New partition function recurrences
We present Euler-type recurrence relations for some partition functions. Some of our results provide new recurrences for the number of unrestricted partitions of $n$, denote by $p(n)$. Others establish recurrences for partition functions not yet considered.

We introduce the multiset partition algebra, ${\rm M\!P}_{r,k}(x)$, that has bases elements indexed by multiset partitions, where $x$ is an indeterminate and $r$ and $k$ are non-negative integers. This algebra can be realized as a diagram algebra that generalizes the partition algebra. When $x$ is an integer greater or equal to $2r$, we show that ${\rm M\!P}_{r,k}(x)$ is isomorphic to a centralizer algebra of the symmetric group, $S_n$, acting on the polynomial ring on the variables $x_{ij}$, $1\leq i \leq n$ and $1\leq j\leq k$. We describe the representations of ${\rm M\!P}_{r,k}(x)$, branching rule and restriction of its representations in the case that $x$ is an integer greater or equal to $2r$.

We study the structured rainbow Ramsey theory at uncountable cardinals. When compared to the usual rainbow Ramsey theory, the variation focuses on finding a rainbow subset that not only is of a certain cardinality but also satisfies certain structural constraints, such as being stationary or closed in its supremum. In the process of dealing with cardinals greater than $ω_1$, we uncover some connections between versions of Chang's Conjectures and instances of rainbow Ramsey partition relations, addressing a question raised in \cite{zhang}.

We give a product formula for the number of shifted plane partitions of shifted double staircase shape with bounded entries. This is the first new example of a family of shapes with a plane partition product formula in many years. The proof is based on the theory of lozenge tilings; specifically, we apply the "free boundary" Kuo condensation due to Ciucu.

We construct an integrable colored six-vertex model whose partition function is a double Grothendieck polynomial. This gives an integrable systems interpretation of bumpless pipe dreams and recent results of Weigandt [arXiv:2003.07342] relating double Grothendieck polynomias with bumpless pipe dreams. For vexillary permutations, we then construct a new model that we call the semidual version model. We use our semidual model and the five-vertex model of Motegi and Sakai to given a new proof that double Grothendieck polynomials for vexillary permutations are equal to flagged factorial Grothendieck polynomials. Taking the stable limit of double Grothendieck polynomials, we obtain a new proof that the stable limit is a factorial Grothendieck polynomial as defined by McNamara. The states of our semidual model naturally correspond to families of nonintersecting lattice paths, where we can then use the Lindström-Gessel-Viennot lemma to give a determinant formula for double Schubert polynomials corresponding to vexillary permutations.

For a (finite) partially ordered set (poset) $P$, we call a dominating set $D$ in the comparability graph of $P$, an order-sensitive dominating set in $P$ if either $x\in D$ or else $a<x<b$ in $P$ for some $a,b\in D$ for every element $x$ in $P$ which is neither maximal nor minimal, and denote by $γ_{os}(P)$, the least size of an order-sensitive dominating set of $P$. For every graph $G$ and integer $k\geq 2$, we associate a graded poset $\mathscr{P}_k(G)$ of height $k$, and prove that $γ_{os}(\mathscr{P}_3(G))=γ_{\text{R}}(G)$ and $γ_{os}(\mathscr{P}_4(G))=2γ(G)$ hold, where $γ(G)$ and $γ_{\text{R}}(G)$ are the domination and Roman domination number of $G$, respectively. Apart from these, we introduce the notion of a Helly poset, and prove that when $P$ is a Helly poset, the computation of order-sensitive domination number of $P$ can be interpreted as a weighted clique partition number of a graph, the middle graph of $P$. Moreover, we show that the order-sensitive domination number of a poset $P$ exactly corresponds to the biclique vertex-partition number of the associated bipartite transformation of $P$. Finally, we prove that the decision problem of order-sensitive domination on posets of arbitrary height is NP-complete, which is obtained by using a reduction from EQUAL-$3$-SAT problem.

Catalan functions, the graded Euler characteristics of certain vector bundles on the flag variety, are a rich class of symmetric functions which include $k$-Schur functions and parabolic Hall-Littlewood polynomials. We prove that Catalan functions indexed by partition weight are the characters of $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_\ell)$-generalized Demazure crystals as studied by Lakshmibai-Littelmann-Magyar and Naoi. We obtain Schur positive formulas for these functions, settling conjectures of Chen-Haiman and Shimozono-Weyman. Our approach more generally gives key positive formulas for graded Euler characteristics of certain vector bundles on Schubert varieties by matching them to characters of generalized Demazure crystals.
On the Okounkov-Olshanski formula for standard tableaux of skew shapes

