Geometric and combinatorial properties of extended Springer fibers
We consider a generalization of the Springer resolution studied in earlier work of the authors, called the extended Springer resolution. In type $A$, this map plays a role in Lusztig's generalized Springer correspondence comparable to that of the Springer resolution in the Springer correspondence. The fibers of the Springer resolution play a key part in the latter story, and connect the combinatorics of tableaux to geometry. Our main results prove the same is true for fibers of the extended Springer resolution -- their geometry is governed by the combinatorics of tableaux. In particular, we prove that these fibers are paved by affines, up to the action of a finite group, and give combinatorial formulas for their Betti numbers. This yields, among other things, a simple formula for dimensions of stalks of the Lusztig sheaves arising in the study of the generalized Springer correspondence, and shows that there is a close resemblance between each Lusztig sheaf and the Springer sheaf for a smaller group.
Constructing a Gröbner basis of Griffin's ideal
In his Ph.D. thesis, Sean Griffin introduced a family of ideals and found monomial bases for their quotient rings. These rings simultaneously generalize the Delta Conjecture coinvariant rings of Haglund-Rhoades-Shimozono and the cohomology rings of Springer fibers studied by Tanisaki and Garsia-Procesi. We recursively construct a Gröbner basis of Griffin's ideals with respect to the graded reverse lexicographical order. Consequently, Griffin's monomial basis is the standard monomial basis. Coefficients of polynomials in our Gröbner basis are integers and leading coefficients are one.
Cocharge and skewing formulas for $Δ$-Springer modules and the Delta Conjecture
We prove that $ωΔ'_{e_{k}}e_n|_{t=0}$, the symmetric function in the Delta Conjecture at $t=0$, is a skewing operator applied to a Hall-Littlewood polynomial, and generalize this formula to the Frobenius series of all $Δ$-Springer modules. We use this to give an explicit Schur expansion in terms of the Lascoux-Schützenberger cocharge statistic on a new combinatorial object that we call a \textit{battery-powered tableau}. Our proof is geometric, and shows that the $Δ$-Springer varieties of Levinson, Woo, and the second author are generalized Springer fibers coming from the partial resolutions of the nilpotent cone due to Borho and MacPherson.
We also give alternative combinatorial proofs of our Schur expansion for several special cases, and give conjectural skewing formulas for the $t$ and $t^2$ coefficients of $ωΔ'_{e_{k}}e_n$.
Higher rank $(q,t)$-Catalan polynomials, affine Springer fibers, and a finite Rational Shuffle Theorem
We introduce the higher rank $(q,t)$-Catalan polynomials and prove they equal truncations of the Hikita polynomial to a finite number of variables. Using affine compositions and a certain standardization map, we define a dinv statistic on rank $r$ semistandard $(m,n)$-parking functions and prove codinv counts the dimension of an affine space in an affine paving of a parabolic affine Springer fiber. Combining these results, we give a finite analogue of the Rational Shuffle Theorem in the context of double affine Hecke algebras. Lastly, we also give a Bizley-type formula for the higher rank Catalan numbers in the non-coprime case.

The $Δ$-Springer varieties are a generalization of Springer fibers introduced by Levinson, Woo, and the author that have connections to the Delta Conjecture from algebraic combinatorics. We prove a positive Hall-Littlewood expansion formula for the graded Frobenius characteristic of the cohomology ring of a $Δ$-Springer variety. We do this by interpreting the Frobenius characteristic in terms of counting points over a finite field $\mathbb{F}_q$ and partitioning the $Δ$-Springer variety into copies of Springer fibers crossed with affine spaces. As a special case, our proof method gives a geometric meaning to a formula of Haglund, Rhoades, and Shimozono for the Hall-Littlewood expansion of the symmetric function in the Delta Conjecture at $t=0$.
Shalika germs for tamely ramified elements in $GL_n$
Degenerating the action of the elliptic Hall algebra on the Fock space, we give a combinatorial formula for the Shalika germs of tamely ramified regular semisimple elements $γ$ of $GL_n$ over a nonarchimedean local field. As a byproduct, we compute the weight polynomials of affine Springer fibers in type A and orbital integrals of tamely ramified regular semisimple elements. We conjecture that the Shalika germs of $γ$ correspond to residues of torus localization weights of a certain quasi-coherent sheaf $\mathcal{F}_γ$ on the Hilbert scheme of points on $\mathbb{A}^2$, thereby finding a geometric interpretation for them. As corollaries, we obtain the polynomiality in $q$ of point-counts of compactified Jacobians of planar curves, as well as a virtual version of the Cherednik-Danilenko conjecture on their Betti numbers. Our results also provide further evidence for the ORS conjecture relating compactified Jacobians and HOMFLY-PT invariants of algebraic knots.
Orbit harmonics for the union of two orbits
Garsia and Procesi, in their study of Springer's representation, proved that the cohomology ring of a Springer fiber is isomorphic to the associated graded ring of the coordinate ring of the $S_n$ orbit of a single point in $\mathbb{C}^n$. This construction was an essential tool in their analysis of the Springer representation, and variations of it have reappeared recently in several other combinatorial and geometric contexts under the name orbit harmonics. In this article, we analyze the orbit harmonics of a union of two $S_n$ orbits. We prove that when the coordinate sums of the two orbits are different, the corresponding graded $S_n$ representation is a direct sum of two Springer representations, one of which is shifted in degree by 1.
GKM spaces, and the signed positivity of the nabla operator
We show that the Frobenius character of the equivariant Borel-Moore homology of a certain positive $GL_n$-version of the unramified affine Springer fiber $Z_k$ studied by Goreski, Kottwitz and MacPherson is computed by the matrix coefficients of the $\nabla^k$-operator, which acts diagonally in the modified Macdonald basis. We do this by relating the combinatorial formula for the $\nabla^k$-operator we obtained in an earlier paper to the GKM paving of $Z_k$, and we give an algebraic presentation of the above homology as an explicit submodule of the Kostant-Kumar nil Hecke algebra. We then study a certain open locus $U_k \subset Z_k$, and reduce a long-standing conjecture of Bergeron, Garsia, Haiman and Tesler, which predicts the sign of the coefficients of the Schur expansion of $\nabla^k$, to a vanishing conjecture about the homology groups of $U_k$. The latter conjecture is in turn reduced to a vanishing conjecture for certain open loci of the regular semisimple Hessenberg varieties which are indexed by partial Dyck paths.

