We study the spectrum of a family of algebras, the inhomogeneous Gaudin algebras, acting on the $n$-fold tensor representation $\mathbb{C}[x_1, \ldots, x_r]^{\otimes n}$ of the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{gl}_r$. We use the work of Halacheva-Kamnitzer-Rybnikov-Weekes to demonstrate that the Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence describes the behaviour of the spectrum as we move along special paths in the family. We apply the work of Mukhin-Tarasov-Varchenko, which proves that the rational Calogero-Moser phase space can be realised as a part of this spectrum, to relate this to behaviour at $t=0$ of rational Cherednik algebras of $\mathfrak{S}_n$. As a result, we confirm for symmetric groups a conjecture of Bonnafé-Rouquier which proposes an equality between the Calogero-Moser cells they defined and the well-known Kazhdan-Lusztig cells.

We define a type B analogue of the category of finite sets with surjections, and we study the representation theory of this category. We show that the opposite category is quasi-Grobner, which implies that submodules of finitely generated modules are again finitely generated. We prove that the generating functions of finitely generated modules have certain prescribed poles, and we obtain restrictions on the representations of type B Coxeter groups that can appear in such modules. Our main example is a module that categorifies the degree i Kazhdan-Lusztig coefficients of type B Coxeter arrangements.

Combinatorics of Kazhdan-Lusztig cells in affine type $A$ was originally developed by Lusztig, Shi, and Xi. Building on their work, Chmutov, Pylyavskyy, and Yudovina introduced the affine matrix-ball construction (abbreviated AMBC) which gives an analog of Robinson-Schensted correspondence for affine symmetric groups. An alternative approach to Kazhdan-Lusztig theory in affine type $A$ was developed by Blasiak in his work on catabolism. He introduced sign insertion algorithm and conjectured that if one fixes the two-sided cell, the recording tableau of sign insertion process determines uniquely and is determined uniquely by the left cell. In this paper we unite these two approaches by proving Blasiak's conjecture. In the process, we show that certain new operations we introduce called partial rotations connect the elements in the intersection of a left cell and a right cell. Lastly, we investigate the connection between Blasiak's sign insertion and the standardization map acting on the set of semi-standard Young tableaux defined by Lascoux and Schützenberger.

The goal of this paper is to show that valuation theory and Hopf theory are compatible on the class of generalized permutahedra. We prove that the Hopf structure $\mathbf{GP}^+$ on these polyhedra descends, modulo the inclusion-exclusion relations, to an indicator Hopf monoid $\mathbb{I}(\mathbf{GP}^+)$ of generalized permutahedra that is isomorphic to the Hopf monoid of weighted ordered set partitions. This quotient Hopf monoid $\mathbb{I}(\mathbf{GP}^+)$ is cofree. It is the terminal object in the category of Hopf monoids with polynomial characters; this partially explains the ubiquity of generalized permutahedra in the theory of Hopf monoids.
This Hopf theoretic framework offers a simple, unified explanation for many new and old valuations on generalized permutahedra and their subfamilies. Examples include, for matroids: the Chern-Schwartz-MacPherson cycles, Eur's volume polynomial, the Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomial, the motivic zeta function, and the Derksen-Fink invariant; for posets: the order polynomial, Poincaré polynomial, and poset Tutte polynomial; for generalized permutahedra: the universal Tutte character and the corresponding class in the Chow ring of the permutahedral variety.
We obtain several algebraic and combinatorial corollaries; for example: the existence of the valuative character group of $\mathbf{GP}^+$, and the indecomposability of a nestohedron into smaller nestohedra.
Singular Hodge theory for combinatorial geometries
We introduce the intersection cohomology module of a matroid and prove that it satisfies Poincaré duality, the hard Lefschetz theorem, and the Hodge-Riemann relations. As applications, we obtain proofs of Dowling and Wilson's Top-Heavy conjecture and the nonnegativity of the coefficients of Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials for all matroids.
Cellularity of the p-Canonical Basis for Symmetric Groups
For symmetric groups we show that the p-canonical basis can be extended to a cell datum for the Iwahori-Hecke algebra H and that the two-sided p-cell preorder coincides with the Kazhdan-Lusztig two-sided cell preorder. Moreover, we show that left (or right) p-cells inside the same two-sided p-cell for Hecke algebras of finite crystallographic Coxeter systems are incomparable (Property A).

