We study the holomorphic Euler characteristics of tautological sheaves on Hilbert schemes of points on surfaces. In particular, we establish the rationality of K-theoretic descendent series. Our approach is to control equivariant holomorphic Euler characteristics over the Hilbert scheme of points on the affine plane. To do so, we slightly modify a Macdonald polynomial identity of Mellit.

The purpose of this note is to introduce a new family of quasi-symmetric functions called LLT cumulants and discuss its properties. We define LLT cumulants using the algebraic framework for conditional cumulants and we prove that the Macdonald cumulant has an explicit positive expansion in terms of LLT cumulants of ribbon shapes, generalizing the classical decomposition of Macdonald polynomials. We also find a natural combinatorial interpretation of the LLT cumulant of a given directed graph as a weighted generating function of colorings of its subgraphs.
We use this graph theoretical framework to prove various positivity results. This includes monomial positivity, positivity in fundamental quasisymmetric functions and related positivity of the coefficients of Schur polynomials indexed by hook shapes. We also prove $e$-positivity for vertical-shape LLT cumulants, after the shift of variable $q \to q+1$, which refines a recent result of Alexandersson and Sulzgruber. All these results give evidence towards Schur-positivity of LLT cumulants, which we conjecture here. We prove that this conjecture implies Schur-positivity of Macdonald cumulants, and we give more evidence by proving the conjecture for LLT cumulants of melting lollipops that refines a recent result of Huh, Nam and Yoo.

Using the theory of Macdonald, Gordon showed that the graded characters of the simple modules for the restricted rational Cherednik algebra by Etingof and Ginzburg associated to the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_n$ are given by plethystically transformed Macdonald polynomials specialized at q=t. We generalize this to restricted rational Cherednik algebras of wreath product groups $C_\ell \wr \mathfrak{S}_n$ and prove that the corresponding characters are given by a specialization of the wreath Macdonald polynomials defined by Haiman.
Symmetric Functions and Rectangular Catalan Combinatorics
Symmetric functions provide one of the most efficient tools for combinatorial enumeration, in the context of objects that may be acted upon by permutations. Only assuming a basic knowledge of linear algebra, we introduce and describe the classical toolbox of symmetric functions, and give many examples of their uses. In particular, we present how classical formulas of enumerative combinatorics afford a natural generalization in terms of symmetric functions. We then rapidly present Macdonald symmetric functions and associated operators, to go on with the description of their relations to rectangular Catalan combinatorics. We also discuss the link with a realization of the elliptic Hall algebra, as an algebra of operators on symmetric functions.
Macdonald polynomials and operators and Catalan Combinatorics
Our main aim with these notes is to introduce the combinatorial and symmetric function tools that relate to the description of the Poincare polynomial of the triply graded Khovanov-Rozansky homology of torus links, a.k.a. the (reduced) superpolynomial of these links.

Relating three combinatorial formulas for type $A$ Whittaker functions
In this work we study the relationship between several combinatorial formulas for type $A$ spherical Whittaker functions. These are spherical functions on $p$-adic groups, which arise in the theory of automorphic forms. They depend on a parameter $t$, and are a specialization of Macdonald polynomials, and further specialize to Schur polynomials upon setting $t=0$. There are three types of formulas for these polynomials. The first formula is in terms of so-called alcove walks, works in arbitrary Lie type, and is derived from the Ram-Yip formula for Macdonald polynomials. The second one is in terms of certain fillings of Young diagrams, and is derived from, or is analogous to the Haglund-Haiman-Loehr formula for Macdonald polynomials. The third formula is in terms of the classical semistandard Young tableaux. We study the way in which each such formula is obtained from the previous one by combining terms $-$ a phenomenon called compression. No such results existed in the case of Whittaker functions.

The fusion ring for $\widehat{\mathfrak{su}}(n)_m$ Wess-Zumino-Witten conformal field theories is known to be isomorphic to a factor ring of the ring of symmetric polynomials presented by Schur polynomials. We introduce a deformation of this factor ring associated with eigenpolynomials for the elliptic Ruijsenaars difference operators. The corresponding Littlewood-Richardson coefficients are governed by a Pieri rule stemming from the eigenvalue equation. The orthogonality of the eigenbasis gives rise to an analog of the Verlinde formula. In the trigonometric limit, our construction recovers the refined $\widehat{\mathfrak{su}}(n)_m$ Wess-Zumino-Witten fusion ring associated with the Macdonald polynomials.
New structure on the quantum alcove model with applications to representation theory and Schubert calculus