We introduce a family of varieties $Y_{n,λ,s}$, which we call the \emph{$Δ$-Springer varieties}, that generalize the type A Springer fibers. We give an explicit presentation of the cohomology ring $H^*(Y_{n,λ,s})$ and show that there is a symmetric group action on this ring generalizing the Springer action on the cohomology of a Springer fiber. In particular, the top cohomology groups are induction products of Specht modules with trivial modules. The $λ=(1^k)$ case of this construction gives a compact geometric realization for the expression in the Delta Conjecture at $t=0$. Finally, we generalize results of De Concini and Procesi on the scheme of diagonal nilpotent matrices by constructing an ind-variety $Y_{n,λ}$ whose cohomology ring is isomorphic to the coordinate ring of the scheme-theoretic intersection of an Eisenbud--Saltman rank variety and diagonal matrices.

These notes cover the lectures of the first named author at 2021 IHES Summer School on "Enumerative Geometry, Physics and Representation Theory" with additional details and references. They cover the definition of Khovanov-Rozansky triply graded homology, its basic properties and recent advances, as well as three algebro-geometric models for link homology: braid varieties, Hilbert schemes of singular curves and affine Springer fibers, and Hilbert schemes of points on the plane.

We present an LLT-type formula for a general power of the nabla operator applied to the Cauchy product for the modified Macdonald polynomials, and use it to deduce a new proof of the generalized shuffle theorem describing $\nabla^k e_n$, and the Elias-Hogancamp formula for $(\nabla^k p_1^n,e_n)$ as corollaries. We give a direct proof of the theorem by verifying that the LLT expansion satisfies the defining properties of $\nabla^k$, such as triangularity in the dominance order, as well as a geometric proof based on a method for counting bundles on $\mathbb{P}^1$ due to the second author. These formulas are related to an affine paving of the type A unramified affine Springer fiber studied by Goresky, Kottwitz, and MacPherson, and also to Stanley's chromatic symmetric functions.
Affine Springer Fibers and the Affine Matrix Ball Construction for Rectangular Type Nilpotents
In this paper, we study the affine Springer fiber $\mathcal{F} l_N$ in type $A$ for rectangular type semisimple nil-element $N$ and calculate the relative position between irreducible components. In particular, we use the affine matrix ball construction to show the relative position map is compatible with the Kazhdan-Lusztig cell structure, generalizing the work of Steinberg and van Leeuwen.

Let $k \leq n$ be nonnegative integers and let $λ$ be a partition of $k$. S. Griffin recently introduced a quotient $R_{n,λ}$ of the polynomial ring $\mathbb{Q}[x_1, \dots, x_n]$ in $n$ variables which simultaneously generalizes the Delta Conjecture coinvariant rings of Haglund-Rhoades-Shimozono and the cohomology rings of Springer fibers studied by Tanisaki and Garsia-Procesi. We describe the space $V_{n,λ}$ of harmonics attached to $R_{n,λ}$ and produce a harmonic basis of $R_{n,λ}$ indexed by certain ordered set partitions $\mathcal{OP}_{n,λ}$. The combinatorics of this basis is governed by a new extension of the {\em Lehmer code} of a permutation to $\mathcal{OP}_{n, λ}$.