We study classes determined by the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis of the Hecke algebra in the $K$-theory and hyperbolic cohomology theory of flag varieties. We first show that, in $K$-theory, the two different choices of Kazhdan-Lusztig bases produce dual bases, one of which can be interpreted as characteristic classes of the intersection homology mixed Hodge modules. In equivariant hyperbolic cohomology, we show that if the Schubert variety is smooth, then the class it determines coincides with the class of the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis; this was known as the Smoothness Conjecture. For Grassmannians, we prove that the classes of the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis coincide with the classes determined by Zelevinsky's small resolutions. These properties of the so-called KL-Schubert basis show that it is the closest existing analogue to the Schubert basis for hyperbolic cohomology; the latter is a very useful testbed for more general elliptic cohomologies.

We establish a formalism for working with incidence algebras of posets with symmetries, and we develop equivariant Kazhdan-Lusztig-Stanley theory within this formalism. This gives a new way of thinking about the equivariant Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomial and equivariant Z-polynomial of a matroid.

In analogy with the classical Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials for Coxeter groups, Elias, Proudfoot and Wakefield introduced the concept of Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials for matroids. It is known that both the classical Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials and the matroid Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials can be considered as special cases of the Kazhdan-Lusztig-Stanley polynomials for locally finite posets. In the framework of Kazhdan-Lusztig-Stanley polynomials, we study the inverse of Kazhdan-Lusztig-Stanley functions and define the inverse Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials for matroids. We also compute these polynomials for boolean matroids and uniform matroids. As an unexpected application of the inverse Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials, we obtain a new formula to compute the Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials for uniform matroids. Similar to the Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomial of a matroid, we conjecture that the coefficients of its inverse Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomial are nonnegative and log-concave.
Affine Springer Fibers and the Affine Matrix Ball Construction for Rectangular Type Nilpotents
In this paper, we study the affine Springer fiber $\mathcal{F} l_N$ in type $A$ for rectangular type semisimple nil-element $N$ and calculate the relative position between irreducible components. In particular, we use the affine matrix ball construction to show the relative position map is compatible with the Kazhdan-Lusztig cell structure, generalizing the work of Steinberg and van Leeuwen.

Let $\mathfrak S_{[i,j]}$ be the subgroup of the symmetric group $\mathfrak S_n$ generated by adjacent transpositions $(i,i+1), \dotsc, (j-1,j)$, assuming $1 \leq i < j \leq n$. We give a combinatorial rule for evaluating induced sign characters of the type-$A$ Hecke algebra $H_n(q)$ at all elements of the form $\sum_{w \in \mathfrak S_{[i,j]}} T_w$ and at all products of such elements. This includes evaluation at some elements $C'_w(q)$ of the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis.
A Combinatorial Formula for Kazhdan-Lusztig Polynomials of Sparse Paving Matroids

We prove the positivity of Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials for sparse paving matroids, which are known to be logarithmically almost all matroids, but are conjectured to be almost all matroids. The positivity follows from a remarkably simple combinatorial formula we discovered for these polynomials using skew young tableaux. This supports the conjecture that Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials for all matroids have non-negative coeffiecients. In special cases, such as uniform matroids, our formula has a nice combinatorial interpretation.

Webs are planar graphs with boundary that describe morphisms in a diagrammatic representation category for $\mathfrak{sl}_k$. They are studied extensively by knot theorists because braiding maps provide a categorical way to express link diagrams in terms of webs, producing quantum invariants like the well-known Jones polynomial. One important question in representation theory is to identify the relationships between different bases; coefficients in the change-of-basis matrix often describe combinatorial, algebraic, or geometric quantities (like, e.g., Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials). By "flattening" the braiding maps, webs can also be viewed as the basis elements of a symmetric-group representation.
In this paper, we define two new combinatorial structures for webs: band diagrams and their one-dimensional projections, shadows, that measure depths of regions inside the web. As an application, we resolve an open conjecture that the change-of-basis between the so-called Specht basis and web basis of this symmetric-group representation is unitriangular for $\mathfrak{sl}_3$-webs. We do this using band diagrams and shadows to construct a new partial order on webs that is a refinement of the usual partial order. In fact, we prove that for $\mathfrak{sl}_2$-webs, our new partial order coincides with the tableau partial order on webs studied by the authors and others. We also prove that though the new partial order for $\mathfrak{sl}_3$-webs is a refinement of the previously-studied tableau order, the two partial orders do not agree for $\mathfrak{sl}_3$.