The quantum alcove model associated to a dominant weight plays an important role in many branches of mathematics, such as combinatorial representation theory, the theory of Macdonald polynomials, and Schubert calculus. For a dominant weight, it is proved by Lenart-Lubovsky that the quantum alcove model does not depend on the choice of a reduced alcove path, which is a shortest path of alcoves from the fundamental one to its translation by the given dominant weight. This is established through quantum Yang-Baxter moves, which biject the objects of the model associated with two such alcove paths, and can be viewed as a generalization of jeu de taquin slides to arbitrary root systems. The purpose of this paper is to give a generalization of quantum Yang-Baxter moves to the quantum alcove model corresponding to an arbitrary weight, which was used to express a general Chevalley formula in the equivariant $K$-group of semi-infinite flag manifolds. The generalized quantum Yang-Baxter moves give rise to a "sijection" (bijection between signed sets), and are shown to preserve certain important statistics, including weights and heights. As an application, we prove that the generating function of these statistics does not depend on the choice of a reduced alcove path. Also, we obtain an identity for the graded characters of Demazure submodules of level-zero extremal weight modules over a quantum affine algebra, which can be thought of as a representation-theoretic analogue of the mentioned Chevalley formula. Other applications and some open problems involving "signed crystals" are discussed.
$q{\rm RS}t$: A probabilistic Robinson--Schensted correspondence for Macdonald polynomials (extended abstract)
We present a probabilistic generalization of the Robinson--Schensted correspondence in which a permutation maps to several different pairs of standard Young tableaux with nonzero probability. The probabilities depend on two parameters $q$ and $t$, and the correspondence gives a new proof of the squarefree part of the Cauchy identity for Macdonald polynomials. By specializing $q$ and $t$ in various ways, one recovers both the row and column insertion versions of the Robinson--Schensted correspondence, as well as several $q$- and $t$-deformations of row and column insertion which have been introduced in recent years in connection with integrable probability.

This paper is a supplement to Guo-Ram arXiv:2104.02942, containing examples, remarks and additional material that could be useful to researchers working with Type $GL_n$ Macdonald polynomials. In the course of our comparison of the alcove walk formula and the nonattacking fillings formulas for type $GL_n$ Macdonald polynomials we did many examples and significant analysis of the literature. In the preparation of Guo-Ram arXiv:2104.02942 it seemed sensible to produce a document with focus and this material was removed. This is paper resurrects and organizes that material, in hopes that others may also find it useful.

The paper compares (and reproves) the alcove walk and the nonattacking fillings formulas for type $GL_n$ Macdonald polynomials which were given in Haglund-Haiman-Loehr arXiv:math.CO/0601693, Alexandersson arXiv:1602.05153 and Ram-Yip arXiv:0803.1146. The "compression" relating the two formulas in this paper is the same as that of Lenart arXiv:0804.4716. We have reformulated it so that it holds without conditions and so that the proofs of the alcove walk formula and the nonattacking fillings formula are parallel. This reformulation highlights the role of the double affine Hecke algebra and Cherednik's intertwiners. An exposition of the type $GL_n$ double affine braid group, double affine Hecke algebra, and all definitions and proofs regarding Macdonald polynomials are provided to make this paper self contained.

In a preceding paper the theory of nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials taking values in modules of the Hecke algebra of type $A$ (Dunkl and Luque SLC 2012) was applied to such modules consisting of polynomials in anti-commuting variables, to define nonsymmetric Macdonald superpolynomials. These polynomials depend on two parameters $\left( q,t\right) $ and are defined by means of a Yang-Baxter graph. The present paper determines the values of a subclass of the polynomials at the special points $\left( 1,t,t^{2},\ldots\right) $ or$\left( 1,t^{-1},t^{-2},\ldots\right) $. The arguments use induction on the degree and computations with products of generators of the Hecke algebra. The resulting formulas involve $\left( q,t\right)$-hook products. Evaluations are also found for Macdonald superpolynomials having restricted symmetry and antisymmetry properties.

The Garsia--Haiman module is a bigraded $\mathfrak{S}_n$-module whose Frobenius image is a Macdonald polynomial. The method of orbit harmonics promotes an $\mathfrak{S}_n$-set $X$ to a graded polynomial ring. The orbit harmonics can be applied to prove cyclic sieving phenomena which is a notion that encapsulates the fixed-point structure of finite cyclic group action on a finite set. By applying this idea to the Garsia--Haiman module, we provide cyclic sieving results regarding the enumeration of matrices that are invariant under certain cyclic row and column rotation and translation of entries.

In this paper we construct a new basis for the cyclotomic completion of the center of the quantum $\mathfrak{gl}_N$ in terms of the interpolation Macdonald polynomials. Then we use a result of Okounkov to provide a dual basis with respect to the quantum Killing form (or Hopf pairing). The main applications are: 1) cyclotomic expansions for the $\mathfrak{gl}_N$ Reshetikhin--Turaev link invariants and the universal $\mathfrak{gl}_N$ knot invariant; 2) an explicit construction of the unified $\mathfrak{gl}_N$ invariants for integral homology 3-spheres using universal Kirby colors. These results generalize those of Habiro for $\mathfrak{sl}_2$. In addition, we give a simple proof of the fact that the universal $\mathfrak{gl}_N$ invariant of any evenly framed link and the universal $\mathfrak{sl}_N$ invariant of any $0$-framed algebraically split link are $Γ$-invariant, where $Γ=Y/2Y$ with the root lattice $Y$.

