiwara--Nakashima tableaux and Gelfand--Tsetlin patterns of orthogonal type are famous as combinatorial models of the finite-dimensional irreducible representations of the special orthogonal Lie algebras $\mathfrak{so}_N$. The former is constructed based on the representation theory of quantum groups, especially the theory of crystals, while the latter based on the branching rule for $(\mathfrak{so}_N,\mathfrak{so}_{N-1})$. In the present paper, we construct a natural bijection between them by means of the representation theory of quantum symmetric pairs corresponding to $(\mathfrak{so}_N,\mathfrak{so}_{N-1})$.

Shifted Macdonald Polynomials and the $(q,t)$-Deformed Goulden--Jackson Product
In a preceding article, we introduced stable symmetric series encoding simultaneously the normalized conjugacy classes of all symmetric groups. The same rational series remain stable for the Jack-deformed Goulden--Jackson product. We investigate their two-parameter Macdonald analogue. Starting from the $(q,t)$-deformed class product (dual to the coproduct diagonal on the $J$-basis), we construct the unique infinite series whose multiplication realizes any shifted Macdonald eigenvalue. In contrast with the classical and Jack cases, this transform is no longer multiplication by a fixed explicit series. We identify it with a composition of a Cauchy multiplication, the integral nabla operator, and a simple diagonal operator. We then determine the series realizing the Nazarov--Sklyanin operators $A^{(k)}$, derive a single generating series for all column partitions, and compare our construction with the Macdonald characters and Theta operators of Ben Dali and D'Adderio.

On the structure of graphs with given odd girth and large algebraic connectivity
A classical result of Andrásfai, Erdős, and Sós states that every $n$-vertex graph with odd girth at least $2k+1$ and minimum degree larger than $\frac{2n}{2k+1}$ is bipartite. Rather than imposing a minimum-degree condition, in this paper we investigate conditions on algebraic connectivity that force graphs of given odd girth to have a simple structure. The algebraic connectivity of a graph $G$, denoted by $μ_2(G)$, is the second smallest eigenvalue of its Laplacian matrix. Our main results are as follows. 1. Every $n$-vertex triangle-free graph $G$ with $μ_2(G)\geq \frac{n}{3}$ is bipartite. Moreover, the constant $\frac{1}{3}$ is asymptotically best possible. 2. For $k\geq 3$, every $n$-vertex graph $G$ of odd girth at least $2k+1$ with $μ_2(G)>\frac{4n}{6k-1}$ is bipartite. 3. For $k\geq 22$, every $n$-vertex graph $G$ of odd girth at least $2k+1$ with $μ_2(G)>\frac{3456n}{k^3}$ is bipartite. Moreover, the term $k^{-3}$ is asymptotically best possible.

Exponential random graph models with soft clique constraints
Let $r\geq3$ be fixed, and let $\mathbf{G}_n$ be the set of all simple graphs with vertex set $[n]=\{1,\ldots,n\}$. We consider an exponential random graph model which gives higher probability to $G \in \mathbf{G}_n$ than to $H \in \mathbf{G}_n$ if $G$ has fewer $r$-cliques than $H$. But all graphs in $\mathbf{G}_n$ have positive probability. The degree to which graphs with fewer $r$-cliques are given higher probability is determined by a positive weight $w$. We prove that, asymptotically almost surely as $n \to \infty$, a random graph from $\mathbf{G}_n$ has a vertex partition into $r-1$ parts of roughly equal size, the density of edges between the parts is close to $1/2$, and for every $\varepsilon > 0$ the density of edges within any part is less than $\varepsilon$. The asymptotic structural properties are independent of the weight $w$ as long as it is positive. We also extend the result to the context of several clique sizes, each one with its own weight.