We construct an explicit isomorphism between (truncations of) quiver Hecke algebras and Elias-Williamson's diagrammatic endomorphism algebras of Bott-Samelson bimodules. As a corollary, we deduce that the decomposition numbers of these algebras (including as examples the symmetric groups and generalised blob algebras) are tautologically equal to the associated $p$-Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials, provided that the characteristic is greater than the Coxeter number. We hence give an elementary and more explicit proof of the main theorem of Riche-Williamson's recent monograph and extend their categorical equivalence to cyclotomic Hecke algebras, thus solving Libedinsky-Plaza's categorical blob conjecture.

We refine an idea of Deodhar, whose goal is a counting formula for Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials. This is a consequence of a simple observation that one can use the solution of Soergel's conjecture to make ambiguities involved in defining certain morphisms between Soergel bimodules in characteristic zero (double leaves) disappear.

We describe an algorithm which pattern embeds, in the sense of Woo-Yong, any Bruhat interval of a symmetric group into an interval whose extremes lie in the same right Kazhdan-Lusztig cell. This apparently harmless fact has applications in finding examples of reducible associated varieties of $\mathfrak{sl}_n$-highest weight modules, as well as in the study of $W$-graphs for symmetric groups, and in comparing various bases of irreducible representations of the symmetric group or its Hecke algebra. For example, we are able to systematically produce many negative answers to a question from the 1980s of Borho-Brylinski and Joseph, which had been settled by Williamson via computer calculations only in 2014.

We discover a new property of the stochastic colored six-vertex model called flip-invariance. We use it to show that for a given collection of observables of the model, any transformation that preserves the distribution of each individual observable also preserves their joint distribution. This generalizes recent shift-invariance results of Borodin-Gorin-Wheeler. As limiting cases, we obtain similar statements for the Brownian last passage percolation, the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang equation, the Airy sheet, and directed polymers. Our proof relies on an equivalence between the stochastic colored six-vertex model and the Yang-Baxter basis of the Hecke algebra. We conclude by discussing the relationship of the model with Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials and positroid varieties in the Grassmannian.
A family of operators generating domino tableaux of a fixed shape and a decomposition of left cells into isotypic components
We exhibit a set of operators on pairs of domino tableaux of the same shape sending them to other such pairs with the same right tableau, in such a way that any two pairs with the same right tableau are conjugate by some composition of the operators. Using these operators we give explicit bases for the isotypic components of a classical Kazhdan-Lusztig left cell in terms of Kazhdan-Lusztig basis vectors.

Immanants are functions on square matrices generalizing the determinant and permanent. Kazhdan-Lusztig immanants, which are indexed by permutations, involve $q=1$ specializations of Type A Kazhdan-Lusztig polynomials, and were defined in (Rhoades-Skandera, 2006). Using results of (Haiman, 1993) and (Stembridge, 1991), Rhoades and Skandera showed that Kazhdan-Lusztig immanants are nonnegative on matrices whose minors are nonnegative. We investigate which Kazhdan-Lusztig immanants are positive on $k$-positive matrices (matrices whose minors of size $k \times k$ and smaller are positive). We show that the Kazhdan-Lusztig immanant indexed by $v$ is positive on $k$-positive matrices when $v$ avoids 1324 and 2143 and for all non-inversions $i<j$ of $v$, either $j-i \leq k$ or $v_j-v_i\leq k$. Our main tool is Lewis Carroll's identity.

Tangent spaces to Schubert varieties of type A were characterized by Lakshmibai and Seshadri. This result was extended to the other classical types by Lakshmibai. We give a uniform characterization of tangent spaces to Schubert varieties in cominuscule G/P. Our results extend beyond cominuscule G/P; they describe the tangent space to any Schubert variety in G/B at a point xB, where x is a cominuscule Weyl group element in the sense of Peterson. Our results also give partial information about the tangent space to any Schubert variety at any point. Our method is to describe the tangent spaces of Kazhdan-Lusztig varieties, and then recover results for Schubert varieties. Our proof uses a relationship between weights of the tangent space of a variety with torus action, and factors of the class of the variety in torus equivariant K-theory. The proof relies on a formula for Schubert classes in equivariant K-theory due to Graham and Willems, as well as a theorem on subword complexes due to Knutson and Miller.