The classical hook length formula counts the number of standard tableaux of straight shapes. In 1996, Okounkov and Olshanski found a positive formula for the number of standard Young tableaux of a skew shape. We prove various properties of this formula, including three determinantal formulas for the number of nonzero terms, an equivalence between the Okounkov-Olshanski formula and another skew tableaux formula involving Knutson-Tao puzzles, and two $q$-analogues for reverse plane partitions, which complements work by Stanley and Chen for semistandard tableaux. We also give several reformulations of the formula, including two in terms of the excited diagrams appearing in a more recent skew tableaux formula by Naruse. Lastly, for thick zigzag shapes we show that the number of nonzero terms is given by a determinant of the Genocchi numbers and improve on known upper bounds by Morales-Pak-Panova on the number of standard tableaux of these shapes.
Frozen Pipes: Lattice Models for Grothendieck Polynomials

We introduce families of two-parameter multivariate polynomials indexed by pairs of partitions $v,w$ -- biaxial double $(β,q)$-Grothendieck polynomials -- which specialize at $q=0$ and $v=1$ to double $β$-Grothendieck polynomials from torus-equivariant connective K-theory. Initially defined recursively via divided difference operators, our main result is that these new polynomials arise as partition functions of solvable lattice models. Moreover, the associated quantum group of the solvable model for polynomials in $n$ pairs of variables is a Drinfeld twist of the $U_q(\widehat{\mathfrak{sl}}_{n+1})$ $R$-matrix. By leveraging the resulting Yang-Baxter equations of the lattice model, we show that these polynomials simultaneously generalize double $β$-Grothendieck polynomials and dual double $β$-Grothendieck polynomials for arbitrary permutations. We then use properties of the model and Yang-Baxter equations to reprove Fomin-Kirillov's Cauchy identity for $β$-Grothendieck polynomials, generalize it to a new Cauchy identity for biaxial double $β$-Grothendieck polynomials, and prove a new branching rule for double $β$-Grothendieck polynomials.

We prove Macdonald-type deformations of a number of well-known classical branching rules by employing identities for elliptic hypergeometric integrals and series. We also propose some conjectural branching rules and allied conjectures exhibiting a novel type of vanishing behaviour involving partitions with empty 2-cores.

We study four dimensional supersymmetric gauge theory in the presence of surface and point-like defects (blowups) and propose an identity relating partition functions at different values of $Ω$-deformation parameters $({\varepsilon}_{1}, {\varepsilon}_{2})$. As a consequence, we obtain the formula conjectured in 2012 by O$.$Gamayun, N$.$Iorgov, and O$.$Lysovyy, relating the tau-function $τ_{PVI}$ to $c=1$ conformal blocks of Liouville theory and propose its generalization for the case of Garnier-Schlesinger system. To this end we clarify the notion of the quasiclassical tau-function $τ_{PVI}$ of Painlevé VI and its generalizations. We also make some remarks about the sphere partition functions, the boundary operator product expansion in the ${\mathcal{N}}=(4,4)$ sigma models related to four dimensional ${\mathcal{N}}=2$ theories on toric manifolds, discuss crossed instantons on conifolds, elucidate some aspects of the BPZ/KZ correspondence, and applications to quantization.
Run Distribution Over Flattened Partitions
The study of flattened partitions is an active area of current research. In this paper, our study unexpectedly leads us to the OEIS numbers A124324. We provide a new combinatorial interpretation of these numbers. A combinatorial bijection between flattened partitions over $[n+1]$ and the partitions of $[n]$ is also given in a separate section. We introduce the numbers $f_{n, k}$ which count the number of flattened partitions over $[n]$ having $k$ runs. We give recurrence relations defining them, as well as their exponential generating function in differential form. It should be appreciated if its closed form is established. We extend the results to flattened partitions where the first $s$ integers belong to different runs. Combinatorial proofs are given.
Exact solutions of directed walk models of polymeric zipping with pulling in two and three dimensions

We provide the exact solution of several variants of simple models of the zipping transition of two bound polymers, such as occurs in DNA/RNA, in two and three dimensions using pairs of directed lattice paths. In three dimensions the solutions are written in terms of complete elliptic integrals. We analyse the phase transition associated with each model giving the scaling of the partition function. We also extend the models to include a pulling force between one end of the pair of paths, which competes with the attractive monomer-monomer interactions between the polymers.