The Cayley Completion of a Graph
A finite connected graph is rarely a Cayley graph. We measure how far it is from being one: given $G$ with $n$ vertices and $m$ edges, how few edges must be added, or added and deleted, before the result is a Cayley graph of an abelian group of order $n$ on the same vertex set? This defines two invariants, the completion number $γ^{+}$ (additions only) and the Cayley edit distance $γ_{\triangle}$ (both), each normalized by $m$. We show that deciding the edit version is NP-complete already for a fixed cyclic host, by a reduction from Hamiltonian Cycle in which the edit cost of a labeling is $n+m-2k$ when it realizes a longest path with $k$ edges; the optimal cost is $m-n+2pp(G)$, bounded in polynomial time by the matching number. We prove that irregularity alone forces $γ^{+}(G)\ge nΔ^{*}/(2m)-1$, where $Δ^{*}$ is the least $d\geΔ$ with $nd$ even, computable in linear time from the degree sequence; we characterize equality exactly. It is attained on the star, where $γ^{+}(K_{1,q})=(q-1)/2$ and the star maximizes $γ^{+}$, while $γ_{\triangle}$ stays bounded by an absolute constant. We determine paths and grids exactly, $γ^{+}(P_n)=γ^{+}(P_n\,\square\,P_n)=1/(n-1)$, and show $γ_{\triangle}(K_{1,q})\to 2$, not the $3/2$ suggested by the additive case. We report an exhaustive certified census of all $995$ connected graphs on at most seven vertices. The degree bound is attained on $89.4\%$ and the two invariants separate strictly on $84.7\%$, though both rates vary sharply with order: attainment $100\%,100\%,84.8\%,89.7\%$ and separation $0\%,61.9\%,73.2\%,87.7\%$ for $n=4,5,6,7$, dominated by the $853$ graphs on seven vertices. The star uniquely maximizes both. Edit count and the bi-Lipschitz distortion of the completed host are independent, moving oppositely on stars and paths.Data and certificates at doi:10.5281/zenodo.21852006.

Counting solutions to quadratic forms in eight prime variables of off-diagonal rank $3$
In this note we count the number of solutions to a non-degenerate quadratic form in eight prime variables of off-diagonal rank $3$. It is a continuation of work by L. Zhao, who counted solutions to forms in at least nine variables, by B. Green, who counted solutions to 'generic' (which implies off-diagonal rank $4$) forms in eight variables, and by J. Dobrowolski, who counted solutions to forms in eight variables of off-diagonal rank at most $2$.
Breaking the Exponential Barrier: The First Polynomial-Time Algorithm for the Győri-Lovász Theorem
We give the first polynomial-time algorithm, after half a century, for the celebrated Győri-Lovász theorem, which resolved a conjecture of Frank (1975). The theorem, one of the simplest existential theorems to explain, states that every $k$-connected graph can be partitioned into $k$ disjoint connected subgraphs of arbitrary prescribed positive sizes. This is a fundamental structural result with broad applications, such as flexible allocation of connected subnetworks of prescribed sizes in sufficiently connected cloud infrastructures. While Lovász (1977) gave a highly non-constructive proof for a stronger directed version using algebraic topology, Győri's original constructive proof (1976) requires exponential time. Despite more than 50 years of effort, no polynomial-time algorithm was known even for $k>4$. Determining the computational complexity of the Győri-Lovász theorem---whether it admits even a sub-exponential-time algorithm or is computationally hard (in particular, PLS-complete or PPAD)---has remained one of the central open problems in algorithmic graph theory. In this paper, we finally resolve this long-standing problem by a fundamentally new proof of the existential theorem via introducing the novel concept of \emph{flow-essential assignment}, which genuinely marries matching and cut structures and yields the first polynomial-time constructive algorithm for the Győri-Lovász theorem. In fact, we obtain a polynomial-time algorithm for Lovász's stronger directed version, whose proof was non-constructive even for DAGs; for DAGs, we further obtain a near-linear-time algorithm. We also develop polynomial-time algorithms for weighted generalizations where the seminal work of Chen, Kleinberg, Lovász, Rajaraman, Sundaram, and Vetta (JACM'07) on confluent flows established only existential non-constructive results.

