Combinatorial Proofs of Two Overpartition Theorems Connected by a Universal Mock Theta Function
In 2015, Bringmann, Lovejoy and Mahlburg considered certain kinds overpartitions, which can been seen as the overpartition analogue of Schur's partition. The motivation of their work is that the difference between the generating function of Schur's classical partitions and the generating functions of the partitions in which the smallest part is excluded. The difference between the two generating functions of partitions is a specialization of the "universal" mock theta function g_3 which introduced by Hickerson. To give an analogue of this, by using another universal mock theta function g_2 instead of g_3, Bringmann Lovejoy and Mahlburg introduced two kinds of overpartitions, which satisfy certain congruence conditions and difference conditions with the smallest parts different. They prove these theorems by using the q-differential equations. In this paper, we will give the generating functions of these two kinds of overpartitions by combinatorial technique.
The center of the twisted Heisenberg category, factorial Schur $Q$-functions, and transition functions on the Schur graph
We establish an isomorphism between the center of the twisted Heisenberg category and the subalgebra of the symmetric functions $Γ$ generated by odd power sums. We give a graphical description of the factorial Schur $Q$-functions as closed diagrams in the twisted Heisenberg category and show that the bubble generators of the center correspond to two sets of generators of $Γ$ which encode data related to up/down transition functions on the Schur graph. Finally, we describe an action of the trace of the twisted Heisenberg category, the $W$-algebra $W^-\subset W_{1+\infty}$, on $Γ$.
Rigidity for the Hopf algebra of quasi-symmetric functions

We investigate the rigidity for the Hopf algebra ${\rm QSym}$ of quasisymmetric functions with respect to the monomial, the fundamental and the quasisymmetric Schur basis, respectively. By establishing some combinatorial properties of the posets of compositions arising from the analogous Pieri rules for quasisymmetric functions, we show that ${\rm QSym}$ is rigid as an algebra with respect to the quasisymmetric Schur basis, and rigid as a coalgebra with respect to the monomial and the quasisymmetric Schur basis, respectively. The natural actions of reversal, complement and transpose of the labelling compositions lead to some nontrivial graded (co)algebra automorphisms of ${\rm QSym}$. We prove that the linear maps induced by the three actions are precisely the only nontrivial graded algebra automorphisms that take the fundamental basis into itself. Furthermore, the complement map on the labels gives the unique nontrivial graded coalgebra automorphism preserving the fundamental basis, while the reversal map on the labels gives the unique nontrivial graded algebra automorphism preserving the monomial basis. Therefore, ${\rm QSym}$ is rigid as a Hopf algebra with respect to the monomial and the quasisymmetric Schur basis.

Employing bijectivisation of summation identities, we introduce local stochastic moves based on the Yang-Baxter equation for $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}_2})$. Combining these moves leads to a new object which we call the spin Hall-Littlewood Yang-Baxter field - a probability distribution on two-dimensional arrays of particle configurations on the discrete line. We identify joint distributions along down-right paths in the Yang-Baxter field with spin Hall-Littlewood processes, a generalization of Schur processes. We consider various degenerations of the Yang-Baxter field leading to new dynamic versions of the stochastic six vertex model and of the Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process.
A Generalization of Schur's Theorem
This paper is an excerpt from the author's 1968 PhD dissertation [Yale University, 1968] in which the (now) well-known result, commonly known as the Folkman-Rado-Sanders theorem, is proved. The proof uses (finite) alternating sums of integers and an 'iterated Ramsey theorem' in a way analogous to the proof of Schur's theorem using differences of integers and Ramsey's theorem for the coloring of the edges of a complete graph. The proof predates all others except J. Folkman, who based his proof on van der Waerden's theorem. The paper also contains the first published statement of the countable version of the theorem, which came to be misattributed to Graham and Rothschild, but predated their statement by three years.
Kohnert polynomials

We associate a polynomial to any diagram of unit cells in the first quadrant of the plane using Kohnert's algorithm for moving cells down. In this way, for every weak composition one can choose a cell diagram with corresponding row-counts, with each choice giving rise to a combinatorially-defined basis of polynomials. These Kohnert bases provide a simultaneous generalization of Schubert polynomials and Demazure characters for the general linear group. Using the monomial and fundamental slide bases defined earlier by the authors, we show that Kohnert polynomials stabilize to quasisymmetric functions that are nonnegative on the fundamental basis for quasisymmetric functions. For initial applications, we define and study two new Kohnert bases. The elements of one basis are conjecturally Schubert-positive and stabilize to the skew-Schur functions; the elements of the other basis stabilize to a new basis of quasisymmetric functions that contains the Schur functions.