In this text we introduce and analyze families of symmetric functions arising as partition functions for colored fermionic vertex models associated with the quantized affine Lie superalgebra $U_q \big( \widehat{\mathfrak{sl}} (1 | n) \big)$. We establish various combinatorial results for these vertex models and symmetric functions, which include the following.
(1) We apply the fusion procedure to the fundamental $R$-matrix for $U_q \big( \widehat{\mathfrak{sl}} (1 | n) \big)$ to obtain an explicit family of vertex weights satisfying the Yang-Baxter equation.
(2) We define families of symmetric functions as partition functions for colored, fermionic vertex models under these fused weights. We further establish several combinatorial properties for these symmetric functions, such as branching rules and Cauchy identities.
(3) We show that the Lascoux-Leclerc-Thibon (LLT) polynomials arise as special cases of these symmetric functions. This enables us to show both old and new properties about the LLT polynomials, including Cauchy identities, contour integral formulas, stability properties, and branching rules under a certain family of plethystic transformations.
(4) A different special case of our symmetric functions gives rise to a new family of polynomials called factorial LLT polynomials. We show they generalize the LLT polynomials, while also satisfying a vanishing condition reminiscent of that satisfied by the factorial Schur functions.
(5) By considering our vertex model on a cylinder, we obtain fermionic partition function formulas for both the symmetric and nonsymmetric Macdonald polynomials.
(6) We prove combinatorial formulas for the coefficients of the LLT polynomials when expanded in the modified Hall-Littlewood basis, as partition functions for a $U_q \big( \widehat{\mathfrak{sl}} (2 | n) \big)$ vertex model.
New identities for Theta operators
In this article, we prove a new general identity involving the Theta operators introduced by the first author and his collaborators in [D'Adderio, Iraci, Vanden Wyngaerd 2020]. From this result, we can easily deduce several new identities that have combinatorial consequences in the study of Macdonald polynomials and diagonal coinvariants. In particular, we provide a unifying framework from which we recover many identities scattered in the literature, often resulting in drastically shorter proofs.

We present an LLT-type formula for a general power of the nabla operator applied to the Cauchy product for the modified Macdonald polynomials, and use it to deduce a new proof of the generalized shuffle theorem describing $\nabla^k e_n$, and the Elias-Hogancamp formula for $(\nabla^k p_1^n,e_n)$ as corollaries. We give a direct proof of the theorem by verifying that the LLT expansion satisfies the defining properties of $\nabla^k$, such as triangularity in the dominance order, as well as a geometric proof based on a method for counting bundles on $\mathbb{P}^1$ due to the second author. These formulas are related to an affine paving of the type A unramified affine Springer fiber studied by Goresky, Kottwitz, and MacPherson, and also to Stanley's chromatic symmetric functions.

We discuss the combinatorics of decorated Dyck paths and decorated parallelogram polyominoes, extending to the decorated case the main results of both [Haglund 2004] and [Aval et al. 2014]. This settles in particular the cases $\langle\cdot,e_{n-d}h_d\rangle$ and $\langle\cdot,h_{n-d}h_d\rangle$ of the Delta conjecture of Haglund, Remmel and Wilson (2018). Along the way, we introduce some new statistics, formulate some new conjectures, prove some new identities of symmetric functions, and answer a few open problems in the literature (e.g. from [Haglund et al. 2018], [Zabrocki 2016], [Aval et al. 2015]). The main technical tool is a new identity in the theory of Macdonald polynomials that extends a theorem of Haglund in [Haglund 2004]. This is an edited merge of arXiv:1712.08787 and arXiv:1709.08736
Modified Macdonald polynomials and the multispecies zero range process: I

In this paper we prove a new combinatorial formula for the modified Macdonald polynomials $\widetilde{H}_λ(X;q,t)$, motivated by connections to the theory of interacting particle systems from statistical mechanics. The formula involves a new statistic called queue inversions on fillings of tableaux. This statistic is closely related to the multiline queues which were recently used to give a formula for the Macdonald polynomials $P_λ(X;q,t)$. In the case $q=1$ and $X=(1,1,\dots,1)$, that formula had also been shown to compute stationary probabilities for a particle system known as the multispecies ASEP on a ring, and it is natural to ask whether a similar connection exists between the modified Macdonald polynomials and a suitable statistical mechanics model. In a sequel to this work, we demonstrate such a connection, showing that the stationary probabilities of the multispecies totally asymmetric zero-range process (mTAZRP) on a ring can be computed using tableaux formulas with the queue inversion statistic. This connection extends to arbitrary $X=(x_1,\dots, x_n)$; the $x_i$ play the role of site-dependent jump rates for the mTAZRP.