Asymptotic Bounds on Generalized Covering Radii of Binary Primitive BCH Codes
Fix integers $e\ge2$ and $r\ge1$. In this paper we study the $r$-th generalized covering radius $ρ_r\left(BCH(e,m)\right)$ of the binary primitive $e$-error-correcting BCH code $BCH(e,m)$. By using an algebraic-geometric reformulation of the covering problem together with an explicit Lang-Weil estimate, we prove that \[ρ_r\bigl(\BCH(e,m)\bigr)\le(r+1)e-1\] for all sufficiently large $m$. For $e\ge7$, this improves a recent result of Belinsky--Zabokritskiy. Our proof gives a substantially simpler geometric approach to this upper bound. In particular it implies that \[ρ_2\bigl(BCH(e,m)\bigr)=3e-1\] for all sufficiently large $m$. Previously it was only known that \[ρ_2\bigl(\BCH(e,m)\bigr) \in \left\{3e-1,3e\right\}\] for all sufficiently large $m$.

A $(q,t)$-Overview of $q$-Analogs
By a simple homogenization process, one may turn a $q$-analog into a symmetric $(q,t)$-analog. Although simple, this bijective correspondence makes many concepts and identities become more natural, and proofs follow readily from classical properties of symmetric functions in two variables. A more intricate non-homogeneous extension is also developed. We illustrate this approach, revisiting recent developments in the study of $γ$-positivity, Lucas analogues, and the monoid of Cyclotomic generating functions. This also leads naturally to new constructions and conjectures. We further explore other avenues of investigations, included graded and equivariant $γ$-positivity and $γ$-anti-positivity (also known as alternatingly $γ$-positive).

The toughness of random graphs
For a connected and non-complete graph $G$ of order $n$, its toughness is defined as \[ τ(G)=\min\bigl\{|S|/c(G-S):S\subseteq V(G),\ c(G-S)>1\bigr\}, \] where $c(G-S)$ denotes the number of components of $G-S$. Let $α(G)$ denote the independence number of $G$. An elementary bound on toughness is $$τ(G)\leq\frac{n-α(G)}{α(G)}.$$ Let $G(n,p)$ be the binomial random graph on vertex set $[n]$. Set $a=α(G(n,p))$. In this paper, we prove that \[ τ(G(n,p))=\frac{n-a}{a}+o(1) \] with high probability. Moreover, we show that there is a sequence $n_m\to\infty$ such that with high probability, \[ τ(G(n_{m},p)) \le\frac{n_{m}-a}a-\frac{1}{a}. \]

Structural Corrections to the Bethe Approximation of the Permanent
We study deterministic approximation algorithms for the permanent of a nonnegative matrix through the Bethe permanent, an approximation computable in polynomial time. The tight analysis of Anari and Rezaei gives a universal comparison between the permanent and the Bethe permanent within a factor $(\sqrt 2)^n$. The simple example of the unweighted $4$-cycle $C_4$ (or a union of disjoint $C_4$'s) shows that this bound is tight. We show that such $4$-cycle obstructions can be identified and exploited algorithmically. Given a Bethe optimizer, our algorithm identifies nearly isolated weighted $2\times2$ blocks and peels off a vertex-disjoint family of them. If the total weighted correction is large, we can improve the Bethe approximation; if it is small, we show that the Bethe permanent is within a factor of $(\sqrt2 - \varepsilon)^n$ of the truth. Combining these facts, we obtain a deterministic polynomial time $(\sqrt2-\varepsilon)^n$-approximation algorithm for the permanent of an arbitrary nonnegative $n\times n$ matrix, where $\varepsilon>0$ is some absolute constant.