Symmetric Grothendieck polynomials are analogues of Schur polynomials in the K-theory of Grassmannians. We build dual families of symmetric Grothendieck polynomials using Schur operators. With this approach we prove skew Cauchy identity and then derive various applications: skew Pieri rules, dual filtrations of Young's lattice, generating series and enumerative identities. We also give a new explanation of the finite expansion property for products of Grothendieck polynomials.

Recently Tewari and van Willigenburg constructed modules of the 0-Hecke algebra that are mapped to the quasisymmetric Schur functions by the quasisymmetric characteristic and decomposed them into a direct sum of certain submodules. We show that these submodules are indecomposable by determining their endomorphism rings.
Shifted tableaux crystals
We introduce coplactic raising and lowering operators $E'_i$, $F'_i$, $E_i$, and $F_i$ on shifted skew semistandard tableaux. We show that the primed operators and unprimed operators each independently form type A Kashiwara crystals (but not Stembridge crystals) on the same underlying set and with the same weight functions. When taken together, the result is a new kind of `doubled crystal' structure that recovers the combinatorics of type B Schubert calculus: the highest-weight elements of our crystals are precisely the shifted Littlewood-Richardson tableaux, and their generating functions are the (skew) Schur $Q$-functions. We give local axioms for these crystals, which closely resemble the Stembridge axioms for type A. Finally, we give a new criterion for such tableaux to be ballot.

We give explicit formulas for the recently introduced Schur multiple zeta values, which generalize multiple zeta(-star) values and which assign to a Young tableaux a real number. In this note we consider Young tableaux of various shapes, filled with alternating entries like a Checkerboard. In particular we obtain new sum representation for odd single zeta values in terms of these Schur multiple zeta values. As a special case we show that some Schur multiple zeta values of Checkerboard style, filled with 1 and 3, are given by determinants of matrices with odd single zeta values as entries.

A finite group $G$ is called a Schur group if any Schur ring over $G$ is associated in a natural way with a subgroup of $Sym(G)$ that contains all right translations. It is proved that the group $C_3\times C_3\times C_p$ is Schur for any prime $p$. Together with earlier results, this completes a classification of the abelian Schur groups of odd order.
Maximum number of sum-free colorings in finite abelian groups
An $r$-coloring of a subset $A$ of a finite abelian group $G$ is called sum-free if it does not induce a monochromatic Schur triple, i.e., a triple of elements $a,b,c\in A$ with $a+b=c$. We investigate $κ_{r,G}$, the maximum number of sum-free $r$-colorings admitted by subsets of $G$, and our results show a close relationship between $κ_{r,G}$ and largest sum-free sets of $G$. Given a sufficiently large abelian group $G$ of type $I$, i.e., $|G|$ has a prime divisor $q$ with $q\equiv 2\pmod 3$. For $r=2,3$ we show that a subset $A\subset G$ achieves $κ_{r,G}$ if and only if $A$ is a largest sum-free set of $G$. For even order $G$ the result extends to $r=4,5$, where the phenomenon persists only if $G$ has a unique largest sum-free set. On the contrary, if the largest sum-free set in $G$ is not unique then $A$ attains $κ_{r,G}$ if and only if it is the union of two largest sum-free sets (in case $r=4$) and the union of three ("independent") largest sum-free sets (in case $r=5$). Our approach relies on the so called container method and can be extended to larger $r$ in case $G$ is of even order and contains sufficiently many largest sum-free sets.

The notion of descent set, for permutations as well as for standard Young tableaux (SYT), is classical. Cellini introduced a natural notion of {\em cyclic descent set} for permutations, and Rhoades introduced such a notion for SYT --- but only for rectangular shapes. In this work we define {\em cyclic extensions} of descent sets in a general context, and prove existence and essential uniqueness for SYT of almost all shapes. The proof applies nonnegativity properties of Postnikov's toric Schur polynomials, providing a new interpretation of certain Gromov-Witten invariants.

D. Grigoriev-G. Koshevoy recently proved that tropical Schur polynomials have (at worst) polynomial tropical semiring complexity. They also conjectured tropical skew Schur polynomials have at least exponential complexity; we establish a polynomial complexity upper bound. Our proof uses results about (stable) Schubert polynomials, due to R. P. Stanley and S. Billey-W. Jockusch-R. P. Stanley, together with a sufficient condition for polynomial complexity that is connected to the saturated Newton polytope property.