Given a graph $G$, a decomposition of $G$ is a partition of its edges. A graph is $(d, h)$-decomposable if its edge set can be partitioned into a $d$-degenerate graph and a graph with maximum degree at most $h$. For $d \le 4$, we are interested in the minimum integer $h_d$ such that every planar graph is $(d,h_d)$-decomposable. It was known that $h_3 \le 4$, $h_2\le 8$, and $h_1 = \infty$. This paper proves that $h_4=1, h_3=2$, and $4 \le h_2 \le 6$.
Sós Permutations

Let $f(x) = αx + β\mod 1$ for fixed real parameters $α$ and $β$. For any positive integer $n$, define the Sós permutation $π$ to be the lexicographically first permutation such that $0 \leq f(π(0)) \leq f(π(1)) \leq \cdots \leq f(π(n)) < 1$. In this article we give a bijection between Sós permutations and regions in a partition of the parameter space $(α,β)\in [0,1)^2$. This allows us to enumerate these permutations and to obtain the following "three areas" theorem: in any vertical strip $(a/b,c/d)\times [0,1)$, with $(a/b,c/d)$ a Farey interval, there are at most three distinct areas of regions, and one of these areas is the sum of the other two.
On asymptotic properties of high moments of compound Poisson distribution
We study asymptotic behavior of the moments $M_k(λ)$ of the sum $X_1+\dots+X_{N_λ}$, where $N_λ$ follows the Poisson probability distribution with mean value $λ$ and $\{X_j\}$ is a family of i.i.d. random variables also independent from $N_λ$. We obtain an explicit expression for the leading term of $M_k(λ)$ as $k\to\infty$ and study it in dependence of the asymptotic behavior of $λ= λ_k$.
In application, we establish a concentration property of maximal vertex degree of large weighted random graphs. Another application is related with a variable that arises in the studies of high moments of large random matrices. Finally, regarding three particular cases of probability distribution of $X_j$, we comment on the asymptotic behavior of certain combinatorial polynomials, including the Bell polynomials of even partitions.
Matchings in regular graphs: minimizing the partition function
For a graph $G$ on $v(G)$ vertices let $m_k(G)$ denote the number of matchings of size $k$, and consider the partition function $M_{G}(λ)=\sum_{k=0}^nm_k(G)λ^k$. In this paper we show that if $G$ is a $d$--regular graph and $0<λ<(4d)^{-2}$, then $$\frac{1}{v(G)}\ln M_G(λ)>\frac{1}{v(K_{d+1})}\ln M_{K_{d+1}}(λ).$$ The same inequality holds true if $d=3$ and $λ<0.3575$. More precise conjectures are also given.
On Conjectures Concerning the Smallest Part and Missing Parts of Integer Partitions

For positive integers $s$ and $L \geq 3$, Berkovich and Uncu (Ann. Comb. $23$ ($2019$) $263$--$284$) conjectured an inequality between the sizes of two closely related sets of partitions whose parts lie in the interval $\{s, \ldots, L+s\}$. Further restrictions are placed on the sets by specifying impermissible parts as well as a minimum part. The authors proved their conjecture for the cases $s=1$ and $s=2$. In the present article, we prove the conjecture for general $s$ by proving a stronger theorem. We also prove other related conjectures found in the same paper.

We identify the dimension of the centralizer of the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_d$ in the partition algebra $\mathcal{A}_d(δ)$ and in the Brauer algebra $\mathcal{B}_d(δ)$ with the number of multidigraphs with $d$ arrows and the number of disjoint union of directed cycles with $d$ arrows, respectively. Using Schur-Weyl duality as a fundamental theory, we conclude that each centralizer is related with the $G$-invariant space $P^d(M_n(\mathbf{k}))^G$ of degree $d$ homogeneous polynomials on $n \times n$ matrices, where $G$ is the orthogonal group and the group of permutation matrices, respectively. Our approach gives a uniform way to show that the dimensions of $P^d(M_n(\mathbf{k}))^G$ are stable for sufficiently large $n$.
Lee-Yang zeros and the complexity of the ferromagnetic Ising model on bounded-degree graphs

We study the computational complexity of approximating the partition function of the ferromagnetic Ising model with the external field parameter $λ$ on the unit circle in the complex plane. Complex-valued parameters for the Ising model are relevant for quantum circuit computations and phase transitions in statistical physics, but have also been key in the recent deterministic approximation scheme for all $|λ|\neq 1$ by Liu, Sinclair, and Srivastava. Here, we focus on the unresolved complexity picture on the unit circle, and on the tantalising question of what happens around $λ=1$, where on one hand the classical algorithm of Jerrum and Sinclair gives a randomised approximation scheme on the real axis suggesting tractability, and on the other hand the presence of Lee-Yang zeros alludes to computational hardness.
Our main result establishes a sharp computational transition at the point $λ=1$, and more generally on the entire unit circle. For an integer $Δ\geq 3$ and edge interaction parameter $b\in (0,1)$ we show #P-hardness for approximating the partition function on graphs of maximum degree $Δ$ on the arc of the unit circle where the Lee-Yang zeros are dense. This result contrasts with known approximation algorithms when $|λ|\neq 1$ or when $λ$ is in the complementary arc around $1$ of the unit circle. Our work thus gives a direct connection between the presence/absence of Lee-Yang zeros and the tractability of efficiently approximating the partition function on bounded-degree graphs.