Properties of the $\mathcal V$-Monoid of Weighted Leavitt Path Algebras
For a row-finite weighted graph $(E,w)$, Preusser showed that the monoid $\mathcal{V}(L_k(E,w))$ of finitely generated projective modules over the weighted Leavitt path algebra $L_k(E,w)$ is isomorphic to a combinatorially defined weighted graph monoid $\mathcal{M}(E,w)$. We study two structural properties of $\mathcal{M}(E,w)$: confluence and cancellativity. We introduce a reduction system on the free commutative monoid presenting $\mathcal{M}(E,w)$, obtain sufficient conditions for non-confluence by constructing explicit non-confluent triples, and provide a complete confluence characterization for certain classes of weighted graphs. Turning to cancellativity, we work within Preusser's class of weighted graphs satisfying Condition (LPA), for which $L_k(E,w)$ is isomorphic to an unweighted Leavitt path algebra $L_k(F)$ via a two-step construction. We introduce an auxiliary graph associated to the intermediate step of this construction and use it to give a graph-theoretic characterization of when $\mathcal{M}(E,w)$ is cancellative. Finally, under Condition (LPA), we show that Preusser's construction upgrades to a graded isomorphism $L_k(E,w) \cong_{\operatorname{gr}} L_k(F)$ with respect to the standard $\mathbb{Z}^{λ(E,w)}$-grading of weighted Leavitt path algebras, yielding $\mathcal{V}^{\operatorname{gr}}(L_k(E,w)) \cong \mathcal{V}^{\operatorname{gr}}(L_k(F))$ as $\mathbb{Z}^{λ(E,w)}$-monoids.

Extensions of Hindman's theorem via finite colorings of topological groups
We study the partition regular properties of topological groups, proving several extensions of Hindman theorem where monochromatic sets of finite sums are required to satisfy additional topological constraints. In particular, our results imply that for every nowhere dense set $C \subseteq \mathbb{R}^n$, there exists an open set $P \supseteq C$ such that for any finite coloring of $\mathbb{Q}^n \setminus P$, there is a family $\mathcal{A}$ of sequences in $\mathbb{Q}^n \setminus P$ which satisfies the following properties: (i) for each $A\in\mathcal A$, the set $\operatorname{FS}(A)$ of finite sums of $A$ is a closed discrete subset of $\mathbb R^n$; (ii) the set $\bigcup_{A\in\mathcal A}\operatorname{FS}(A)$ is monochromatic; and (iii) the set $\bigcup_{A\in\mathcal A}\operatorname{FS}(A)$ is dense in an open unbounded subset of $\mathbb R^n$.

Bang vectors in the real polarization problem: The exact dimensional range
We determine the exact dimensional range in which a normalized longest signed sum, which we call a Bang vector, always satisfies the real polarization inequality: this prescription is universally valid if and only if \(n\leq 14\). For every \(n\geq 15\) we construct \(n\) unit vectors whose all-positive sum is, up to global sign, the unique longest signed sum, while its normalized direction has polarization product smaller than \(n^{-n/2}\). The counterexamples are given by a single explicit family, and for the same configurations we exhibit nonmaximal signed sums whose normalized directions do satisfy the polarization bound.
Colorful Exponential Random Graph Models
In this paper, we initiate the study of colored exponential random graph models (ERGMs), a class of exponential-family models for networks with multiple types of edge relations. Using the framework of probability graphons, we first derive a variational representation for the limiting free energy, whose maximizers determine the asymptotic structure of typical samples from the model. Then we identify several general families of colored ERGMs exhibiting replica symmetry, where the variational problem has constant maximizers and the model asymptotically concentrates on product colorings with independent edges. For general colored ERGMs, we derive Euler-Lagrange fixed-point equations for the variational maximizers, which in turn yield a general high-temperature uniqueness criterion. In the complementary zero-temperature regime, we establish a two-level selection principle: the leading energy term determines the ground states, while the lower-order energy terms, combined with entropy, act as a tie-breaker to determine the asymptotic zero-temperature structure of the model. We illustrate this principle through the induced wedge and rainbow triangle ERGMs. Both models have natural interpretations in multitype networks, and their zero-temperature limits exhibit interesting structures that connect to well-known results in extremal combinatorics. We further establish finite-temperature symmetry breaking for both these models and complement the rigorous results with numerical experiments.