Springer fibers are subvarieties of the flag variety that play an important role in combinatorics and geometric representation theory. In this paper, we analyze the equivariant cohomology of Springer fibers for $GL_n(\mathbb{C})$ using results of Kumar and Procesi that describe this equivariant cohomology as a quotient ring. We define a basis for the equivariant cohomology of a Springer fiber, generalizing a monomial basis of the ordinary cohomology defined by De Concini and Procesi and studied by Garsia and Procesi. Our construction yields a combinatorial framework with which to study the equivariant and ordinary cohomology rings of Springer fibers. As an application, we identify an explicit collection of (equivariant) Schubert classes whose images in the (equivariant) cohomology ring of a given Springer fiber form a basis.

We consider Hessenberg varieties in the flag variety of $GL_n(\mathbb{C})$ with the property that the corresponding Hessenberg function defines an ad-nilpotent ideal. Each such Hessenberg variety is contained in a Springer fiber. We extend a theorem of Tymoczko to this setting, showing that these varieties have an affine paving obtained by intersecting with Schubert cells. Our method of proof constructs an an affine paving for each Springer fiber that restricts to an affine paving of the Hessenberg variety. We use the combinatorial properties of this paving to prove that Hessenberg varieties of this kind are connected.

We study the geometry and topology of exotic Springer fibers for orbits corresponding to one-row bipartitions from an explicit, combinatorial point of view. This includes a detailed analysis of the structure of the irreducible components and their intersections as well as the construction of an explicit affine paving. Moreover, we compute the ring structure of cohomology by constructing a CW-complex homotopy equivalent to the exotic Springer fiber. This homotopy equivalent space admits an action of the type C Weyl group inducing Kato's original exotic Springer representation on cohomology. Our results are described in terms of the diagrammatics of the one-boundary Temperley-Lieb algebra (also known as the blob algebra). This provides a first step in generalizing the geometric versions of Khovanov's arc algebra to the exotic setting.

A sequence of $S_n$-representations $\{V_n\}$ is said to be uniformly representation stable if the decomposition of $V_n = \bigoplus_μ c_{μ,n} V(μ)_n$ into irreducible representations is independent of $n$ for each $μ$---that is, the multiplicities $c_{μ,n}$ are eventually independent of $n$ for each $μ$. Church-Ellenberg-Farb proved that the cohomology of flag varieties (the so-called diagonal coinvariant algebra) is uniformly representation stable. We generalize their result from flag varieties to all Springer fibers. More precisely, we show that for any increasing subsequence of Young diagrams, the corresponding sequence of Springer representations form a graded co-FI-module of finite type (in the sense of Church-Ellenberg-Farb). We also explore some combinatorial consequences of this stability.

For $x\in End(K^n)$ satisfying $x^2 = 0$ let $F_x$ be the variety of full flags stable under the action of $x$ (Springer fiber over $x$). The full classification of the components of $F_x$ according to their smoothness was provided in a paper of Fresse-Melnikov in terms of both Young tableaux and link patterns. Moreover in a paper of Fresse the purely combinatorial algorithm to compute the singular locus of a singular components of $F_x$ is provided. However this algorithm involves the computation of the graph of the component, and the complexity of computations grows very quickly, so that in practice it is impossible to use it. In this paper, we construct another algorithm, derived from the algorithm of Fresse, providing all the components of the singular locus of a singular component of $F_x$ in terms of link patterns constructed straightforwardly from its link pattern.
Affine Schubert calculus and double coinvariants
We define an action of the double coinvariant algebra
$DR_n$ on the equivariant Borel-Moore homology of the affine flag variety
$\widetilde{Fl}_n$ in type $A$, which has an explicit form in terms of
the left and right action of the (extended) affine Weyl group and multiplication by Chern classes.
Up to first order in the augmentation ideal, we show that it coincides with the
action of the Cherednik algebra on the equivariant homology of
the homogeneous affine Springer fiber $\widetilde{S}_{n,m} \subset \widetilde{Fl}_n$
due to Yun and the second author, and therefore
preserves the non-equivariant Borel-Moore homology groups $H_*(\widetilde{S}_{n,m})\hookrightarrow H_*(\widetilde{Fl}_n)$.
We then define a geometric filtration
$F_{a} H_*(\widetilde{S}_{n,n+1})=H_*(\widetilde{S}(a))$
by closed subspaces $\widetilde{S}(a)\subset \widetilde{S}_{n,n+1}$,
which we prove recovers the Garsia-Stanton descent order on $DR_n$. We use this to deduce an explicit monomial basis of $DR_n$, as well as an independent proof of the (non-compositional) Shuffle Theorem.

We study the relationship between rational slope Dyck paths and invariant subsets of $\mathbb Z,$ extending the work of the first two authors in the relatively prime case. We also find a bijection between $(dn,dm)$--Dyck paths and $d$-tuples of $(n,m)$-Dyck paths endowed with certain gluing data. These are the first steps towards understanding the relationship between rational slope Catalan combinatorics and the geometry of affine Springer fibers and knot invariants in the non relatively prime case.