Let $\mathbb{N}$ denote the set of non-negative integers. Haglund, Wilson, and the second author have conjectured that the coefficient of any Schur function $s_λ[X]$ in $Δ_{e_k} e_n[X]$ is a polynomial in $\mathbb{N}[q,t]$. We present four proofs of a stronger statement in the case $k=2$; We show that the coefficient of any Schur function $s_λ[X]$ in $Δ_{e_2} e_n[X]$ has a positive expansion in terms of $q,t$-analogs.
Factorial characters of classical Lie groups and their combinatorial realisations
Just as the definition of factorial Schur functions as a ratio of determinants allows one to show that they satisfy a Jacobi-Trudi-type identity and have an explicit combinatorial realisation in terms of semistandard tableaux, so we offer here definitions of factorial irreducible characters of the classical Lie groups as ratios of determinants that share these two features. These factorial characters are each specified by a partition, $λ=(λ_1,λ_2,\ldots,λ_n)$, and in each case a flagged Jacobi-Trudi identity is derived that expresses the factorial character as a determinant of corresponding factorial characters specified by one-part partitions, $(m)$, for which we supply generating functions. These identities are established by manipulating determinants through the use of certain recurrence relations derived from these generating functions. The transitions to combinatorial realisations of the factorial characters in terms of tableaux are then established by means of non-intersecting lattice path models. The results apply to $gl(n)$, $so(2n+1)$, $sp(2n)$ and $o(2n)$, and are extended to the case of $so(2n)$ by making use of newly defined factorial difference characters.

We establish a bijective correspondence between certain non-self-intersecting curves in an $n$-punctured disc and positive ${\mathbf c}$-vectors of acyclic cluster algebras whose quivers have multiple arrows between every pair of vertices. As a corollary, we obtain a proof of a conjecture by K.-H. Lee and K. Lee (arXiv:1703.09113) on the combinatorial description of real Schur roots for acyclic quivers with multiple arrows, and give a combinatorial characterization of seeds in terms of curves in an $n$-punctured disc.
On separability of Schur rings over abelian p-groups

An $S$-ring (Schur ring) is called separable with respect to a class of $S$-rings $\mathcal{K}$ if it is determined up to isomorphism in $\mathcal{K}$ only by the tensor of its structure constants. An abelian group is said to be separable if every $S$-ring over this group is separable with respect to the class of $S$-rings over abelian groups. Let $C_n$ be a cyclic group of order $n$ and $G$ be a noncylic abelian $p$-group. From the previously obtained results it follows that if $G$ is separable then $G$ is isomorphic to $C_p\times C_{p^k}$ or $C_p\times C_p\times C_{p^k}$, where $p\in \{2,3\}$ and $k\geq 1$. We prove that the groups $D=C_p\times C_{p^k}$ are separable whenever $p\in \{2,3\}$. From this statement we deduce that a given Cayley graph over $D$ and a given Cayley graph over an arbitrary abelian group one can check whether these graphs are isomorphic in time $|D|^{O(1)}$.
Support Equalities Among Ribbon Schur Functions

In 2007, McNamara proved that two skew shapes can have the same Schur support only if they have the same number of $k\times \ell$ rectangles as subdiagrams. This implies that two ribbons can have the same Schur support only if one is obtained by permuting row lengths of the other. We present substantial progress towards classifying when a permutation $π\in S_m$ of row lengths of a ribbon $α$ produces a ribbon $α_π$ with the same Schur support as $α$; when this occurs for all $π\in S_m$, we say that $α$ has "full equivalence class." Our main results include a sufficient condition for a ribbon $α$ to have full equivalence class. Additionally, we prove a separate necessary condition, which we conjecture to be sufficient.
Prism tableaux for alternating sign matrix varieties
A prism tableau is a set of reverse semistandard tableaux, each positioned within an ambient grid. Prism tableaux were introduced to provide a formula for the Schubert polynomials of A. Lascoux and M.P. Schützenberger. This formula directly generalizes the well known expression for Schur polynomials as a sum over semistandard tableaux. Alternating sign matrix varieties generalize the matrix Schubert varieties of W. Fulton. We use prism tableaux to give a formula for the multidegree of an alternating sign matrix variety.
